Gisby reacted to Tyler Durden in v Burton Albion (A) Match Thread
First win of the season
First away win of the season
First clean sheet of the season
3 goals away from home
What's not to like about that

Gisby reacted to sage in Entitlement
Then don't make a big deal about loosening of embargoes after the Sheff Wed game. We still haven't paid a fee or loan fee.
Warne keeps sating we are 4 players short but then suggests we can only sign 2.
No one expected multi million pound signings, but we didn't expect three 30+ CFs with recent poor scoring records.
Two things are clear, the actual budget is smaller than the anticipated one.
Secondly we don't have enough players with pace to play the managers system, yet he signed slow players.
We were told this was going yo be a competitive squad. As it stands it isn't.
When you have 2 or 3 times as many fans as rivals and you have a smaller squad, people are 'entitled' to be disappointed.

Gisby reacted to May Contain Nuts in Is Warne living on borrowed time?
Got to remember that it's not Warne negotiating contracts and stuff, although he might have targets he asks them to make sure he signs as a priority.
Could it be that the recruitment team have misjudged things and ended up overpaying for those early transfers, and now the space we have left in the budget is just too low to afford the players we wanted in other areas? It was reported that Bradley had interest higher up still. Early signs are that he could prove an expensive mistake.
I just can't escape the feeling that the demand for the players needed to suit the wing back system has possibly come at the cost of being able to bring in what we need in the middle / in attack, that if we'd signed one of Bradley or Nelson for a back 4 we wouldn't be stuck scrabbling around for the right midfielder/striker and things would feel far more balanced

I had that feeling before and after the QPR Final. Similar but less emphatically for the Villa final.
Inexcusably, I also often have that feeling for most Forest games at home.
Bur Burton away... 2nd game of a third division season... with neither the league table nor the recent form having had chance to settle?
Nah. Not even close to being a very big game, and certainly not one that will shape our history.
It's no more than a bread and butter game. It'll neither define our history, or the season.
I suspect most of us will have forgotten the match details/stats by Christmas 2024... if not 2023!

Gisby reacted to Dava75 in Cashin
I disagree too. Can’t question his desire and determination to win the ball - but he wasn’t beaten so many times in the air against Wigan - was no coincidence that Wyke chose to drift into this space for goal kicks, he was also beaten for pace a lot of times. Maybe the latter was accentuated by the slightly different position he’s being asked to play in the first two games. Although fundamentally I think those two areas are going to stop him being much more than a League One CB. I’m not sure he has the composure or passing ability needed to play the CDM role - yes he hits the cross field diagonal every now and again but his basic 5 yard keep it moving stuff can sometimes look very laboured.
Seems easy sitting here and dissecting his game but he’s a far better player than I ever was and I hope he can get back to some of the storming performances we saw for most of last year!

Gisby reacted to Caerphilly Ram in v Wigan (H) Match Thread
Some promising moments, could see the pressing almost working on a couple of occasions, Ward and Wilson offer a threat down the right we simply didn’t have last season, Forsyth showed he can still play lwb to a point (perhaps another cb signing makes more sense with Elder regaining fitness and Fozzy able to cover). However a couple of big defensive lapses cost us today.
This has confirmed what we all knew in that we’re a couple of bodies short and potentially need more pace in midfield. Barkhuizen and Sibley to come back in will help with the forward options as well.
Clearly still work to be done but I’m still optimistic about the season overall. 🐏

Gisby reacted to EnigmaRam in Summer Transfer Suggestion Thread 2023
I wouldn’t waste your breath mate. It’s clear some people think we can spend millions on players and not get into financial difficulties. It’s like they’ve all had amnesia or something.
We all know this team needed at least 10 players in. There’s a limited budget to play with. Some of the deals like Washington and Wilson were very clever imo.
Not really sure what anyone’s got to moan about tbh before a balls even kicked.

Because I choose to be. I’d rather see the chance for positives than negatives in a situation. I accept I can’t control pretty much a single thing the club does, so I don’t stress out about them much. What I can do is look for the good rather than the bad.
We have a strong management team with a good track record at this level. Huge support home and away. Players with talent, skill, experience and ability who even with some limitations can do their jobs well as part of an organised, hard working team that’s pulling in the right direction thanks to a unity and culture being encouraged by the staff. We’ve made some good signings, still have some good players, and the intent is there to strengthen further.
I find it much easier to be optimistic than worry about things far beyond my control.
