I can remember Chelsea getting gates of 10,000 or so and being one of the worst clubs in London. We were a much bigger club than them, and most others in the country for a number of years. At least I was there for the trophies and 35,000 average attendances. Being a sad old bar steward comes in handy sometimes.

Re the Barnsley claim, here's an excellent quote from the Reading Forum which sums up an endearing and admirable faith in the EFL being a competent and even-handed moderator and custodian of the game.
"Would imagine this is a bit of a fishing trip - don't see how this can be possible if we've been working with EFL on the business plan. They must've signed everything off."

I think this one sums up the consequences of the EFL's woeful handling of our situation'

The EFL can reap what they sow from backing the Boro and Wycombe claims.

As several others have previously mentioned, it came out between 5.30 pm and 6.00 pm, which was about the time I arrived back in Derby after the match to pick up the 'Green 'Un', then boarding the No.59 from Tenant Street up to Breadsall Hill Top Estate.
If the paper wasn't out, then I'd wait and then catch the Scarborough Rise bus, which I think went from the Bus Station(?).
I remember the day Derby gained promotion in 1969 and a woman on the bus asked how had they got on, and I just showed the front page to her, which said - PROMOTION, which had took 16 years from to get back to the top division.

68/69 for me. Promotion and League cup games against Chelsea and Everton.

Thanks but the bloody gales up here have knocked the electric out again so that's kyboshed everything. Would have been first time I had seen them live since 1999. Gutted.

I’d rather see Derby play in the conference than give into these two bankers 
The EFL are asking for trouble on the 12th Feb but it’s Derby that will get fined.
