We don't look smart enough to beat injury-hit lower league teams, yet Warne thinks we played well. If the Derby fans have high expectations then it's clear the manager's expectations are low. Soon mediocre performances will be lauded and better times forgotten. The slippery slope is being greased. #COYR

I wonder if warnes taken the team as far as he can.
Football is a results game, and if the results aren't there, something has to change.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We can't continue with Paul warne as our manager getting results like this.

A partial analysis of derbys struggles. A great manager can see what they are doing wrong and put it right.
The article discusses struggles against strong defenses. If your struggling against strong defenses you need better tactics amd greater fire power.

The general conclusion seems to be that we have good technical players who aren't overly athletic or physical. So why not play a system which favours more technical players? No because our manager wants to play the complete opposite

Bring in whatever player you want, but if the tactics are get the ball out wide and hoof it into the box over and over until it falls to you. It's not gonna make any difference

So, just to clarify, the man who saved this 139 year institution at the heart of a city and surrounding areas from extinction with his money, re-hired colleagues who’s livelihoods had been taken away, worked to rebuild the reputation of the club off the pitch by doing things like donating “sponsorship” to a national charity, is looking to run the club as sustainably as possible to secure its long term future, invested in the upkeep of the stadium after years of neglect (after buying that back too), worked collaboratively with the EFL to rebuild relationships long soured, continued to invest in the academy, realigned the football side to include the women’s team, and probably a few more things I can’t recall that others might ….has failed to match your personal opinion and expectations that Warne isn’t the right man for us right now and therefore should be sacked, so you’re disappointed in him?

when he's asked about how games went, he just says things like he need to win headers and 2nd balls. We need to be more physical and aggressive. Our set pieces and long throw ins need to be better. There is never any talk about attacking play or build up, or how to break a team down. I honestly think he just doesn't have any real tactical nouse.

While I've appreciated Paul Warne's efforts since he joined us, it's clear our form under his leadership has been dreadful. After a string of defeats that see us languishing in the wrong part of the table for a club of derbys pedigree.
Warne was brought in to turn things around, but the results speak for themselves - it simply hasn't happened. The squad looks devoid of ideas and motivation lately. Though saying goodbye is difficult, we need fresh tactics and enthusiasm to start winning again.
As much as I respect Warne, the club must come first. Bringing in new leadership gives us the best chance of promotion and getting Derby back where we belong. The fans deserve better and have suffered long enough.
I know making a managerial change is disruptive, but our poor form shows something needs to change. With the right appointment, we can still turn our season around. But sticking with the status quo means more disappointment.
It's time we start looking forward. Let's thank Warne for his efforts and begin the search for a manager who can bring success back to Derby County. Our club's future is at stake.

How do they know we'd be better long term? We may not have the money to sack Warne so their desire to see us lose could be solely detrimental to the club, without silver lining... It's a negative hypothesis based purely on ignorant pessimism about the current coaching staff. It takes some serious mental gymnastics to try and dress that up as ''support''.

I'm unfortunately now strongly in the Warne out group.
Its a shame because I was excited with the appointment at the time and everything apart from on the pitch I really like about Warne.
I do agree that we probably aren't doing as bad as some fans would have you believe and before the start of the season after an underwhelming transfer window i had us down to finish between 4-8, so not out of my own expectations either. However, I guess the issue is that the football does seem to have become less entertaining. As i remarked in another post, last season we showed glimpses of what Warneball is about e.g. Bristol R and Morecambe, maybe the league isn't as weak this season but how we're playing at the moment i can't see us dismantling anybody.
If you was to give Warne the full season and if every fan was bound to support the team and wasn't allowed to boo or slag off the players I imagine we'd finish top 10 maybe top 6. But assuming we'd falter at the play off stage would Clowes then want to go all in on backing Warne for another summer?
If the answer is no, then I do see sense in not dragging out the sorry affair and making a change now in the hope that whoever we bring in can either get us up or be be trusted with next years rebuild (assuming we stay down).
Personally I think the atmosphere around the club has become too toxic and it would take a lengthy set of good results to start to turn the tide back in Warne's favour. If we continue to meander on with this win one week, draw the next and lose the week after that football i can only see the atmosphere continuing to worsen.
Ultimately Warne's current demise appears to be down to; General lethargic and negative play, arguably poor transfer windows and Portsmouth and Oxford starting the season like robots thus making the top 2 seem unlikely after just 11 matches. The final point is completely out of Warne's control in his defence.
Hopefully we get a win tonight and we can springboard off the favourable fixtures. However, a defeat tonight and the pressure will turn up on PW and DC again.

10/10 Especially your points about his character. Most get taken in by his jolly joker persona.
This says it all. But we end up saying it again and again because Clowes or Pearce seem unable to comprehend the mess the Club might get into if we continue with Warne.

    I'd largely agree with that.
Our main weakness this year in terms of players has been the link between midfield and CF. Is it there fault or is it how we play?

I advocated before that Warne should be given until xmas but now I no longer believe that should be the case. I think his attitude is turning increasingly sour on the club, i.e., not going over to the fans, increasingly moaning in the post-match pressers and his 'bubbly attitude' has been melting away for quite some time. It kind of indicates that he's in a fight for his job, and he doesn't really seem that up for it, tbh.
I also think the direction of the play, the club, and the players is backwards. He's actively making us worse, not better. I understand there are periods when a team is settling in a new direction where we may see a downturn. But we are 1/4 of the way through the season with his squad, and let's be honest, it's about as bad as we could have imagined. Having concerns over the style isn't the mark of a customer necessarily, as @Leicester Ram argued; it is perhaps the mark of a philosophical inclination about how you would ideally like to see your team play, which is different. Yet, if we were effective at playing an ugly style people would not be booing and calling for his head. The problem is that we're playing ugly football and are ineffective at executing it.
This drills down to tactical questions. Warne seems completely inflexible with a poor appreciation for what's happening on the pitch. His substitutions oftentimes don't yield results and his analysis doesn't match up with what everyone else is witnessing. He uses phrases such as 'working harder' 'more aggressive' 'more crosses' when we have a team full of ball-playing, technical attackers and midfielders. His inability to adapt to the resources given to him and brought into the club is the mark of a stunted tactical mind who is either unable or unwilling to change. He's frequently misusing players both positionally and putting them into systems which doesn't get the best out of them.
I also think he seems quite temperamental and seemingly finds it difficult to be challenged. This trait has reared its head in public forums and interviews that he's given, which indicates a lack of confidence and character. I doubt it's a happy dressing room, and I don't believe he's someone who can dig us out of this funk. Indeed, I think he's mistaken in the size of the job. He once said it was no bigger than at Rotherham. Well, at Rotherham, I imagine he cultivated a culture where he knew everyone from the tea lady to the director, creating a single-minded unity without that much outside scrutiny. Here, it's a whole different ball game and I imagine shaping the culture to his desired ways is quite difficult with the size of the institution.
Ultimately, I believe if Clowes sacked him now, he'd be doing the right thing. Warne has over a prolonged period of time disappointed with results and has had brought in enough players for it to be called his squad. I can't see us going anywhere under him at this point as we don't seem to be changing anything. I believe that's largely because he buys the s*** he's saying on radio derby. If Warne genuinely thinks this is good and we're just unlucky we should get rid of him asap before he does too much damage. Previously I have said give him until Christmas, which i could still stomach, but i think it'd just be throwing more points away.
