  1. Based on level of debt we could have sold this club for 10 million more than Hull, with part of that deferred and payments to Morris over 5 years to clear MSD.  The wage bill won't be 1.5 million in the red come the summer.  If we had a competent set of administrators and a competent body had put down the ridiculous claims outside the administration remit like they should have, we still have a club Clueless bamfords all round.

Don’t write it off just yet, we always come good in the second half of the season, and well over half our squad finished 5th last season, now we’ve brought some quality in on transfer deadline day, to replace last summers departees, confidence seems to be flooding back.

I'll be fair.  You've had a couple of decent results.  Couldn't see you getting anther .  But Santa brought us 4 wins and a draw in 5 at Christmas.  Probably both doomed as it stands.

I don't get this - what has changed between the fall of the Soviet Union and now which  means that Russia suddenly has "no choice" but to begin a hostile military assault on another democratic country?

Nothing, more than show over 7 or 8 days that NATO members won't do much to help them.  That's the basic purpose.  So far some bank accounts - but not all- have been frozen and I imagine some protective but not military armoury such as helmets has arrived in a lorry.

Ukraine is releasing inmates and criminal suspects with a military background so they can join the fight against Russia’s “special operation”  in the country, an official in Ukraine's prosecutor general’s office confirmed on Sunday.

Sinyuk was quoted by Hromadske as saying that Sergey Torbin, a former combat veteran, was one of the inmates released. Torbin previously fought in the conflict with the DPR and LPR. He was jailed for six years and six months in 2018 for his role in the murder of a civil rights activist and anti-corruption campaigner Kateryna Handziuk. The woman was doused with acid in July 2018 on a street outside her home and died in the hospital with severe burns later that year.

Sinyuk said Torbin handpicked former inmates for his squad after his early release. He added that another ex-serviceman, Dmitry Balabukha, sentenced to nine years in jail for stabbing a man to death at a bus stop after an argument in 2018, had also been released.

    Unpleasant but not uncommon.

The USA did this with a chap in prison, doing life term for murdering someone in a bar fight when they needed a particularly trained person to drop the Hiroshima bomb.  Stay in prison or arm this for us in mid air and we'll let you out.  When it comes to it and its needed they all do it. All those NAZI party members who built the V2 somehow found their way onto the NASA space program as well.

  5. That was Catterall by 8 rounds.  Don't mind Taylor normally but the dragging back and hitting and throwing into the ropes was pure desperation. And trying to use the shoulder to the face in Round 9 should have had a point deducted as well - then Catterall gets one Probably 9 rounds to 3 really Appalling decision.

Fella had a pretty remarkable imagination! Doubtless you already know this, but just in case, there's a good few Sci-Fi classics derived from his novels and short stories. Check out Total Recall (1990), Blade Runner (1982) and Minority Report (2002) if you've not already seen them.

Have you seen A Scanner Darkly.  Could not make head nor tail what was going on in that bugger.

Me neither although that's the scenario we might have faced had the likes of Alonso been successful. What worries me is the amount of time they were in administration and how they almost went out of business (I'm only on episode 2 though so I don't know the full details yet. No spoilers please).

The worst case scenario in my head is exiting administration but with a further 15 point deduction.

Its a worry in some ways.  There's a lot of debt but we owed over 30 million in 2006 and got sold.  If Mel plays ball with the stadium and accepts a payment in line with paying MSD back and the new owner accepts upkeep costs, that shouldn't happen.  Pay all football creditors and agree a 40% upfront payment with HMRC and an ongoing payment plan for a negotiated remainder with quarterly review to see if they can get more, should be reached with relative smoothness.  Heard nothing about Wycombe so hopefully that ball bag isn't causing an issue.

Example a 5 million sale goes ahead for a player.  HMRC will get some of the cash, or will need full clarity of where the moneys going.  Having a load of players leave for nowt in 5 months is not in their interest in getting a lot of cash due as the business won't be viable but the contracts will have to reflect realistic figures.  There ain't going to be any cash signings or big wages shelled out for a bit with that kind of review.

I hope it's not a bad omen but I've just started listening to The Trillion Dollar Conman about the Notts County takeover after they had been in administration for well over a year on BBC sounds.

This is the club that paid Sol Campbell and Sven 90k a week each in League 2.  I didn't think even we entered that world of Twilight Zone bat poo craziness.

Didn't say I was referring to Luton myself, just generally we are hopeless away, godawful, only Barnsley & Peterborough with worse away forn.

You'd be correct though.  This quality this season in the league is appalling.  A hard working team who are 14th/15th in a regular season.  There not great.

We just don't create enough.  If Morrison isn't in the team to go forward as often as possible, I struggle with his place in the side. We have one up top and you have to have players around that player for it to be effective.

At this point I'd once again like to give a shout out to our Captain.  Hope he's enjoying his holiday.

I also think he had an ability to make things happen, a bit of a maverick. I just think the club and most fans had wildly different expectations of the exact player he was. He was immense in our unbeaten run under Mac2 and his return was vital under Lampard, having wrongly been hung out to dry. I would have kept him, if the wages were vastly reduced!

He did actually sign a new contract, got interviewed about the coming season on Radio Derby, then went on a free to Blackburn the following day.

The wonderful and weird world of Derby County since 2019.

Was that what he was going to pay for us?

I think if that was the case his hand would have been snapped off.  Can't believe Preston is worth anywhere near that price, unless some is deferred if they ever get promoted.

    a ducking joke

    a ducking waste of money

    a complete duck up.......

    I'm sure there are more

I was quite happy with that one at the time.  Although to be fair, I knew both Butterfield and Blackman were dog poo long before we signed them.  I watched with despair as we competed with Sheff Wednesday for a bloke who hadn't scored in 10 games and was out of contract in 6 months.  First 1 million then 1.5, then finally 2.7 and doubling of original wage offer to match it no doubt. Hope he enjoyed us paying for his 4 year European sight seeing tour.

    Feel a bit better now.
