gccrowdpleaser reacted to mwram1973 in Martyn Waghorn - gone to Coventry City
How can professional footballers not understand how to play football?. They would have trained all week with the style and tactics in mind.
Do people really think they do duck all, all week then Rooney comes in on match day and tells em how to play?.
This sounds like players who aren't good enough, blaming the manager. Easy way out.

What was Waghorn's excuse for being crap the rest of the season bar about 60 minutes?!

Err that would be an entirely new case, if it were to happen.
For which we'd have mitigation given the EFL left it years before challenging our amortisation policy.

Still a phenomenal amount of money.
Average wage in Championship is 29k per week but that is hugely inflated by Premier League Clubs coming down and ridiculous spending from the likes of Derby.
Average wage in League One is a little over 5k.
Hamer at Coventry on 8.5k a week.
Ikpeazu on 3k at Wycombe.
Just two examples of quality players on significantly less than 11.5k.
Players coming down from Scotland will be on less. Players with no club with the right attitude will do a stint like CKR to earn a new deal and bigger money.
As disappointing as all this is it really does feel like there is an ability to reset that we've needed for absolutely years.
I'm not sure who we will bring in or how this season will go but I'm sure that whether it is in Championship or League One will have the right people in to play and if not then we'll not have clowns on 20k plus per week that spend half their life on the treatment table
We have saleable assetts in Knight and Sibley and potentially Bird if he bucks his ideas up.

It shows the complete mess that English football has got itself in regarding player wages when a limit of £11,500 per week for an average Championship player is considered a restriction/punishment.
Madness.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to Simmo’s left foot in Jack Marriott - joined Peterborough
Another decent trio of wages wages off the books, don't forget the club has lost two thirds of its income, and will continue to do so for the next season. Young hungry players and a few experienced free signings is what I expect to see this season. Mid table at best I suspect. That must be another £1 million per year wages reduction, on players who have not really contributed in the last season. Sensible in my opinion.
Shame its not worked out for Jack though, exiting player when he is on it, but he seems to lack ambition.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to ilkleyram in EFL Verdict
I do - think the EFL have handled it appallingly, not just the whole affair but the announcement of the DC result.
In over 50 years of watching football I can't recall a similar situation where it has been made so explicit that Team A and Team B's fixtures and Divisions might be swapped around, and with 6 weeks to go. I don't have too much sympathy for Wycombe and their gobby chairman but they are in the same situation as us. They have no idea which division they will be in to plan accordingly. They've already sold at least one player who might have stayed if they had been in the Championship. It matters not a jot what is likely to happen about an appeal, in one statement they have effectively put the preseason planning of two clubs, maybe other clubs wanting to trade players and the livelihoods of unknown numbers of players at risk and uncertainty.
Releasing any statement of that magnitude just before midnight without going through a process of agreeing it with the parties involved (never mind being deliberately imprecise in several pretty important areas) is incompetent at best. It was driven by the sudden realisation that the fixtures came out the next day - fixtures that they knew were coming out on that date for months. Somebody in the EFL panicked and for what? It didn't have to be made. No doubt they were also putting huge pressure on the DC behind the scenes to come to a conclusion, possibly before the DC were properly ready to do so. That may have worked in our favour slightly.
The EFL have shown themselves to have a rulebook that is not fit for purpose, a disciplinary process that is not fit for purpose and an organisation devoid of leadership in thrall to the EPL, TV companies and the players' union. It has shown itself as being incapable of leading its members safely through a completely exceptional time when incomes have been decimated. Where we now tread so others will follow too (and already have) and unless they change significantly other clubs and fans will have to suffer their gross mismanagement of the game.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to OoooMarkWright in Jack Marriott - joined Peterborough
The club are to blame for many things, but the plight of Jack Marriott is not one. A player with great promise who couldn’t be arsed to stay fit and work hard. Only himself to blame. Yes, he has been affected by change of managers/playing style, but his attitude has by all accounts been below average. A shame, but his loss. He won’t play for a bigger club than Derby in his career.

gccrowdpleaser got a reaction from Tiverton Ram in Jack Marriott - joined Peterborough
This is where Derby fans drive me crazy. Marriott has offered nothing to Derby or Sheff Weds over thr last 2 years. We are a club with no income (like many others) and our cloth is finally being cut accordingly. No squad can or should carry passengers and there is no room for sentiment at this critical stage for Derby.
Wish him well but the last thing he did was score vs Leeds in May 2019. We move on.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to kevinhectoring in Pearce could be removed from EFL roll
It’s easy to see what he has done. He’s done what any mega rich fan would do. He’s tried to win promotion against clubs owned by billionaires and clubs that receive parachute payments. He’s very nearly succeeded. He’s made mistakes, some foolish and some calculated risks.
ManU fans hate Glazer because he’s in it for the money. IMHO it’s wrong to attribute those motives to Mel.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to Mihangel in Henry Gabay
The only thing that you can 'assume' is that Gabay had a charge on the company GELLAW NEWCO 202 LIMITED meaning you can also assume he lent the club a sum of money at that time. That may, or may not, have been paid off as it is quite common for the charge being satisfied not being registered on companies house.
I've said before, the great unwashed and Kieran Maguire should stay away from companies house until they've proven they understand the data.

gccrowdpleaser reacted to JfR in What will our punishment be?
Should be noted that Sheffield Wednesday's 6 point (originally 12 point) penalty was for an £18m overspend during the three-year period in question, one that the club was aware of having committed. That would seem a far more serious P&S rule break than what Derby are accused of.

Papertalk only on the £2.3m. Even when successful he wouldn't automatically be entitled to the amount of compensation indicated.
Other elements taken into consideration on settlement would include the loss Derby made in his wages as he wasn't insured due to not wearing a seat belt.
He was also paid by somebody else within that contract period and so Derby would, at worst, only have to settle the difference.
There are caps and balances in place for this and I guarantee this isn't the figure that will be paid to him.
