How is "throwing money at it" the same as "running the club responsibly"?
And does anyone think that David Clowes "lacks ambition"? He's probably just a bit more patient in pursuit of it than some disastrous owners and some fans are.

I really hope we are not still identifying targets.
The club have been in the promotion hunt for weeks, so surely the recruitment department have spent the last few weeks discussing with Paul Warne what kind of players he thinks we will need for if we go up.
If we are still identifying targets, then what the hell have they been playing at?

Attacking players by their very nature struggle to get into games at times, though? It applies to almost every single attacking player in the Football League and 80% of the Premier League - essentially anyone who isn't playing at an elite level.
My frustration was the limited amount of time Sibley was afforded to his peers. It always felt like he needed to score or assist in every game without the threat of being dropped. It created a bad environment for him to develop IMO. It happens, of course, not always the best players at academy level continue the progression through to senior football. I really do feel like with Sibs we have really dropped the ball, obviously that's my subjective opinion, but above all else I want to see him progress and settle somewhere. I don't think that's at Rotherham (personally) but it's arguably not under Warne at Derby either.

What I will say about Rooney is that he is amazingly driven. He must really want to be a manager to keep stepping down like this.
It would have been much easier to do what Neville did after Valencia. Live off your reputation as a player and keep taking Sky's money.
But no, he is determined to pick himself up and try again and again.
    That, I can respect.

To be fair, they did have Onana in goal so perhaps players just thought they’d have a go and stand a decent chance.
When you’ve got to beat Stephen Bywater/Lewis Price/Roy Carroll, it’s a much harder task and you’re probably better off passing.

I agree with what you are saying . I would have to ask the question - without the handouts from the Prem . Would the best players in the Championship , have to go abroad to get better wages ? ( I also think good Championship players have now become just bench- warmers in the Prem)

Its just madness the money and the way the prem clubs are run! I hate the bussiness side of football! I dont see how clubs can really compete unless they go into big debts!

The prem just want to turn it all into a franchise and open shops all around the world and sell merchandise for the so called "big" clubs to get even more money!
They moan theres too many games but f off for tours during the winter beak! They get rid of the fa cup replays but newcastle and tottenham do a 24 hour flight to oz a week after the season finishes to do a tour! Drives me mad 😡🤬😤
I hated the idea of a european super league when it was floated a few years ago but the more i think about it the more its growing on me! Take the franchise clubs and f off on your european greed train and let the proper clubs sort out a proper league where footballs run sustainably!

The Prem are saying - That if you take away Parachute payments , the promoted teams won’t dare sign top players from all over the world .If you get up - owners have to invest in the squad first , before the gravy train can start . Burnley went up with 101 pts and invested £100 mill , only to come down . It’s high stakes gambling . I can’t see David Clowes wanting to play .

He's already had two seasons in the championship where he was mostly excellent,he will actually be better in a league where there is a little more football played imo

I understand we should be harsh moving up to the champ, but sibley is a ram through and through, rarely injured and always gives 100% aswell as being able to cover a number of positions and roles. He is still only 22 and to replace desire, hard work and potential in today’s market can be costly. Definitely should be trying to keep him.

Coventry should be our model, not Ipswich. They haven't spent a fortune, have a decent if unsexy manager and came up from league 1. In their first season, they finished 16th then 12th then 5th then 9th with an FA Cup semi-final achieved as well. It is possible to be successful in the championship without spending a ton of money but it requires an ethos, properly planned management and consistency.  For my money anywhere between 12th and 18th is a solid achievement. Any lower than that and depending on the budget then questions should be asked. Anything higher than 12th and it's an extremely good season but I'm not expecting it.

I'm not sure about your original post about non-payment of football creditors leading to a -15 point deduction, because I'm pretty sure that in that case the likely outcome would be having the club's Golden Share, which ensures entry to the EFL, withdrawn - I think the -15 points is for failure to pay 25% of money due to non-football creditors?

Dordogne-Ram reacted to SSD in Worst Refereeing decision for and against Derby.
    Pro decision:
Chris Martin winning a penalty vs Blackpool 13/14. He barely got touched, took about 5 big strides, realised he didn't have control of the ball, fell crash bang on the deck. Ref blew the whistle. Comical decision, classic wardrobe.

    Worst decision:
I know it has been mentioned plenty of times (deservedly so), Atwell disallowing the Addison headed goal vs Red Dogs. Scandalous. The roof blew off Pride Park in pure anger. If Rob Earnshaw had scored the winner from running down the field afterwards, I don't think Atwell would have made it out of Derby alive. The state of refereeing in this country is summed up by that man being one of our "elite officials" yet he refereed that match and the Watford ghost goal in the same season.

I'd say Derby is no worse than many other small cities.
The Museum of Making is an internationally award-winning museum.
The Pickford collection is world-renowned for being hosted in the city.
Our engineering past and present is awe-inspiring.
Festivals like Format and Feste attract thousands to the city.
Derbion, not to everyone's tastes, but is an excellent shopping destination.
Darley, Markeaton and Allestree parks all in walking distance, Peaks and Dales a short drive.
Yes, St Peters St had a drug problem, but has improved from 5-10yrs ago. It still needs help, lots of empty shops but no different to any other city.
Huge numbers of homes are being built in the city centre, the Goods Yard is being rebuilt, a new performance venue is imminent, as is a new business school.
It's not perfect, but efforts are being made to improve it and if you are linked to the city, it would be better served by not running it down all the time.
Articles like the Which one are lazy, reductive and usually written by sneering journalists who haven't left London in a decade. So yes, Derby isn't as easy to get around as the capital, and it doesn't have the same level of cultural facilities, perhaps investment in our region that matches what other regions receive would help.
And it's a far better place than Stoke at the very least!
