The fixture doesn't need to be postponed if they're missing. They can't even make the match day squad.

While that is true, I expect we used the younger players to make up the numbers to call for the postponement due to the fact that Washington and NML are key first team members that would've significantly weakened our attacking options.
There is no point in postponing the match if we have our first choice squad available for selection. Better to keep the fixtures spaced out and not have a busy calendar at the end of the season.

I think LWB is the ideal position for him.  Having played at LB for a fair chunk of last season I thought he’d be a good LWB for this.  He already had the attacking side of his game and I think Warne and his team did a good job working on the defensive side last season.
I find him a frustrating player when he’s in midfield.  He’s too inconsistent and doesn’t seem to grab hold of the game.  Also, I think at LWB he has a bit more space as he’s not marked as tightly.  That gives him more time and space to create or, as he did yesterday, drift into the box to shoot.

I know we have eyes on a bigger prize but, with 10 games to play, we’re now 12 points clear of seventh so a minimum of the play offs is now pretty much nailed on.
Great platform just to go for it from here.

Indeed. Did what we had to do. Some other results went our way. Don’t like to say it, seen us implode so often, but we look set for a play off place at least.

Sometimes football is not pure black and white …some don’t seem over bothered with Warne and how we play and others are saying they won’t attend next season with Warne in charge
yet we are currently second which enpowers some arguments/ views  but others see it differently
regardless of league position I often find myself thinking …wow this is poor and it’s mainly due to lack of control in the games we seem to want to play percentage football
I remember the Graham Taylor days at Watford where they went from Div4 to Div1 where Taylor employed someone who worked it out the percentages of which ball was likely to end up in a goal and it was quite industrial route one stuff but I guess it was deemed successful as Watford went through the leagues but to me it was awful to watch
managers who have been seen as succesful  yet parted company with there teams include Pulis at Stoke and Big Sam at a couple of clubs …why ? Mainly because it was crap to watch and the fans complained but some didn’t mind as long as results were ok
my problem is and it’s no way having a go at others who differ in there opinion but I genuinely find our matches very hard to watch a lot of the time
The first 20 against Charlton I really enjoyed but those passages are few and far between we seem to want to get involved in a chaotic non controlling type of game where we must get it forward sometimes when it’s not really on
we don’t seem to ever play patient controlled football and wait for the right openings …and we have some very good players who would thrive at it in this division especially
L1 is poor , if all 24 teams were of a poor ish standard  someone would still be top of that league and that’s where we’re at
I really don’t see anyone as a good side and don’t think any of the top 6 would worry Ipswich or Plymouth from last season
The big problem I see is next season with possibly QPR Reading or Sheff  Weds Rotherham ( L1 specialists !! ) Wrexham Mansfield ( who I think will surprise some ) Charlton and maybe Peterborough I think the league looks more difficult
if we make the play offs I can see us playing like we did under Rowett in the play offs …and that was the last time I felt like I do now….where I look forward and get nervous and excited before every game …..then during the game think …this is crap …and sometimes we’re winning when I think that …
I will shout and support my team until the end of this season but I’m not enjoying it ….2nd or not!

But fair play if you are enjoying it

Not even Warne's disciples would pick Bradley looking at their line-ups - pretty telling.
Anyroad, I'd just settle for getting some defenders off the park. Flat back 4 please, Korey Smith at RB if Nyambe is injured & let's actually play like a 2nd placed team at home against a relegation contender. Dominate the ball, dominate the territory.
Hourihane, Blackett-Taylor & Waghorn to come on later in the game once their 'Cup Final' energy has subsided somewhat.

Assume he means Jack Thompson from the youth team? Extremely talented young 'keeper and will hopefully become a first team regular at some point... not sure this is the right kind of pressure to throw him into straight away though!

So we're plonking Bradley in their penalty area and hoping the ref doesn't notice we've got 12 players on the pitch?

I wonder how many supporters would have selected that back four last night based on what we have seen this season with who was available?
For me the strongest and balanced back four available would have been Nyambe Nelson Cashin Sibley and yes Sibley could be a potential weak link it hasn’t really transpired that way when he has played and not to mention he can cross a ball and shoot.

Last night unfortunately exposed all of Paul Warne's flaws as a manager. Even before Wildsmith's kamikaze moment, the lack of ball retention after going 1-0 up was appalling. Sunday morning rushing to get the ball forward which caused so many unforced errors. What has the manager got against keeping the ball for 10-15 minutes? I know it's dull and boring, we have got to be smarter in certain games. Charlton were a terrible team and we somehow gifted them a win.
Derby had most of the control in the first half. We got the goal, beautiful header by Cashin and another assist for NML. Came out in the 2nd half and kept giving the ball away by forcing it forward. Charlton's press was very aggressive in the 2nd half. Instead of playing it around Charlton and exposing them, we kept pumping the ball forward. In a game where patience and calm was required, we absolutely fell apart.
Making our lives more difficult sums up this season. Even though we've been accumulating a really healthy points total, it has been a proper slog to get points on the board. I hope this is just a small blip and we will get back to form on Saturday!

It feels to me that the momentum we had has been sacrificed all for keeping Sonney Bradley at CH in a starting position. It took a new level last night when our best player /prospect was played at left-back.
The style of football is Sunday Morning Burton & District FA circa 1989 (picture of Terry Whyman pops into my mind’s eye) - smash the ball forward/wide quickly and then “lump it” into the box.

I am even considering not renewing my season ticket after over 10 consecutive seasons, it’s that dire.

Horrific performance from start to finish. Look incapable of a five yard pass. No idea how to create a chance from open play. Wildsmith has lost his mind. Bradley is a joke of a player. Even NML completely missing. Whatever the question is, Waghorn is never the answer. Deserved absolutely nothing from that game. Charlton were fitter, stronger, more athletic, sharper and more positive. Dont know where we go from that.

Awful result. Awful performance. Awful starting line up.
This result has been coming for a while. We simply do not create enough chamces/shots on target & the appalling ball retention is to blame. I'm gobsmacked some folk thought we played well first half...we really didn't. It was a series of aimless hoofs & misplaced passes, Charlton played much the better stuff. We look to have regressed technically & its a concern.
Still can't believe how few attack minded players we started with tonight. The blunt reality is Kane Wilson isn't very effective in the final 3rd so when it was apparent Mendez-Laing was having a quiet game, our attacking threat was reduced to very little. We are 2nd in the table & at home..we should be looking to dominate a team 5th from bottom with their poor form. What happened to this so called 'gung ho' Warne style? Looks like reheated Billy Davies 'snatch & hold on for dear life' to me. Massive improvement needed from here.
