Paul Warne barring a complete disaster has done his job, fair play to him and Clowes got it bang right 👌 but this is not the football I wanna watch week in week out, great that Warne has done his job and taken us up but sorry that’s not for me next year 😢

Maybe there’s a way to get out of League 1 and a different solution for competing in the Championship

Of course the squad needs an overhaul, my concern is where the money is coming from.  DC is running a tight ship - and I approve of that, given the past few years, but if you recall the lean GSE years even they were pumping money into the club and getting nowhere.

You could argue that (assuming we finish the job next weekend) we've gone up too quickly - the squad needs a fair amount of surgery next season to compete and we're still a fair way from any youngsters coming through.  I don't envisage many signings as such, more freebies and loans again.

We we're warned at the fans forum a while back that if we do up we're looking at a couple of seasons of stability before we hopefully push on - to me that means avoid relegation/push for mid-table. Given that we've been in and around the top 6/top 2 for months and some people have still wanted to get rid of PW, unless we've got some 'god tier' scouting lined up next season is gonna be a tough and PW will come under pressure again from the usual suspects.

Personally, unless we get some outside investment I'm okay with slow and financially prudent progression.

Smart recruitment instead of expensive recruitment that we’ve seen before.  Let’s hope and believe that there are good plans already in place

  3. My wife is inconveniently celebrating her 60th Birthday next Saturday and for some reason wants me to be with her in New York so I’ll be missing for the Carlisle game 😞.  Might be an early start to the day to tune in to RamsTV at 7.30am and allowing her a well earned birthday lye in - a few cocktails Friday night should do the trick 🤪

If it was known in advance, it would be easy for someone to knock out a few convincing forgeries - maybe be that was the reason?

Last match of the season must’ve been a bumper day for fraudsters

Not quite as much of a bad luck omen as you, as I missed the Cremonese game, but I too have seen 3 play-off losses in the flesh and seen the solitary victory on TV.

I also missed just 1 home game game in 1996.......v Palace.

I'd rate our chances of winning a 10 game 'mini-league' with the teams in positions 2-5 higher than our chances of a knock-out with the teams in positions 3-6 so top 2 it is......and, for the right price, I'll miss the Carlisle game if it helps.

I’m away for the Carlisle game but back for the play offs 🥴.

1 win in 4 play off finals at Wembley 🤔 Think I would take a top 2 finish 😊

I’ve been to 3 of them……. plus Cremonese to make it 4 defeats out of 4.  All the others Derby have played at Wembley were wins.  I’d definitely take top 2

Promise I won’t go if we get there! 🫣

  7. Great to see the Stefano interview on the club website…. he clearly still has a love for the club.  Commented how he has a hope that he can play a part at the club in the future as a coach or even manager.  He’s been a part of Milan’s Academy coaching set up since 2005 so no real senior coaching experience but his knowledge and approach to the game would be intriguing to see.

Surely they can’t block it, just be so obvious how corrupt they are if they do

I suspect if there is a problem it’ll be down to the “permanent” vrs “ loan” pot issue (includes fees and wages).  We’ve been told that the permanent pot is empty (hence the CBT loan deal).  Gayle is a free agent therefore technically he is a permanent signing albeit probably a short term deal.  Hopefully the Max Bird deal gives us some leeway but I wouldn’t put it past the EFL to be awkward!

  9. Perhaps we’re going to make a double signing announcement of CBT & Smith and leaving it as late as possible to disrupt Reading’s match preparations.

You can see it now with the Reading manager putting panic notes to the group WhatsApp…… “scrap everything I said, Derby have just made a double signing and our intelligence tells us they’re now going to get it out wide and put it into the box”

This is a curious one. I am not sure how much first team football John-Jules is likely to get by staying on.

With his injury record, his lack of minutes so far, and the competition for places, I just struggle to see where he fits in.

He is clearly a more technical player than Collins but I would give Collins the nod every time. For all of his faults, at least with Collins, you know what you are getting.

With John Jules, there is uncertainty over fitness, match sharpness and a general ability to influence games consistently.

If we sign Blackett Taylor to add to NML, Barkhuizen and Wilson, that’s another player who would likely be chosen ahead of John Jules for the forward positions.

I just think he’d only really figure if we are rotating the team or there is an injury crisis. In which case, you would want us to look to the under 21s and take a chance on our own young players, surely?

I do hope he gets fit and ends up scoring some decisive goals, but it’s hard to see it happening.

He might be our own young player come the start of next season……he’s out of contract.  I suspect Warne is thinking beyond this season so he may become more of a (more than useful) impact sub / back up in the run in if we sign another striker

He was wanting the ball to feet so many times, moving into pockets of space. We refused the pass and went sideways. It happened constantly. You could see how wound up by it he was getting. There's definitely a player there though, he has one of the better first touches and other than Sibley, he's probably the only player we have who can shift it and get a shot off.

I agree with this.  Definitely rusty so I understand the doubts but there is a player in there and he has shown glimpses of being a top finisher. He’s had 2 starts in nearly 15 months so understandable that he is not firing on all cylinders.  It’s just whether we can afford the time to build him back up to get the best out of him.  If we strengthen the forward line he may have to settle with being an impact sub / back up striker this season.  I do however think Warne sees him as part of his future plans - he needs to stay fit and earn a contract with us for next season after his Arsenal deal comes to an end.  He seems to like it here

Is it just me that finds it crazy we will offer £300k when he will be free in the summer?

I can only assume we have a fee for Cashin or something already arranged for us to be throwing that money around on someone with 6 months left.

If we have sold anyone then it makes sense that it isn’t announced until we’ve done our business so asking prices don’t go up.

Depends how much the club value promotion to the Championship and how much Paul Warne believes he will help us get there.
