SamUltraRam got a reaction from SKRam in Comparison with 1985/86 Div 3 promotion season - game by game
League game 19 was a top of the table home clash with runaway leaders Reading which ended in a 1 - 1 draw.
Reading had the prolific goal scorer Trevor Senior in their ranks but it was Michael Gilkes who scored in this game
The crowd was the largest of the season so far - 16,140
In 1984/85 we got our 3rd straight league win at home to Orient 1 - 0

League game 18 was an away win at Bolton Wanderers 1 - 0
My memory from this this game was getting bottles thrown at us as we were escorted from the station to the ground
& half the crowd was made up of Derby fans
In 1984/85 we won 2 - 0 at Cambridge Utd - a big game for me as it was my first away game without being 'escorted' by my Dad, thank God for the football special trains

A comfortable 5 - 1 win for Derby

Anyone remember this when the 'Big 5' , Spurs, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool & Everton threatened to breakaway in the 80s.
Weren't they annoyed because in those days league gate receipts were shared between the home and away team ? - that changed around this time I think
Obviously they didn't have to wait too long before the Premier League was born

Gaz (inhaling deeply) "THEY DOCKED US 21 POINTS"
Owen (cutting in) "please join us next week....."

Don’t let the girlfriend know if the game is off , just roll in after the England game . You get out of Xmas shopping and also get another night out in a few weeks.

SamUltraRam reacted to archram in Milton Keynes Dons (A) (Sat 12th Nov 2022)
My first away game since my brain haemorrhage 3 years ago. I’m absolutely exhausted from standing up for the whole game - I realised I had a choice, I could either stand up or sing! I stood up. Non football fans are amazed that I consider it worth it to go to a match at the cost of several days knackered. My response is, I can do something I love and pay the price or not go anywhere and be miserable! A simple choice for me!

I've been informed that the EFL are demanding the Ref is sent back to wherever he came from

We rightly pan refs most weeks for poor decisions but he deserves credit this time for getting the decision right. I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd just gone with the linesman.

Not one to be pedantic (honest) but the first substitute in the English league was in 1965. Also there were no substitutes in the 1966 world cup. Always a great trick quiz question when you ask who were subs for the final.

League game 17 was the one that Derby fans from that era will remember.
Do you remember when the vidiprinter brought up the scores and a big score was spelled out in brackets ?
DERBY COUNTY 7 (seven) LINCOLN CITY 0.
The win put us on 30 points, just 2 ahead of where we are now.
1984/85 game 17 was a 3-1 home win against Doncaster Rovers putting us onto 25 points, 3 behind where we are now

5) August 1992 - the pass back rule was introduced whereby players were no longer allowed to kick the ball to their goalkeepers for him to pick it up
I have memories of Alan Hansen & Mark Lawrenson doing this a lot for Liverpool, passing back to Bruce Grobbelaar
(for a bit of trivia, Grobbelaar grew up in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and has said that he grew up as a Derby County supporter)

I'm loving these match reports and experiences, top work !!
It's disappointing that there are many of our European games that weren't filmed (particularly the away games) so this is a great fill in.
I saw this the other day relating to our away trip to Real Madrid in 1975 - rare footage
