jono reacted to Ken Tram in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
PS. Just because I know that some people appreciate it when I state the blooming obvious ...
... I am fishing for some "well done dear" compliments!
In the meantime, I am going to pretend that it was my post, that led to the appeal for the Chorley-players to be removed from the count of players in "professional standing".
After all, in my world of daydreams, the Chorley-match players were included in the embargo before I wrote my post - and now, one week later, they are not - so it must be true!
PPS. I do aspire to live in the real world again, one day.

Sorry … total gash. Whatever you think of Lawrence he can break a line and create something. Oh ! And he does score goals. He doesn’t do it often enough but it’s there. Joz beats his man and works like a Trojan … leaving those two out is just defeatist self flagellation.

I agree, and let's be honest, he's just warming the seat for Bielik when he returns from injury. Bird lacks something to be that holding/defensive midfielder. He's played better when he's given a bit of freedom to play further forwards. He's got an eye for a pass but when he's played deep, he just ends up passing sideways and backwards.

I really like the look of that side. I might be tempted to start Bird in one of the AM places .. his confidence will be high after the goal and I think he is better higher up the pitch, rather than as a deputy DM that was tried last year. ?

Rooney won't pick this side in a million years as it has Sibley in the starting lineup. For one game, presuming we haven't made signings but hope to, we simply cannot take up the space for a potential signing by giving a debut to someone from the academy. You've got to think of the whole season rather than one match. Max Bird is a level headed intelligent footballer who can play centre half if he has to, though Rooney should have given him some practice. I don't understand people putting 5 foot nothing Byrne in the centre half role.
Roos
Byrne Bird Forsyth Buchanan
Shinnie
Watson Sibley
Jozwiak Kazim-Richards Lawrence
Subs: Marshall Ebosele McDonald Stretton Hutchinson
By my reckoning that's all the players of senior standing we have at the club apart from the injured Knight and Bielik, though I feel I might be missing someone.

So you're saying pick 5 fulls backs, 1 cb & 2 defensive mids for a home game against a potential relegation rival?
If probably say Davies is more match fit than Wisdom currently

Won't name the poster to save their blushes, but this was someone moaning about our squad on here last November. We wish!
The idea that this squad is good is a complete myth. You have to look at it without the academy players. We have 18 senior players in this team.
Marshall - good keeper, relegated with previous 5 clubs
Roos - decent enough
Davies - past it
Forsyth - past it
Wisdom - decent enough
Te Weirik - who knows. Looks out of his depth
Evans - not good enough
Clarke - on loan, only had experience in League one
Byrne - decent player but had a lot of time in League one.
Bielik - young player with potential but only experience in League one
Shinnie - Scotland
Rooney - past it
Holmes - talented but not looked at it for months, only experience in lower leagues
Lawrence - talented but doesn't do it enough
Jordan ibe - who knows
Jozwiak - looks the business
Waghorn - good player but doesn't do enough
Cazim Richards - journeyman. Dreadful scoring record
And that's literally all there is. There's nothing there. It's time to get real about this team.

jono reacted to Carnero in Tickets for Huddersfield Match
You've paid exactly 63% which is:
30% off for ST holder, this takes the £32 down to £22.40
Then you get 10% off the £22.40 as per your selection for the 19/20 refund (Rams tv + 10% off season ticket price)
10% of £22.40 is £2.24
£2.24 off £22.40 = £20.16 the price that you paid.

I suppose it must be .. I winced a bit at 32 quid so was very happy !
Really looking forward to it. I know the pre season friendliest are always nothing more than an indicator but I saw both guts along with solid effort and skill in both the home games. The fire is still burning. I reckon we have more than a chance of a decent show.

jono reacted to Day in Tickets for Huddersfield Match
And there lies the problem, fans demanding an improved team whilst refusing to pay for tickets and streams for the players we have, maybe if we didn't have P&S restrictions you could demand these things I guess, but the balance sheet isn't looking that healthy, especially with Pride Park being empty for 18 months.
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
If we was playing Forest, wouldn't be an issue I would imagine, but the game should still be seen as a big one, the first competitive game with fans back in the stadium. Work starts on persuading my chauffeur tonight ?

jono reacted to G STAR RAM in Tickets for Huddersfield Match
Well the real simple solution to that is...dont go.
You point out that we have got a poor side, do you think charging less than market value for match tickets is going to help us address this problem?

jono got a reaction from Comrade 86 in Bobby Duncan
I always remember Wenger talking about Giggs (I don’t want to get in to Ryans off field behaviour which sounds a bit grim)
But there was Giggs scoring in the prem aged 38 .. Wenger said .. “think of the work, think of the sacrifice to reach that level AND stay there.”
I sort of get the feeling that with Duncan was in the door, saw what was available and thought .. I am good enough for that … but the work / sacrifice side of it didn’t quite reach his attitude ?

jono reacted to Gringo in EFL regulation 24
EFL regulation 24 covers the fielding of a weakened team in a championship league game see below,
Regulation 24 The Requirement to Play Full Strength Sides in League Matches
24.1 Each Club shall play its full strength in all Matches played under the auspices of The League unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Board shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Commission which has the power to impose such penalties as it shall think fit.
My preposition is that if the EFL forces DCFC by means of this Embargo, to knowingly have the Rams field a weakened side at the start of the season, then they will be guilty of breaking their own regulations, and to my mind if we some months later we were able to strengthen the team, and go on a good set of results, we could seriously affect both relegation and promotion in the league.
My view is that given we only currently have without any additional players a team that will find it very difficult to get results, then the EFL is playing with fire, and for once maybe it could be Mr Gibsons team that could be adversely affected.
I am going to write to the EFL to point out they will transgress their own regulations if they do not see sense.
-
jono reacted to Mucker1884 in EFL regulation 24
But "full strength" surely refers to playing the best players we have available... here at the club... registered to us... or at the very least, loaned to us.
The better players you refer to are currently registered to other teams, so we can't possibly play them. Effectively, they don't exist, and cannot therefore be chosen to play for us.
If you write to The EFL on this, they will point and laugh at you.
