He's hardly just a 'self declared expert' That's a label that would be more aptly applied to most of us?
    https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/management/staff/kieran-maguire/
It's rather contradictory to argue that he doesn't know what he's talking when, according to other posters, he's to blame for tipping the EFL off about our non straight line amortisation policy when there accountants hadn't spotted it themselves! Can't really have it both ways can we?
We're all unhappy about the situation the club is in but blaming Maquire is nothing more than shooting the messenger. Mel Morris got us into this mess - no-one else.
His Price of Football podcast (with Kevin Day) is a good listen if you're at all interested in the business/finance side of the game. Having listened to most of them, the only 'agenda' him and Kevin Day have got is that they want to see clubs run in a financially sustainable manner and better governance across football has a whole. What's not to like? He's one of the good guys.

Just thinking out loud here but with all interested parties seemingly now throwing statements and questions around like confetti, should one of our official supporter groups try to engage with Gibson and put some questions to him?
Im thinking of something along the lines of:-
1 - Please confirm how much your claim against DCFC is for, how it is calculated and on what basis it is made
2 - Please confirm why your claim is against DCFC and not the EFL. You will be aware that an IDC found that Derby had not 'systematically cheated' as you claim and had fully acted within the rules.
3 - How many clubs are you aware in recent years that have breached P&S rules and been promoted? Why have you not made claims against any of these clubs?
4 - Is it true that in the year ended 30 June 2016, your club surrendered its tax losses to another of your companies and used the tax saving as profit for P&S purposes? If so, do you believe that this was in the spirit of P&S rules?
5- If your claim is successful, how do you see it affecting the future of the football league, when league positions are decided in a courtroom rather than on the football field.
6 - In light of your recent statement, it appears that you seem very aware of the intracacies of what is happening behind the scenes at DCFC. Given that, by your own admission, you have not been in contact with the administrators can you please confirm how you are obtaining your information.

One particular thing from Boro's statement from 18/1/22 that annoys me is the sentence 'MFC first intimated a claim against Derby County in May 2019 immediately following the end of the 2018/19 season.'
Our season hadn't quite finished. Derby were informed of the claim three days before the play-off final v Aston Villa. I agree with Mel Morris' comment on this at the time 'I consider the timing of their action to be cynical, an open attempt to try and steal our focus ahead of a crucial game.'
Gibson knows all about timing and continues this now, with his claim put in to a club in administration that he knows will block the sale and cause our liquidation.

For all we know, Ashley or any preferred bidder may be saying ‘look, we are willing to take on the claims after the takeover. However we would prefer not to, put the pressure on, if it’s not resolved at the very last minute we will step in.’ That for example could be one scenario. There are games being played, very dangerous games by all involved. Let’s just hope someone somewhere blinks and makes the right decision for the sake of Derby’s future.

Totally agree we had an amortisation policy that the EFL checked and said was ok. Then when we were too far down poo creek they took our paddle off us and on top of that have let Wycombe and Middle Borough sue us.
    I can’t fathom it out.

The other way to look at this is to question the timing of the club going into administration. Was the club put into administration in some part because MM knew the boro claim was pending?
i don’t know the answer, but Gibson has been open about his intention to take action since before the club was put into administration.

It does seem faintly archaic that away tickets can't be printed or downloaded on mobiles. Clubs seem to want to lessen their environmental impact and this would make a small difference. I know I can't preach given the amount of travelling I do mostly for home games, but that's another matter...
Can understand you being gutted. My son lives in Reading and comes to a few Derby games with me, and it would have been good to meet up with him for this.

Sorry, not great when postal issues mess up a business. I've bought away tickets by post for many years from Derby and ?not had an issue yet.
I can completely understand the club does not want to risk the Christmas post and have to deal with supporters whose tickets haven't arrived in time. However just having the match listed on the away ticket section of the club website rather than remove it from there, with the info that tickets can be picked up in person from Pride Park, would have meant more away fans would be going next Monday than is the case.

Am having a hissy fit over the Reading tickets. The club website has been updated to say pay on the day not available. Even now, however, information on ticketing for the game isn't listed under away games in the ticket section, only the Coventry FA Cup one is. They've put it in the 'breaking news' list so it's not apparent without scrolling through match reports, player interviews etc.
As I felt sorry for our plight at the start of the season I even became a member and one of the benefits was priority on tickets, and I can't recall getting an email, and can't find one doing a search of them, on Reading tickets and when they can be bought.
It would have been three of us going but I can't justify the time or petrol to drive to Derby to buy from our ticket office now. A right old sulk coming on as I would have bought them on Monday when up for the WBA game but made the incorrect assumption they were being left for pay on the day due to Covid uncertainties in case the game was called off.

Exactly my position. I was sucked in by the hype and thought I'd give it another go after decades of non-watching what to me had become a tedious procession. I thought it would be great to watch a sporting finale unencumbered by having to worry about contrived rules, legal small print and drawn out appeals etc that supporting Derby had become...
The FIA may have shot themselves in the foot here, as in trying to make it a more exciting spectacle by bizarrely suddenly changing the rules during the crucial part of a race, they've turned people off like me as World of Sport wrestling on ITV Saturday afternoons with Dickie Davies feels less fixed (one for the kids, there).

I can't understand, if he hasn't worked his way through his initial reported £500m net worth, why Mel Morris doesn't bite the bullet and settle the club debts that accrued under his tenure, so it can be sold to another owner. Surely he will still be left enough to live on after this.
The alternative of leaving a legacy of being a pariah in the city and the negative effects on 10s of thousands of people in Derby and the repercussions this is going to have across the wider footballing world makes me think there must be something else going on as it otherwise just doesn't make sense.

Looking this up it does appear to have similarities, especially with the amount Sheffield United claimed against West Ham.
    https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/uk-sport/19289469.day-2007-west-ham-accept-fine-tevez-mascherano-deal/
"West Ham and Sheffield United eventually reached an out-of-court settlement to end their dispute in March 2009.
The Blades initially valued their claim at £45million but the actual figure agreed was reported to be around £20million, with payments spread over a five-year period."

WestKentRam got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Steve Gibson trying to liquidate Derby
In recent interviews Carl Jackson of Quatuma has said the action by Boro and WW will have to be resolved before the sale of Derby can go through. If this rumbles on without resolution then surely it increases the risk of the club being liquidated as no buyer will step in with a further £45m claim hanging over them.
It reminds me of when it was reported in the press three days before the play off final v Villa in May 2019 that Gibson planned to sue Derby. It felt like the timing was a deliberate attempt to destabilise our preparations for the match.
So I wouldn't be surprised to see this drag on and be the last remaining stumbling block to a sale after HMRC and other issues re debts have been resolved. I can't see with his history against Derby that Gibson is going to roll over and give up his claim without a prolonged legal battle and this is exactly what we do not want at the moment.

There is something about his actions that seem out of kilter. My guess is he has certain ethics that he thinks have been breached. Everything I know about him in industry speaks of a straight shooter who plays fair. He’s also been supportive of managers in difficulty. Before all this I saw him as one of the good guys, so one wonders what the story is behind the story ?

It seems to me there must be more behind Gibson expecting Derby to somehow stump up £45m that I cannot see will ever happen.
Ryan Hills informative book 'Pride' tells in its early chapters the history of Pride Park being planned and built. Gibson was very helpful to Peter Gadsby in this, as the blueprint for PP was the same as the already constructed Riverside Stadium. Gibson listed the features that he wished had been incorporated into their stadium, and 22 upgrades were made to PP when it was built helped by Gibson's advice.
It must be a bit galling for Gibson to see the club he has helped in the past seemingly cheat its way into a play-off spot at their expense. Like the lead character in a Hollywood movie, revenge will be his!
Looking at Gibson's Wikipedia page, this theme again jumps out at me as apparently he has accused others of 'betrayal' in the political arena, but then all is not lost as a 'reconciliation' occurs in the final act. I only hope this saga comes to such a happy conclusion and we can move on and concentrate on the small matter of an actual game of football...
