Bolton's average home attendance this season is down by about 100.

Incidentally, so is ours - although a full house against Carlisle will raise it to above last season's average.

A couple of points about attendances -

Derby head the list for the highest average away attendance in League 1 this season - this is surprising because we don't have the 'advantage' in that statistic of an away game at Pride Park.

Derby are bottom of the list for 'highest away attendance' for precisely the same reason. Every other club's highest away attendance has been when they come to Pride Park.

Seems odd as we had 5k at Barnsley

Completely disagree. If, by some miracle, we went up this year, we have most of a team out of contract and will be able to replace from a much better pool of players available to us.

You don’t refuse promotion over some notion you aren’t “ready”. You get up by any means necessary and stay there by the same methods.

Yes. You go up when you go up. Why anyone would want another season in this god forsaken league on some worry we might not be ready os mad. We'd go up with a reasonably clear slate player wise with, let's face it, as good a budget as half the teams in the championship.

I can’t help but feel we’re trying to find as many things as possible to slag PW off about (there are plenty of fully justified reasons without searching out half hearted reasons). I agree the comment about formation was a tad unnecessary but I’m sure Dom will get over it. With regard to any fans that may have left, personally I don’t think he was being sarky and I don’t think he was “wittering on”, he made one comment, I’m sure he’s said it before (he may even have said it in this interview, I’ve not listened back to it) that he gets it when/if fans leave before the final whistle.

I probably am finding stuff to moan about tbf. I've gone from quite liking the bloke to now being completely wound up by everything he says. And the football is generally crap, and we were lucky yesterday. But hey a wins a win. On to Vale.

I’ve been very much on the fence with regards to Warne. I hate the chopping and changing and really wanted him to succeed. I keep hoping that we’re turning a corner but yesterday was yet another awful performance only rescued by NML - without him we’d have been praying for a 0-0 bore draw…. And then to hear the obnoxious manager being interviewed on RD and patronising Dom about the formation “we changed the formation in the second half and if you didn’t notice that, you don’t get football” was disgraceful. We may make the playoffs, we’re might even scrape automatics if we can put a solid run together, but I’m finished with the bloke and his stupid hats - sooner he’s gone the better…..

Right snidy comments. Whilst as part of the interview with Dom, it's always aimed at the fans, like we don't know what were talking about. Also wittering on about appreciating the fans that didn't leave when BR equalised, which was a sarky comment about those that did. I must be one of those that doesn't know football as he implied he went 3/5 at the back at half time where it was when he brought the Colossus Sonny Bradley on after our goal for me. At a point where we weren't in any trouble and BR hadn't done anything 2nd half. Almost a change to invite them on. But I might have missed the tactical change at half time as I was half cut but I'm sure Warne just plays games with these interviews.

The opposition midfielder looking better than any of ours is becoming a common theme - too often we surrender the area due to Warne’s ‘get it out wide at all costs’ tactics. I’m pleased you worked out where Korey was playing yesterday - I hadn’t got a clue who should have been doing what - and it seemed a lot of the players were equally as confused…..

Not sure it's entirely the get it out wide tactic, more about the slow, old and seemingly 80% effort of Hourahaine and Smith. It's such a shame Liam Thompson has a long injury as you'd have thought he'd walk into this midfield. And how Fornah doesn't start is beyond me - Warne's lack of trust in the young and inexperienced over underperforming seasoned pros is sometimes baffling.

Wass back until the end of the season to steady the ship? Not very ambitious but considering the precarious situation with most of the first team out of contract next summer and unlikely to be many incoming in January it makes some sense to have a clean slate (again) next summer for somebody new.

Eh? He's got a job at the FA. Gonna come back for 5 months? Can we just get a proper manager in with some sort of desire to play decent football.

I remember people saying they wouldn’t mind us going down because we get to go to some new grounds and win some more games that was pure nonsense at the time & even more nonsense with hindsight

this league is a complete hellhole

It certainly is. Also those other classic quotes 'too soon to go up' consolidate in this league' 'and only we'd get relegated if we went up' what nonsense.

Rule 13.2 of the EFL handbook states that clubs must register their pitch dimensions at the start of the season and these can only be altered during the season with the EFL’s written consent which will be only be given in exceptional circumstances.

Maybe it was different in Jim Smith’s time.

Fair enough 😉 wonder what exceptional circumstances could be. Some c*** and bull wear issues from lino so bring them in or something. Thanks for clarifying. Everyday is a school day and all that.

You mean trying the manage the clubs finances reasonably within its means rather than splashing the cash? I must confess I haven’t heard the radio Derby interview to which you refer. What exactly did he say to indicate he had been promised money that was not forthcoming? (Genuine question

Towards the end of the interview Warne commented he knows(knew) what's needed to fix the lack of taking chances (decent striker). Radio Derby then discussed lack of promised funds in the summer was what he was probably getting at.  As we know, none of the Knight money became available (confirmed by Pearce at the fans forum as going into 'operating costs' of the football club) and Jordan Rhodes was in the building but never got over the line and we ended up with bargain basement Washington and then Waghorn by fluke.

As others have suggested, it's where the club is at and that's where we have to shop, at the Washington's store until we shift/contracts run out, of some/all of the high earning Hourahaine, Collins, NML, Barkhausen, Smiths  et al. Or Pearce opens his mini war chest in Jan - as I can't believe we don't have a pot to piss in following good cup runs, AVE 27k last season, 22k season tickets, and the Knight money. If we were that hard up they should have cashed in on Cashin but didn't.

For me things don't add up and if Warne was promised more than he got then I have some sympathy.  Bit only some lol, as the results and general play from the the end of last season to now have been woeful. The lack of a decent striker doesn't forgive general style and shape of the team. It's been pretty grim.

I’m not 100% sure but I think you have to submit your pitch dimensions at the start of the season and you can’t change them after that.

You can change the dimensions any time within the max and min limits. They usually keep them the same as they match up the training pitches and training drills to suit. Seem to remember Jim Smith moving the side lines in and out a few times depending on who we were playing. But some places are tight so never move, the BBG and Highbury spring to mind as they were the smallest pitches in the league back then.

Dinosaur? Has Warnock been appointed already? 😀

I can think of many things to call PW but dinosaur isn’t one of them. Also, what has Pearce got to do with anything? If you’re alluding to his time under Mel’s tenure, this has been discussed at length and I think most accept that if DC feels he’s worthy of keeping on we should respect that decision. It seems odd to lash out at him right now.

Pearce holds the purse strings. Did you not listen to the radio Derby interview? Warne hinting he hadn't been given what was promised.

Win our game in hand and we're in the play-offs.

You'd have to have a seriously nasty vendetta to sack a man with the club in such a position, particularly as he has had no money to spend and dabble in a market of free transfers.

Less than a quarter of the season to go, performances have improved every so slightly, the team has some serious shortcomings of which I do not blame Warne for the reasons I previously mentioned.

What exactly do you want? What are your expectations long term? I am intrigued as to the state of mind to anyone that would seriously want our manager gone. Who would you replace him with? What would you have the players do differently?

What was your tipping point for wanting Warne out, as you appear to have made your mind up?

Oh, and my last question to you. How do you suggest going about the financial implications of firing Warne (and his backroom staff as we may as well throw them all in) and is this approach sustainable?

3 weeks ago it was 'win the game in hand and we go 2nd'. For me the tipping point will be 'win the game in hand and we go 10th'  if we're not in the playoffs at the turn of the year he has to go.

I'm not so sure we'd have to pay up all the contract, as despite the length of contracts given, it's  usually a rolling 12month severance for pay. But you're probably right it'll still have financial implications to fire his team. But can we afford not to if we are adrift of the top 2 by then?

Out of Saturdays game as sent off last night

Shame as I was hoping to give the lad a cheer as he was good for Derby

    🐏

Was hoping he would play as he's pretty slow these days. Bet he's gutted.

He's a disgrace to this football club.

I think the fans can put up with midtable if they can see us trying to play actual football & bringing through youngsters & can see progress.

Warne isnt a long or short term solution. His football & tactics are terrible & i have no trust in him to take us forward or have another transfer window.

    Its worse than Phil Brown

Can't have that. We weren't great second half but nowhere near as bad as those last 6 games of Phil Brown.

Not sure if this a great joke or a serious post.... If it's serious, then it's absolutely bonkers. At what point can we start critiquing the decisions made by Clowes? Is there a sell-by date where saving the club loses its power for us to say Warne is the wrong man? Of course, every derby fan will forever be grateful to Clowes for saving the club. How could we not be. But that doesn't mean thinking every move he makes is right, nor do we lose our right as fans to have our say. If we take anything from the Morris era, it should be that allowing an owner carte blanche for whatever reason is a lousy idea.

So far on the big calls I'd say he's 0-3. I thought he was wrong to oust Rosenior after 10 games, wrong to bring Paul Warne in, and wrong to keep Pearce around. On the plus side, he's stabilised the club, not been reckless with the cash and seems to have brought a much better culture with him at the club.

    3-3 then

Where have I stated I believe Warne is lying to us? I actually believe he's telling the truth - he believes the U21s aren't good enough for the first team.

What I disagree on is his judgement on their ability and most importantly, how they should be introduced to the first team.

Warne cited Chesterfield as a reason to to use Robinson in the first team. A side who were 3rd, behind a side curenelty top of L2 and another who are in the Playoffs. They would give most L1 sides a tough game.

Warne has referred to 'trust' a few times. What he actually means by this is he only wants to sue players who are st least top half L1 quality (in his opinion), and won't trust them if they are below that level. He needs to trust the player not to make a mistake which could cost the team points (and Warne's job)

To develop players, a manager needs to trust his players. They need to have faith in the process, where youngsters will make mistakes, but improve as a result.

The academy was buzzing when Lampard was manager. He showed a serious interest in the youngsters, watched a lot of the games, knew their names, drafted a high number of them into training and gave them minutes on the pitch. He even trusted Bird to make his first league start in an important gane against Villa and called Knight up to the squad for the Playoffs.

Warne couldn't even give the correct score or name the hattrick scorer from the game he watched just a few hours earlier. You trust his judgement on if a player should or shouldn't be given a few minutes of action in the first team?

You disagree on his judgement on their ability - wow, you must watch a lot of U16, U18 & U21 games and most of their training sessions.

  17. 42 minutes ago, Curtains said:

So I assume it’s not true then .

Maybe Warne does have an interest in the academy or he relies on Jake Buxton and Bradley Johnson to inform him if any players are ready for 1st team yet.
This discussion goes on all the time regarding how good the academy players are.

Agree. The academy was decimated. Last year's U21s won one game all season. They were playing young lads to fulfill fixtures. They've started the rebuild this season, so it's fair to expect a few to start coming through during the season. Warne is right, last season and at present they weren't/aren't good enough. But this should improve. Like the club as a whole, the academy is in reset and rebuild, can't see why people can't see this.

  18. Used to play cricket with Roundy and Davo when they were just breaking into the Derby first team, never in a million years I'd I've thought he'd get to the heights he has- just seemed too laid back, but it was a long time ago😄. Fair play to him as he was a sound lad back then, as was Davo. He's had a great career and long may it continue.
