If he does, hi Paul, you should really stop reading the forum, there's good reasons why posters on here are from just about every walk of life except for successful careers in professional football.

Just listened to the TalkSport interview. As you would expect he came over really well. I don’t think there are many managers that have his level of emotional intelligence. It’s clear there is lots of thought and planning behind everything, Paul and his team clearly live and breathe and put the hours in. Really interesting there’s two systems he’ll focus on in preseason and basically the players need to know everything about it so have to do their homework and be prepared to talk about it.
Also it’s clear that he sees good dressing room environment as a potential differentiator and focuses on it heavily,  Personally I think this is why we beat Bolton  automatic, when we weren’t playing well the squad togetherness got us through. Most successful underdogs have strong dressing rooms and togetherness. Look at Luton Cov those sorts of teams. It can bridge some of the gap in quality where teams have bigger budgets. Interesting the whole Warne being appointed was basically Stephen Pearce liking Warne’s interviews, listening to his podcast and basically concluding this is the type of manager we want running our club. Human first and foremost.
I also found it interesting when Matterface was asking him on Derbys budget last season trying to infer maybe Derby didn’t have the biggest budget and overachieved last season, Warne genuinely didn’t know if we had the biggest budget he saw the team as top 4, not necessarily top 2 which is how I saw it. However more interesting he said that in his 3 Rotherham promotions not once did he have a top 6 budget. I think we need to put some more respect on just what he achieved there.

This season is his acid test, he will be battling expectancy, but he’s here as he wants to push Derby towards the premier league and go beyond  where he’s been as a manager before so he has the hunger, he creates a positive environment for people to be at their best and has demonstrated throughout his career thus far he can overachieve his budget, something we will need to do if we are to ever get back to the premier as there won’t ever be a scenario until we’re promoted that we have a top 3 or even top 6 budget. He’s definitely the right man for now and I really hope he proves to everyone this season just how good he is.

This is a very nice thread without piffling rules, regulations or any necessity to be accurate or truthful.
In fact I think this thread should stand for Parliament. I’d vote for it

The transition from Steve McClaren to Gary Rowett is one of the most devastating pieces of mismanagement many of us will ever see at the club. We were under no restrictions, had more money than ever and were already one of the best sides in the division - still managed to monumentally f*** it.
McClaren’s sacking the first time around is where it all went wrong. We haven’t had a set of players and manager that suited each other so well since. We had a clear identity and willingly threw it away.
The link to the Newcastle was completely overblown by a section of media/fans around the club that are insistent on shooting themselves in the foot.
If it wasn’t for an injury crisis we’d have gone up that season automatically and no one would have been bothered about Newcastle.
McClaren’s poor media skills turned him into a pantomime villain - he said he wouldn’t go at one point but kept getting asked. He’s also said that, before he was sacked, he’d decided to stay.
His resultant sacking was the beginning of the end, from then on we spent years and millions of pounds chasing what we already had with him and Simmo.
You only have to look at who Mel hired in the following two seasons to see that he had absolutely no clue what direction to go in once we’d lost that identity. There was no theme to Clement to Pearson, back to McClaren and eventually Rowett.
It turned us into an unrecognisable blob of several managers ideas that, outside of Lampard’s loans, have never looked like we could go up to the Premier League and stick since.
When we ended up with Rowett we had a manager who was the polar opposite of McClaren (defensive and media savvy). That side was then dismantled after wasting two years where McClaren could have got them up.
Not saying McClaren was perfect but sticking with him was our best bet.

😢 in the end he was a surprisingly good addition to the club. There’s a sense of closure in a way that a number of those who joined after admin to help rebuild the club are heading off with a sort of “mission accomplished”.

You'd get 9 assists playing in a team which scores so many from corners when you take every single one of them. Stats are nothing without context.
Legs have gone, he was a liability. We improved immensely when Warne finally realised it.

Very well said. The clubs want the TV money, to pay ever increasing fees, commissions and wages. So they have rolled over and sold out to SKY.
Its got to stop, a simple wage cap, points deducted if any trading loss declared, and no more parachute payments. Ditch the sky deal completely, and start again.
I won't subscribe to SKY as a matter of principle. I've also really enjoyed watching football at 3pm most saturdays either at Pride Park or on Rams TV for away games.

Having been relegated twice from the Championship should at least have give Warne a good idea of what works and what doesn't in that league. He clearly knows how to get out of this league which was the number 1 priority, get us out and get us out quickly. That has meant that we have limited the haemorrhaging of money and our best young players, both from the first team squad and the academy to a minimum.
Warne's last attempt at the Championship was short lived but successful up to that point. So hopefully that's an indicator that lessons had perhaps been learned. He should certainly be better prepared for the tactics and standards required this time. When you listen to Warne its obvious that he's a bright guy, he's far more erudite than most football managers you listen to so it seems inconceivable to me that he can fail to understand the tactical nuances that his arm chair critics - myself included - accuse him of. Bright guys are better than most at learning too. So why did we hate the football so? I'm coming to the conclusion that Warne knew better than we did that the ugly, basic football the team played a lot of the time was the most effective at that level. He said - and I criticised him for it -  ''my job is not to entertain the fans, its to get results''. My criticism at the time was 'no Paul, your job is to do both'. Whilst I still think so, maybe I should concede that his view, as a professional, is that to do both may be possible but with this squad would be less certain to get promotion quickly which was the overriding priority.
So lets see how recruitment goes, this summer and next January. I think we will make a solid return to the Championship finishing comfortably mid table and then kick on the following season

Not really , that thread , that thread ?,
this forum was made pretty much unusable for a fair time , a new Warne out thread every ten minutes , every other thread invaded and turned into a Warne out thread by a very determined few posters ,brow beating , swamping people who just wanted to support and read about derby county and happy to be patient with the manager, eventually people got sick to death with it and started to fight back against this aided by the sterling job it was becoming clearer and clearer Warne was doing ,,,then what ? A rewrite of history and veiled accusations of bullying ,,, really ?
some really need to take a long hard look at the state this forum was becoming and the behaviour of some posters who were brow beating the hell out of people on virtually every thread🤷🏻‍♂️

I respect your opinion @sage you always seem well informed and insightful but on this occasion I’m inclined to disagree; he’s not a star indeed but I do believe he’ll be just as effective in the Championship as he was in L1. I also believe he’ll get better and he’s got more goals in his locker. 😲

Warne was given a 4 season deal, of which he's got two left.
Warne's brief was to deliver an established Championship club. He's achieved the first step.
The conduct of Mr Clowes' tenure so far is pretty strong evidence that Warne will get every chance to deliver.
Unless and until we have a catastrophic spell where the team have clearly thrown in the towel and we're cut adrift in the relegation zone, Warne will stay.
If we could agree on that premise, surely it'd be best for club that we refrain from indulging ourselves with the topic for a few months at least?

I'm also guilty of questioning the timing of certain posts/topics, including one of Sage's, the summer transfer suggestion thread, which in my opinion was absurd to be thinking about in February when we had no idea what league we would be in.
The topic remains open, into page 39, doesn't change my opinion that it should have been a conversation to be starting this week.
Same with Paul Warne's future and worrying about the style of football in the Championship. We're there now, makes sense if those want to voice their concerns.
There is a huge difference though between being told you cannot talk about something, quiet, sssh, lock it and voicing an opinion which questions the timing.
I also think most regular members should be able to read the room at this stage, you know roughly where people stand and if you're going to throw out a controversial take 10 minutes after the final whistle after gaining promotion, kinda got to accept the criticism you would get for that.
Also, theres been some goading from the other side if you like following promotion, forcing humble pie down someone's throat will only be spat back in your face. If you actually read what those critical of Warne are saying, promotion wouldn't change the concern they have going forward, so yeah, lose the first 2 or 3 I'm sure we'll be back to the same debate.
Although for me, if you give the manager the summer, got to give them until Christmas then barring any complete and utter disaster situation which we saw under Pearson.
All in my opinion of course.
