  1. I still think Paul Warne is more comfortable and his virtues more evident when it's an underdog situation - getting the squad to stick together and believe in each other, work hard, be fitter, know how we're defending x,y,z the other team try to do (etc) which you need if you're trying to stay up but aren't super exciting when you're supposed to be dominating most games and rolling over lesser teams. I also feel like that's where some of the disgruntlement with him stems from, we're supposed to be the big fish in this little league 1 pond.

Partly because of that I feel like he'd actualy be OK with us in the championship as we look to consolidate. He probably does a limit and I perhaps don't see him taking us to the promotion fight in the championship but, getting us to lower mid table, I can see.

I have never understood how football has allowed this bizarre situation to be accepted where the Clubs pay the fees for the player’s agents. These players employ their agents- they work for them and benefit from their efforts. Yet the Clubs pay the fees ! It’s nonsense. The players themselves should be paying for THEIR agent’s fees.

    Madness.

I've also always thought that because of this, it's in agent's interest to keep moving players around as much as they can as they get a sweet cut of any move - and I'm pretty certain there's been more than one player made a move they wouldn't really made but for the advice of their agent and it's not worked out for them.

The "look at them throwing money around" narrative is going to come up a lot over the next few weeks.

Sky, the premier league and the EFL could see illegal streaming as a symptom of what they have created and try to proactively meet fans halfway and come up with a solution that doesn’t harm the pyramid but allows for clubs to still stream.

Instead they treat illegal streaming as a problem in its own right.

An example of an idea which will have its obvious flaws but gets a conversation started:

Clubs can stream to fans who have a paid membership. This membership allows fans access to purchasing the stream for a match.

Membership fees go into a pool to be redistributed across the football pyramid.

Clubs earn their revenue from the sale of the stream not the membership.

Agreed with all of that. The illegal streaming is a symptom. It's not like sky is a cheap option.

I wonder if below prem level, it's not that it's even worth it to sky to put on the EFL games, they purely want to have the rights as a device to steer consumers of football content towards the main premier League stuff.

If they don't show it at all, there will be no 'international' coverage.

They can offer international coverage, so I guess it depends on the numbers if it's worthwhile. If it's not profitable they may cut it which is a huge shame as ramstv is pretty good.

I'm pretty sure they'll still have the radio Derby coverage.

Excellent stuff. Do they provide this type of analysis for every race? It's actually way better than the F1.com equivalent.

I think so, but can't remember off the top of my head. Planet F1 are a decent website, although a bit prone to the "10 articles on the same story phrased slightly different" and "exciting rumour that someone made up but here's a story about it" content volumiser stuff.

  6. Derby 3-1 Leyton

CBT make amends for his Wycombe miss.

"Well, we have two games left and we'll have to see where what we do stacks up against what others do and how that looks in a tabulated form. I have to say I'm delighted for Corrie given some of the criticism that came his way after Wednesday, most of it from myself"

  7. So, Alonso is staying at AM for 2 more years, i guess the grapevine has told him he's not getting the red bull or merc drive.

One less potential landing spot for Carlos, but still think red bull ultimatly want to move on from Perez so he might have a chance at that and we have to see if merc have the courage of their convictions about young Kimi Antonelli.

NGL, I wanted the Max v Fernando firework display and one last title charge from the master. I don't think that'll happen at AM.

  8. In times of tension and when the weight of expectations are upon you, I always keep in mind a couple of inspirational quotes:

"Every corpse on mount Everest was once a highly motivated individual"

    And

"Shoot for for the moon, and land amongst the stars, as you die alone in the cold vacuum of space."

So yes, belief is everything. I just waiver on Paul warne and his bobble hat some days.

  9. It seems to have been missed in the general unhappiness last night, but PW did manage to start going off on one about having rose petals thrown in front of him like a Roman emperor (thus adding further evidence to the claim about all men think about the Roman empire).

"Paul Warne titled himself Emperor Hoofitup Three atlabakus and had a glorious victory over barbarians of Bolton and Blackpool, before being overthrown in the millenniumram rebellion "

  10. Now that it's not in our hands anymore, I expect the team to go back into "good" mode.

But the thing with it being out of our hands, is until our rivals drop points themselves, there's little we can do about it, beyond winning our last 3 and hoping.

If it comes to play offs I don't back this team, I think they'll blow it.

2nd is not done, but we're needing help from outside to do it.
