A lot of if's but's and maybe's. We, with a little luck could have won away at Fleetwood, Shrewsbury and Charlton. Iffy decisions on a penalty and 2 disallowed goals at Lincoln. Plymouth's 2nd goal a good yard offside. We could have been looking at 9 additional points on our current total. I wonder what Clowes and the board would have done in them circumstances.

Depths?? We're 7th, one point outside the play-off places after playing most of the season with one misfiring striker and Richard Stearman at Centre-Half (no offence intended Rich) ?
You can justify anything on the basis of "didn't meet expectations", particularly when those expectations haven't been explicitly stated. Now we know that it's "promotion or bust" we can understand better why they've gone for a more experienced and successful manager at this level. We'll also know when to start speculating about who's taking over next.
I hope this proves to be a bold and hugely successful appointment. If it isn't, we've got another sizeable compensation package to fund so I hope the Board has factored that possibility into the budgets too, because Mel never did.

Was it Clowes own assessment or was it the boards, or even Stephen Pearce  who under Mel Morris must have known what was going on under his tenure. I hope to be proven wrong but I think this appointment will fail and within 2 years Warne and his coaching staff will be shown the door. We have compensation to pay to Rotherham and giving Warne a contract until the summer of 2026 will be costly if they do axe him. This all stinks of Stephen Pearce's doing, I hope David Clowes has deep pockets.

My expectations have gone down, unless Paul Warne can prove me wrong. His style of football will have to change with the current squad we have. If we revert to what Rotherham have done in the last 6 years it won't be nice to watch and if he does manage to get us up, standby for a relegation season the following year. I predict the man will be sacked within 2 years.

Get the interim appointment to some degree but then to appoint someone who adopts a completely different strategy when it comes to football, different to the players we have, and also someone with a long association with a small club with a small club mentality, its random, it does just not fit, it’s the same as Mel sacking Steve McClaren and appointing Nigel Pearson.

I will back him as i do any manager (I don’t question a manager after 5 games) but I’m concerned this is exactly the approach the likes of Sunderland and Sheff Utd followed and they were down here years.

Warne may fit the bill with his previous success at League one level, but does his style of play fit the bill with our current squad. I think this could be a massive mistake by the hierarchy at this club. I hope I am wrong, or perhaps Warne might adapt a different style of play, than his Rowett/ball kind of tactics/style.

We all knew we had a fabulous squad for this division. If I'd spent 53 million on our club and we were on the edge of the playoffs early doors with a rookie manager, still not having sorted out our away form, I'd be thinking " for an extra 750K in compensation I could get better ", I'd be twisting, not sticking.

Don't forget he was a very reluctant fan-buyer. He doesn't have billions. 53 mill is still a massive risk. The only way I would have stuck with Liam at this point is if he was six points clear at the top of the division. Even then I'd be fretting...

So DC bought the club on the basis that it was s*** or bust this season with autos as the only available option (7 points away with a mere 37 games to go) Really?

    Ironic.
We're not here to mess around but we're going to give someone the job on an interim basis, let them develop a certain style of play suited to the players we could get (the only players we could get) and then, 2 months after the start of the season, we're going to look to employ a manager who's style of play is the polar opposite of the one we've done all that work on and which doesn't suit the players we've signed (the only players we could get).
Sounds suspiciously like messing around to me!

It is not a transitional season. We can’t be happy for to bum around in league one whilst Liam ‘learns his trade’. The aim is to get promoted straight away.
Chester is too old to play right back and Smith would be the same as Knight, a centre midfielder playing in the wrong position.
The issue now is we play Oduroh and risk mistakes or we try to convert someone into a right back. Either way it is a risk.

I honestly think Liam will be in trouble soon. We simply are not good enough. I keep banging on about it but this decision not to acquire a right bank and play Knight there is major alarm bells.

Bit harsh, doesn't help when we are technically playing with two deep-lying playmakers with no energy around them. Put some energy in and we shall see a difference. But for that it's either Bird or Hourihane. One or the other with Knighty, not both.

That chance came from Knight running at them through the middle. If Liam needed a hint, he just got a fecking big one.
