It's a gamble and at that price worth it, But where are we in the pecking order for these types of players, The EPL have swathes of scouts, Contacts, Agents looking for the same player, The EPL clubs will just buy them to stop others buying them and farm them out for loans.
Championship clubs hope to pick up these loans, League1 clubs need to be of a standing where the parent club feel good letting a prospect and getting game time down here in league1.
PW has a task I don't envy, Daggers are being drawn as I post where PWs longevity at DCFC is under scrutiny, Sharp would be a good signing but after his rhetoric concerning DCFC/Fans would he really come here, There'll be other suiters I'll wager.
As for the fans the old saying from Abe Lincoln is very apt...

Di'Shon Bernard (22), just announced he'll be leaving Man Utd as a free agent this summer, can play RB/CB so would be ideal at Right Centre back in a three, He is 6'2 with a good passing range also has good pace aswell as being physical,
He was on loan at Portsmouth for the second half of the season this year playing 10 games, but in those 10 games had very impressive numbers, which I've compared to our two main Centre backs this season in Cashin and Fozzy,
                                                                Bernard           Cashin            Fozzy
    Successful tackles p90         -  0.98                1.17                  0.57                      Blocks p90                             - 0.56                 0.23                 0.15 Clearance's p90                    - 4.19                  4.15                  4.70 Headed Clearance's p90      - 2.65                 2.51                  2.47 Interceptions p90                  - 2.79                 1.83                  1.05                    Doesn't worry me to much how he has only 10 games to go off, as in 21/22 he played 28 games for hull in the championship and was well capable at that level, I think he'd be a great addition and ticks a lot of boxes for us.

Pompey Forum fans all over this one already.
Getting this deal done for Bernard should be a clear sign to the Supporters that Pompey are serious about building a young, talented team with the ability to get promotion. If another L1 team beats them to his signature this would equally be a bad sign

Transfer window opens Wednesday 14th. Get it done Pompey!
…………seems to have made a good impression whilst on loan.

The Sunderland Echo newspaper estimated that Sunderland’s promotion to the Championship in 2021/22 would increase their league 1 tv money from between £800,000/ 1million to around £6 million plus an increase in commercial revenue and larger attendances would make a realistic return of around £8-10 million.
With the increased Sky tv deal from season 24/25 League 1 will see a 25% increase from the tv pot whilst the Championship will see an increase of 45%.
So, from 24/25 it’s either a tv deal worth between £1/1.25 million in League 1 or a deal in the Championship worth around £8.7 million plus increased revenues, therefore the financial implications of not getting promoted this season are going to be huge!

…………….I certainly know which league I’d rather be in!

The guy oozed class both on and off the pitch. Absolute joy to watch and worth the entrance fee alone. Hope he gets the fairytale ending to his career. He deserves it.
Having said that, I'm still incredibly disappointed to lose him. We have our work cut out replacing such quality. So long Didzy it was a pleasure to watch you.

I think I played in the same prims team as you, you were quite a cultured full back/sweeper if I’ve got the right person.  You always had a fag in your mouth straight after the match

That’ll be your hamstring mate, I’m 57 and did mine last month playing walking football. I played CM most of the time always thought I played like Graeme Souness it’d be Jan Molby now, turn round and walk back to the half way line as goal celebration can’t be doing with any of this running malarkey

Just going in to my 30th consecutive year of playing football this coming season. Played most of it up top as a pressing striker before pressing was even cool and even at 34 I still run further than the 18 yr olds. Although, let’s be clear, I’ve had to in order to cover up the lack of any discernible talent 😂
I did get scouted to join the academy when I was young. Went down once and then went home and told my mum I didn’t know anyone there so didn’t want to go back. Which, still to this day, is the worst decision I have ever made 😂
and I’m a miserable bar-steward these days so I just turn and jog back to the half way line whenever I do score 🤣

We're a league1 team that I'd imagine pays a very good wage for where we are, Bristol City are in the Championship and owned by a Billionaire(Lansdown), We don't know why he chose Bristol City over us, We don't even know whether HR was offered anything by PW, My guess is £££s played a big part, Are Bristol top 6 material?, I didn't think Coventry or Sunderland were but both got there, The Championship is a very average division so Bristol have a chance if they buy and play well.
People talk about DCFC that we are a Premiership club in the waiting because of the facilities we have and the crowds we can generate, The issue is...we're a league1 team, Money is a route cause...imo and there's a certain amount of players who would consider moving to PP, Lower Championship players, Up and coming/established league1 and 2 players and maybe 1 or 2 from the conference or over seas, There, Yes we have the pull over some, But £££ could be the issue.

Fail to be too bothered whoever we play pre-season. We've had all kinds of differing pre-seasons through the years and it never seems to have a massive impact on the season itself regardless of who we play. I think what happens between those games is clearly what's more important.
