If Warne doesn't get us promoted his position is simply untenable, and performances like this are the reason why.

Agreed. Failing to get results or even play well in games as important as these have been completely unacceptable.
Bolton must be absolutely delighted that we’ve yet again gifted them an opportunity to overtake us.

  2. Dire yet again.
Get Warne gone and bring someone in to look at getting us promoted next year, playing actual football in the process.

Hilariously depressing to hear Washington is potentially out until the end of the season with a knee issue. An issue he’d had operated on in the summer, and we still chose to sign him knowing our budgets were limited.
Who in their right mind would sign a 31 year old striker who has just had a knee op. I’m not sure what’s more amateur, Warnes tactics or his transfer decisions.

  3. Not a fan of that lineup/formation but we’ll see…

Blackett-Taylor “injured” is intriguing, could be legit as the noises from the club were that he was able to play against Charlton when signing. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious!

Can’t help but think that Ward and Sibley as fullbacks leaves us quite exposed. Neither are great defensively.

Wish we had Wildsmith back in goal. Vickers has done ok, but I don’t feel as comfortable with him in.

Be good to see how that midfield 3 gets on though! Been crying out for a bit more energy in the middle. Would be nice to see us actually using the middle of the pitch in this game mind.

    You ramssss

I cant stand the entitled attitude of some of our fanbase.

Because them pots are limited and the players we went after were not available within our constraints?

I don’t think it’s entitled for the fans to want a striker in, a position that everyone, including the manager had highlighted as a priority.

Plenty of clubs in this league with less money than us signed a striker. We needed bodies in as we literally have no fit backups.
This month was purely and simply a failure

What an absolute bunch of whinging cry babies some of you are.

Knew that it wouldn't take many of you long to forget where we were 18 months ago.

Can’t stand these kind of responses.

If the club were open and transparent instead of getting fans hopes up, the reactions would be a lot more understanding.

Why go around telling the media there are pots to spend to strengthen and then fail to do so?

The club have thoroughly let the fans down this January.

  6. 20 minutes to go but it’s not looking great is it…

Failing to strengthen further will undoubtedly cost us promotion and you’d think Warne his job.
Unless something drastic happens this January has yet again has not been good enough

  7. Willing to see what he can do, but sounds like more of another puts a shift in midfielder as opposed to a technical player. Our midfield issues aren’t going to be resolved by running around more…

That said, if he comes in we change the system allowing the likes of Bird and Hourihane to do the better bits of football I can’t see why he won’t improve us.

11 games played in 2 seasons is obviously pretty concerning, even if his injury was a freak one. His last full season was 2 years ago at league 2, which again is concerning.

Not trying to pile on and be overly negative, but from a realistic standpoint this doesn’t strike me as a player we’ve scouted for a while and he’s a massive gamble both ability and fitness wise.

Hopefully he adds a bit of something in the middle, and at minimum he’s another body in for the run in to cover injuries.

We signed another winger what more do you want? Play the players to their strengths not the formation you want to play - I see we went 3 at the back again to get Bradley on the pitch and Ward as a wingback. Why? There had been plenty of wide players on the pitch. The manager is limited and tactically poor. Stop blaming players who are told to take 'two touches' in midfield and get it wide!

    Exactly this!

This thread feels like we’re placing blame on the midfield (admittedly I don’t think bird or Hourihane have been good enough this year) when in reality most of the problem is tactical. We flat out don’t use the midfield effectively.

Warne outright said last night that they’d tried to bypass the midfield. Why after that clearly hadn’t worked all game we decided to throw on 2 more wide players and try it again baffles me.

If it’s not getting the ball up the field outwide quickly, Warne doesn’t have any other ideas.
I don’t recall a single attack going through the centre of the pitch last night.

Scared of playing football in L1 against a struggling side, this is a serious low in my time following the club. No dynamics and predictable play. We'd get battered if we went up.

Yep. My biggest concern about going up.

His Rotherham teams were absolutely shambolic in the championship and had nothing to do with their budget.
I think he’d had done alright 15/20 years ago, but football has dramatically changed since then. Sadly for us, Paul Warne hasn’t

  10. Terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Absolutely bottled about as easy of an opportunity to go top of the league as you’ll get. The players and coaching staff should be utterly ashamed of themselves.

My biggest frustration is with how poor we are, and have been all season.

If we had an even half decent manager, capable of playing good football we’d win this league by an absolute mile. Our position in this league is entirely down to us having better players than the other teams in the division, not down to tactics.

I’m not calling to sack Warne, but I do believe he’s never going to be the manager we need him to be. If we go up this year I think it would be difficult to reflect on it as being a good year footballing wise, and I’d be extremely surprised if he was still our manager 12 months down the line.
Fail to go up this year in a league this poor and he absolutely has to go.
