I’m not looking to kill any conversations critiquing Paul Warne professionally. There are examples in this and other threads that I view as being more personal comment than professional. An example of it early in this thread calls him an effin’ clown. There are plenty of comments about his values, his standing in the game, his choice of headwear, his relationship with his players and the like that strike me as school ground in their nature.

I would make an argument that these are all quite valid things to critique a football manager on in fairness.
He makes this jovial personality into a big part of his management style, if some fans are against it, I’d hazard a guess that there would be players that would be as well.

There’s a lot more to football management than tactical nous.

Personally I think Paul Warne comes across as a decent genuine bloke. I think  a few times this season he’s let his openness and passion get the better of him, but I don’t think he’s a bad person at all.

However, he does come across as a bit of a people pleaser, and almost trying too hard to do so. Says all the right things but really fails to deliver on a lot of them.
I genuinely wish him success, that said I don’t think it’ll be at Derby, and if it is I hope it’s playing a significantly different style of football.

HT fairly even game where we’ve probably had the better chances, but pompy maybe a bit more of the play.

That said don’t let anyone fool you into  thinking pompy are playing beautiful football, they are lumping it long whenever it suits them.

We've got a bit of a problem in cm, Fornah is on his last warning so has to be careful and Embleton looks off the pace. We’re going to need to do something about that area as it’s where pompy are strong

They’ve at least tried a few little flicks and some passages of play. Our sole tactic is to play balls down the channel. It’s bloody awful

  3. As much as I really like Cashin and losing him would’ve been catastrophic for our season, that £4million would’ve been massive for us.

No chance we get anywhere near that unless he signs a long term deal and has a really good couple of seasons and we go up.

Failing to sell our assets for good money is a large part of why we’ve failed as a club for decades (not to say this one is necessarily our fault).

We’ll be lucky to get £1.5mill in January, or even less from a tribunal in the summer.

He wasn't found guilty of anything so is innocent and therefore why not?

I expect an announcement by United come Monday after the final has been happened.

Not sure why this is being discussed as part of our summer rumours thread…

However, case being dropped does not equal innocence.
I feel like this shouldn’t need to be explained.

I’ve heard PW has spoken to Tyrese Fornah today - believe he was on loan at Reading last season.

No idea how much truth is in it tbh.

Getting a player on loan from Forest would be properly embarrassing wouldn’t it

  6. Although I think signing a right back and playing 4 at the back is the right move, it doesn’t half get on my t*ts that Warne couldn’t see the players he’s splashed all our wage budget on wouldn’t fit that system. So needs to now spend our remaining budget signing a 3rd player capable of playing on the right hand side of our defence.
Either that or Wards injury is a bad one.

Yet again another player over the age of 30 with absolutely no resale value or room to improve. I just don’t understand what is going on with our recruitment this year at all.

  7. I thought he should’ve gone when we failed to make the playoffs. However, was willing to give him a pre season to sign some players, and see how we started.

We’re way, way worse than we were before. There is absolutely no excuses now. He’s prioritised defenders that are making mistakes left right and centre, leaving us with nothing to sign attacking players. Playing a system that doesn’t work for any of the players we currently have and is making them look way worse than they collectively are.

It’s not working at all. Enough is enough for me.

  8. Think he comes across as a great bloke, and absolutely gave his all for us at times, especially that Wednesday game.

However, if this is where we’re at in terms of signing attacking players it’s a pretty scathing insight to our recruitment at the minute.

I’d be absolutely fine with him as a 4th choice option, but with Washington yet to feature in a friendly, he’d be our 2nd choice going into the start of the season.

To say we needed another good striking option even before we lost Mcgoldrick, it’s really not looking all that promising going into this season. Obviously there’s still a few weeks left to bring players in, but it’s unlikely to be anyone of any real top quality is it?

  9. Be pretty disappointed if our front 3 going into this season are Collins, Washington and Rhodes.
If we’ve had since about September last year to come up with ideas and these are the best we can do, then on paper it’s not great is it?

Would it kill the club to do more overseas scouting? They don’t always work out, but most of our UK based signings don’t either. At least there’d be an element of the unknown.
