At the end of the day, Rooney was the perfect man for the situation that we found ourselves in, he built a great siege mentality. That being said, getting promoted is a different thing all together, who knows if it would have even worked? I don't think it's the end of the world, but it's definitely a shame he never got a chance.

Have I missed something about DC being reluctant and wanting more people in with him?  OK, buying a football club may not have been in his plans for 2022, but he seems like a pretty smart man and, regardless of his emotional attachment, I doubt he’d do it if he didn’t really want to.  As part of the EFL tests I’m sure a new owner has to prove they can fund the club for a minimum of 2 years so that must already be in place.
Personally, I really hope we can get back a more sustainable or common sense way of running the club.  No more massive fees or long contracts with high wages.  If it takes a few seasons to get back to the Championship that’s fine.  We need to remember, and not just now but as we go through the season, we are pretty much at rock bottom.  Fingers crossed we’re out of administration this week, lost the manager, threadbare squad without a recognised goalkeeper.  2022/23 is about laying the foundations for future seasons.

The whole thing is just sad, sad, sad. No real positive anyone just which awful situation is less awful than the next. False hope shows up after every slightest positive.  I want to take my grandkids to follow the rams just as all my grandfathers did not sit there and say " when I was your age we supported the local team - Derby County. We went to Wembley a few times and won a bit you know. Google them if you dont believe me!" Dear god give us some hope soon. We dont deserve this death by a thousand cuts. Just get it done or over with soon and let us all breathe again.

At some point the EFL will take away the league membership, the only thing at the moment that is making a sale viable.
Once they decide to do that, liquidation is inevitable.
It won’t be decided by the creditors or the administrators, it will be decided by the EFL.

Buyers don't believe it.  The administrators know the creditors want more than they are being offered.  But no one is offering.  If admin can keep this ticking along they will until no more options are available.  They will not accept a penny less.... until they do.
Creditors get nothing in a no deal outcome. The admins work for Creditors.  The creditors are not going to want nothing on a multi million investment (HMRC might, as they care less about the money and more about what general internal policy is).
I said numerous times last week that we will see this play out.  Admins saying "your bids are too low, up them or no deal".  The other side will continue ignoring said statement.  This will continue to play out until the day the money actually runs out.
Admins are forced to liquidate if that is the best outcome for the Creditors.  It won't be, as they will get more in a cheap sale.  EFL is a league.  People are acting as though their "rules" are "statute".  They are not.  If Creditors agree in a deal, they will accept that deal.
EFL Rules: Made by them; changeable by them; internal policy, not law.
Statute and Common Law: The law of the land.  Fixed, or set by legal precedent.

I was just positing a scenario, as I said, it would be extremely divisive. I'd never criticize another fan for making that choice.
But we have seen with the Glazers at Man United, another divisive ownership, that fans still turn up. I remember the depressing clip (BBC) of a Man United fan replying in the affirmative that he'd still pay £££s for his replica kit/tickets etc despite so many others objecting.
Morris does not care about the fan-base, he could have been more flexible during administration. Kieran Maguire has mentioned in the past that his other businesses did not suffer during the pandemic, so I get the impression that he isn't in the desperate situation the late Lionel Pickering found himself, virtually losing everything.
Morris has shown a disregard towards authority (EFL) in the past, so is it so hard to imagine him showing a similar lack of respect towards Derby supporters?
But I'd like to point out that if Morris thinks retaining ownership would work, then he is fooling himself. I think it would be a bad idea in the long-term, and apathy could set in. We may get back to the Championship (Hull under the unpopular Elams), but I think most of us will never forget/forgive him for what he put the club/its playing staff/employees through.

The longer this process drags on, the less certain I feel though I like to think something will get sorted out.
However, the nightmare scenario is that Morris retains control of us. I don't know how this would work. I remember a Middlesbrough fan, during twitter spats, defending Gibson and making a comment that Morris was the one in the background still controlling proceedings. Didn't he appoint Quantuma? . In a recent article, John Percy, mentioned how Appleby had agreed a deal in January but it was mysteriously called off. Percy stated that it was Steve Morgan who was dealing with Steve Gibson
Other twitter users were cynical about Kirchner, stating that Quantuma panicked & selected him as PB due to pressure from the EFL etc. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but why go with an unknown quantity - who we now realize was using us for his own ends/investment vehicle? - when someone proven at running a club, and the very club itself for sale, was prepared to make an offer. The choice of Kirchner meant that some of Appleby's backers went elsewhere (Riley).
Another twitter user posted a comment along the lines that Morris would simply take us over again. That would alienate the fanbase but would he care? The club would be run on a shoestring (wages, budget) but would still command a large fan-base/Season ticket sales. The matchday revenue would still be quite significant even if it dropped by a large margin. He knows he has a captured audience. He'd make Mike Ashley look like a dream in comparison.
Perhaps Morris thinks he can claw back some of the money he has lost whilst retaining the club & the ground, which may increase in value if we return back to the second tier.
Some observers (Nixon) have pointed out that somebody along the way has to take a hit in order to enable a sale to go through. I feel Morris is not prepared to do this. And his retention of the stadium as separate from the club has proved to be the major sticking block.

With us being under restrictions (EFL business plan etc),  that's the sort of imaginative thinking we need. A former Man United legend helping to guide the son of a former Derby player. One of the few bright spots to emerge from the last two seasons is that young players may get thrown in the deep end, but they also get  plenty of support from the manager/coaching staff.

More like a flaming liability. He's left us right in it, but hopefully now the adults are in the room, we'll get things sorted. It won't be pleasant & another points deduction is likely (creditors).

Yes, but at the time it was done, Rush was 'protecting assets' , but it actually rebounded on the club as you describe, tying us down to expensive contracts & inflating the wage bill in one fell swoop. We're all wiser & definitely sadder after events (hindsight), but  cashing in on one of them & re-investing in the team - you cite Brentford as the best example - is what we should have done. The only  trouble is that I can't remember us receiving many high bids., like for Martin, for instance.

Let’s be right here. Whoever does this deal it’s a stinking deal. Mel has made us practically unsellable. Personal view can’t see any bid that’s not going to trigger further points deductions but could be wrong on that. Earlier on in the process I accepted League 1 and -15 as likely outcome based on what the likes of Krasner were saying. CK gave me hope that could be avoided until he injured himself kicking tyres.
That being said from what I’ve been told (which isn’t much) is that the process is now moving very quickly, the focus is very much on the end game and parties are showing their hand, ie. no more posturing which means we should hopefully be through this saga soon. Might also explain why people are coming in and dropping out. I think we know who the main players are and they haven’t really changed.
