  1. The Southampton figure is also 'only' 80% of the club, the Liebherr family still hold 20%, interestingly the family had a caveat and veto over who Gao Jisheng could sell to, presumably to avoid another Wigan fiasco.

Slight difference, very slight in fact, but my Southampton mate who runs their website and often writes for the Guardian about Saints has said:

The £100m is for Gao Jisheng's 80% (He paid £180m for that, money leveraged from his Chinese companies) the new Serbian owners have also taken on a £90m loan from MSD which was taken out by Gao to cover pandemic costs.

The money is Serbian, but teh driving force is Rasmus Ankersen the former DOF at Brentford.

    So as @CBRammettesays it's essentially £200m for 80% of a club.

Makes Derby cheap at half (the speculated) price(s)

  2. 100%

I do not go anymore, but I watch on RAMSTV and the fans have been nothing short of amazing. What I like is that recently they have focussed on supporting our players as opposed to crap like calling oppo player peados. That must be an amazing environment for the kids to come into.

Reminds me of being away at Palace when we realised we wouldn't get autos under Billy, and for 60 minutes we just chanted "We are Derby, Super Derby" absolute majestic support.

Keep it up and I may even come in from abroad (cough) and get myself amongst you.

I take no pleasure in clubs who haven’t had the luxury of being propped up by parachute payments now struggling to stay away from the financial equality rules which only seem to make football more unequal.

Bristol City are one of those, so as nice as it would be to take Mr Popodopotalkshite’s stance of adopting a weird vendetta against any team in financial trouble, I can’t do it.

I fully agree, who are the ones in trouble thus far? Us, Brum,Reading and Bristol City all 3 without parachute payments for a while, not to mention the already departed Bolton, Wednesday and WIgan.

  4. selection of btl comments from the BBC and Guardian match reprts, weird seeing some non-hatred of us to be fair:

    MIllwall fan:

Respect to all at DCFC (except Mel Morris & cohorts). To have to sell best players, sign no-one, have to cope with 2 sets of points deductions totalling -22 and to lift themselves from Rooney to players to fans to give each game their best shot. Remarkable effort and puts the plastic glory hunter fans who moan their proverbial off when they don’t win every game well and truly in perspective

    Coventry fan:

Anything other than bottom would be a massive achievement for Derby. Dare to dream rams fans......

    Wolves fan:

Well done Derby. Low quality game but important points and I hope Derby pull off the miracle. Albion are dire with a one tactic manager and a team lacking any real quality. I think most neutrals would agree with me when I say I hope Albion don’t come back up as they’re just a waste of time in the top league.

    Leicester Fan:

Great club with a great history. This LCFC fan would have you back in the prem in a heartbeat. Good luck.

Tell you what if Derby had a out &
out goal scorer, they could pull off the impossible. Have not been outclassed in any game this season & are playing for Wayne Rooney, the supporters & the shirt. All Derby supporters I am sure must be really proud of this team for not giving up.

    Stoke

Well Played Derby... From a Stokie

    Bournemouth

An AFCB supporter here. I was pleased for all the Derby fans to see you get the three points. We know what is feels like to have points deducted and us the fans not able to do anything about it other than support our team. Hope you make it and stay in the championship. Good luck

My 1st venture into Wales was very errrr strange, As a very nieve 19 year old who had just been married 6 months earlier myself the Wife and new born went to Rhyl for a day out this was in the summer of 76 yes that very very hot Summer, We arrived parked up and went to the beach, Mooched around  a bit then went for a meal, Walked into an empty restaraunt and walked upto the counter and asked where we could sit...sorry mate was the reply all tables are booked, There's a chip shop just down the road, Turned round and found the said chipshop.

Wife and Child waited outside and I queued, Slowly but sure after a 20 minute wait I was next, I asked for 2 mixes and 2 fish, Bloke said what are you talking about, Again I asked for 2 mixes and 2 fish...sorry he said all out of fish and were waiting for the chips to cook, Try down the road.

I got outside and told the Wife looks as if dinner is off the menu, I then get a tap on the shoulder, It was a man who was in the queue, You're English right, Yes, You'll not be welcome in Wales.

I was so confused... a couple of months had gone by and I told this story to a fellow worker, He put me right, That's when I got the bug for English History, Had a similar experience in France in the early 80s when travelling by coach to Spain, We're not liked are we?

My second venture into Wales, first was for the abandoned Newport game when I was about 10, was when we did  and Pen Y Fan and was at Sennybridge in the Army, no problems there and we had a great night out bowling in Cardiff midway through. Although stopping off to buy Vaseline for my chafed arse didn't go down to well one day, I got some funny looks.

After that I've spent ages in Snowdonia, mainly Betws  as I love the Marin trail and climbing, and to be fair a few times pubs have chucked a mixed group out or sent us to the beer gardens. Shame as I'm a friend and ally of all home nations and my best mate, now deceased, was a very proud Welshman. I still want them to win every game.

You've lost me. Do you mean in terms of any further cash we might earn from the transfer?

Nowadays it's a flat fee for appearances (on top of the development fee, will be round about £400,000), if he makes 10 apps for Man City then we get an additional £150,000, further payments up to 100 apps, which if he made it we would get circa £7m in total for him. I'd argue that £7m for someone good enough to make 100 Prem appearances is chicken feed.

However the PL essentially said when they pushed for EPPP that if the EFL clubs didn't vote for it then they'd stop or greatly reduce solidarity payments. Not a fan of the system at all as like mots things it rewards those at the top. That said as a youngster you have to look after yourself really, so I don't blame the kids more the system.
