Christ that’s a thin squad. Where’s Dajaune Brown?
Bardell, Brown, Radcliffe and Bradley J are all pictured in new kit in the U21's profile unlike the other U21's, so I am speculating but maybe they will be in or around the first team squads this season.

Wonder who they were?
I'd guess at May and Sam Smith, solely my guess mind.

Pretty sure Kavanagh became a mortgage broker. I used to see him going into an office at the top of Sadlergate.
Yeah Kav did, he also played for Burton/Mickleover and the likes, got to know him and he's a decent bloke.
You also mention Stallard, used to play an age up for Littleover Dazzlers and he was the striker in the season before he joined Derby on YTS and was a machine, shame it didn't work out for him. He was a decent wicketkeeper as well.
Some very talented kids around that age from Derby, Mark Wood (Mansfield) Ian Mcara / Brian Johnson / Nick Franklin / Corin Holness / Steve Powell Jr. (Derby) Andy Simpson (Sheff United, although also wanted by Derby, Man Utd and Arsenal) / Roger Sallis (Man Utd.) none of whom did anything in the pro game. A few did good numbers in non-league though
We also had a brilliant young keeper called Jon Thompson (not the current one) who played for England Schoolbys and was really really good, only problem was he didn't grow so joined the Navy instead.
I will never tire of saying that to become a pro, as on the whole it is a meritocracy, you have to be very exceptional

Good old EFL let reading out of the Embargo sign 4/5 decent players only to be put back in an embargo 2 weeks later..
I'm old enough to remember when they wouldn't let us extend Jags contract till the end of the season, nor give the kids pro deals.
It's just double standards.

Oooh quelle surprise, Reading not paid up, instant embargo.
Fortunately the EFL gave them a couple of weeks to get players in after lifting last embargo.

Reading have been placed under an immediate transfer embargo for failing to pay HMRC on time again, the Reading Chronicle understands.

Back in the olden days Brian Laws used to bring his Scunthorpe team to our base for training.
Was brilliant, the players used to mix with us in the NAFFI.
That said I've done pre-season at Wolves and Chesterfield, it's a bit different these days 😀

Like the look of that more than the yellow one.
-
Was expecting better to be honest, also boring GK shirt wanted one of the crazy Umbro designs

Oh my word, if he gets embroiled in the Freeport stuff.

Assuming they can still sign players in line with current business plan.
Do agree though, seems that everything was chucked at us at once with no leeway allowed, Reading, it seems, have been allowed to choose when points are deducted, break BP twice and still sign players when we had to let all our talented kids go.

Better news for them then, they need some luck.

No chance. Did you see it? He was absolutely magnificent. As a debut and one off best individual performance it is up there.
Clayton ince is still the best individual performance I have seen at pride Park from an opposition player. If it was a keeper doing that on the big stage he would have gone for millions. He single handedly kept us from scoring 5 or 6 with some unbelievable keeping.
0-0 for Crewe at the BBG?
I went to that with my mate, me being a goalkeeper and loving all things goalkeeping I confidently told my mate that he would throw at least one in as he was useless.
He then goes on to play like a Yashin/Shilton/Jennings/Banks/Southall hybrid uber-keeper.
Still think Paul Reece for Oxford against us was better tho.

Following the failure to ensure that an amount equal to 125% of the Club’s forecast monthly wage bill was deposited in a designated Club account by Wednesday 24 May, as per the order of an Independent Disciplinary Commission, Wigan Athletic Football Club has been deducted a further four points and will now start the 2023/24 season on minus eight points (-8).
This follows a previous sanction of four points after failing to pay its players’ wages on time in March 2023 and May 2023.
The EFL has spent the past 48 hours in dialogue with the Club in an attempt to find a positive outcome to the issue but as of 9am Friday morning the required funds have not been deposited.
The decision by the Independent Disciplinary Commission can be viewed here.

Found this interesting, obviously you can debate he methodology and the results are not set in stone, but we do not rank as highly as I would have expected finishing 39th, with only Burnley and Stoke the other Cat 1 clubs below us.

I don't think it's that game. I think it was the one where Mark Wright scored in a 1:0 win. 88/89 season?
The one people talk of was the video, I was at the other game and Shilts' wasn't as impressive.
People oft forget Shiltons games though, end of the season we finished 5th Shilton came 5th in the ballon d'or , and this when English clubs did not play in Europe

Yes mate , Shilts at Newcastle , i think 1987 , absolutely outstanding in that game
Aye, Cox ran on the pitch and demanded Shilts' shirt as a souvenir.
When looing back mind, it wasn't that great (and I say that as a Shilton worshipper)

I've watched Jack Thompson in our academy since he was in the under-9s. He was in awe of True Grant who was just a year older than Jack and when True moved to Man City, Jack said he aspired to be like him. Jack's 16 now and was in goal today for the U18s. I think Derby see Jack as being in the U21 side next season if we can hang on to him. I bumped into Jack today coming out of the Portsmouth game and he was well chuffed about the City result, urging me to get down to the U18 game against Middlesbrough on Friday at Pride Park. I just hope we can hold on to him because there's a lot of interest from elsewhere.

Not surprised, the lads a top prospect.
I want him promoted as high as possible, Eric Steele told me to behave when I suggested he should be our Number 2!
PIckford and Richard Wright have done that and been 1st choice at 17 due to injuries, so maybe.

See True Grant (Lee Grants lad) is in nets for them, was at Derby previously.

Well that's better!

They'd best get it sorted as Wiki tells me that this is their Squad, the last 4 players have yet to be registered with the EFL according to Robbie Savage yesterday.
Both Wolves and West Brom, Chinese owned, have also spent next to nothing this summer (although Wolves spent large last season)
