I’m not all that bothered what is said in these meetings. I just want to get in my seat and watch us win.
The worst thing is I’m on bloody holiday on Saturday and will miss Huddersfield and Peterborough. What a disaster. ?

Hindsight is beautiful to say that's what we should have done those years, to stop the current situation.
But at the time of playoff pushes if we had a squad of 13 or 14 'experienced' players and the rest made up of Jamie Hanson's, Farrend Rawson's and Callum Guy's, the Manager and Mel would have been on the end of similar abuse to now.
Again, you can't just chuck them in because they are young and cheap wages. The good ones all got minutes.
Will Hughes played 165 games for us by the time he was 22 cause he was good enough.
Jeff Hendrick played 196 games for us by 23/24 because he was good enough.

Fair play, they are professional footballers and they are doing much better at the game than I could ever dream of!

So many of you on here need to go and reread what you have been posting in the other topics then have a think before posting again at how stupid it all sounds

I’m just trying understand your logic. You say only those attending on Saturday can be classed as true fans. Yet, you can’t go…
I can’t make any of the 3 games in August, due to family commitments. I must be way down the list of fans, probably somewhere between half and fair weather fan. Despite having a season ticket the past 10 years and still waiting for this years. And don’t even mention my dad with his Parkinson’s who can’t get to every game nowadays…
All I’m suggesting is that people think before making these grand statements about others.

If we can get these signings done then I take it as a massive positive because these 8 lads have turned down other offers in some instances because they want to come here and be a part of it. That’s a great start.

This weekend the eyes of the football world will be on the Rams. Absolutely no point in turning up to protest - that would just be a huge shot in the foot. The situation is what it is. Let's turn up, cheer and support WR and the players. 3 points from a win will give the players a huge boost; siege mentality, fans behind them, nothing to lose. We're in this together. If you can keep your head when all about are losing theirs and blaming it on you...

We should have worked on a rough prinicple of two senior players for every positon with the third player being filled by someone from the academy.
We should have decided on a style of play and arguably a primary formation and stuck to it. So that recruitment and academy development could be strongly aligned to it.
We should have only ever considered managers who bought into the above and only recruited players who fit into the above mould and either replaced an outgoing or were a significant improvement on the current playing staff.
When handing out contracts for players we should have strongly had in mind where talent lay in the academy and whether it was coming up in this position.
But all of that would have required genuine vision to pull off and the conviction to follow through on it right from the off whereas MM shot himself in the foot on day one of this project with the 15/16 transfer window.

It was all geared up for Mel when he took over. We’d lost the playoff final in 13/14 playing some of the best football the championship had seen in the decade. We were outstanding for the majority of 14/15, promotion looked like ours for the taking, but we were desperately unlucky with injuries and because we didn’t have the depth of squad we suffered and missed the playoffs - despite getting 78 points which would have seen us comfortably in the playoffs in every season since. Mel’s investment at this point if done correctly would have got us over the line.

Mel made his biggest mistakes early on, the kamikaze recruitment of 15/16 cost us millions and we’ve never really recovered. This combined with the Clement appointment. We didn’t need wholesale change yet we wasted money on Shackell Butterfield Johnson Blackman Camara, followed up by the Anya signing. No thought was given to the resale values of these players. We didn’t learn lessons for the Lampard spending spree either, some of it signings that didn’t come off eg Marriott but did he ever fit our system? Waghorn Malone Jozefzoon all just rank bad business. All this combined we’ve lost between £30-£40m on transfers which finds its way into P&S calculations. Additionally the wages during this period went out of control.

That’s why we’re where we are. We’ve missed an opportunity under Mel’s stewardship and now we’re scrapping to stay in the league, but if he hands over the club to a responsible owner who can sensibly invest alongside the academy talent which has never been so good in my lifetime, we can rise again and Mel might be able to say I did an OK job. That’s about the best he can hope for now.
