I really don't know how you can still be in the dark about the precipitous decline of wildlife all over the world.
It's simple, we take most of the available land for farms to feed ourselves....and leave nowhere for wild animals to live.

Are you still not getting it?
Tut-tutting at some spilt milk, feeling sorry for the person who has to clean it up, being irritated by nauseating righteousness...
    These are our problems?
Global warming, crops failing, mass extinctions, ecological collapse, extreme weather events, mass displacement of populations
When those are our problems (and it won't be long) - we'll long for the days when the fat old men on the football forum only had to worry about some students with blue hair

They have no interest in "winning people over to their argument". They just want draw attention to the fact that humanity is sleepwalking into extinction.
Who should need to be "won over" to that argument anyway? Assuming that no one actually wants to actively see the end of the human race
If they don't engage in these outrageous tactics then human nature is to pretend that it will all be ok.
Climate change, mass extinction, ecological collapse, economic collapse, pandemics, floods, fires - nothing to see here. I'm too busy being angry about a student with blue hair who has forced me to think about it

I'm sure it has been pointed out that its not that China is churning out thousands of tons of cheap crap for nothing - they do it to provide cheap consumer goods that we buy. If we stopped buying it, there'd be no market for producing it in the first place. We're equally culpable.

Likewise - which is the bigger crime?
Throwing some soup at a pane of glass in an art gallery, or the fact that the government is planning to renege on climate action promises on fossil fuels and want to grant 40 new licenses to open new oil fields? Which one will have an impact on your life and your kid's lives?
Ooh she's got blue hair, ooh I bet she uses plastics, ooh bloody students, get a job etc

Something troubles me about all of this though
And I'm not lover of the Tories, as you know
Whether I agreed with their mini-budget or not, you can't argue that it wasn't a bold move, aimed at trying to do things differently
And the financial markets moved to crush it
Same with Corbyn - he wanted to do things differently and the media did a hatchet job on him, to ensure he got nowhere near power
I suppose it boils down to  this - who is actually in charge? Because it sure isn't the politicians. The illusion of democracy is powerful!

"I don't like them, ban them".
I have fond memories of family bonfire parties from my childhood, my children's childhood and now my grandchildren's childhood. It's a tradition I look forward to every year.
We are considerate though and inform our close neighbours of our intentions and start and end the fireworks at a reasonable time.
Whilst I'm against banning what for many is a family tradition spanning many generations I would welcome some regulations e.g. limiting home fireworks to certain times of night, limiting their use to one week of the year.

    Hi guys
My nephew, Jake passed away on August 12th aged 23. Despite being dealt a bad hand he enjoyed life to the full possessing a sharp, dry wit and a fondness for dressing well - the other thing we had in common ? was our love for Derby County!
Many of you will recognise Jake, a life-long season ticket holder in the West Stand attending matches with his Dad.
His family are orchestrating a minutes applause at the 23rd minute during the Port Vale home match on Saturday October 8th.
Extended family will be in attendance and there will be a brief write up about Jake in the match day programme.
These tributes are becoming more common, but I think that because they are often not official and fan-led they are even more poignant - and it would be a great gesture for one of our own.
Assistance in spreading the word from members of this forum would be so very much appreciated.

I would agree with that, but Neville has some interesting things to say on the matter. He does genuinely seem to be involved (partly) to raise awareness and start conversations about what is going on, not try and gloss over the problems like Beckham seems to be doing.

I think wealth will always garner jealousy.
As you say, there’s nothing wrong with someone with money supporting Labour.
Taking money from sources suspected of bad practice is very topical with the LIV golf malarkey.
I know that government’s deal with each other despite criticising their rule and everyone’s conscience is different.
I just think that for those wealthy enough to be able to make a stance, it’s disappointing when they don’t.

I mean allies willing to step in and defend the country, push Russia back and secure the region.
They have cheerleaders and a few of those would sooner this all blow over so they can get that Russian energy.
And they have a Russia's enemies sending them what they need to fight Russia. But they're doing all the fighting and dying. For all the "Stand with Ukraine" it's more like "we back Ukraine"
I think Zelensky said as much but he understands the reasons nobody can help. They're not in our alliance.
In the coming months we'll all be concerned about the cost of living and internal politics and Ukraine will be a headache that we throw money at so they can weaken Russia. Some nations will distance themselves from the whole affair as they try to loophole through sanctions and send brown envelopes to Moscow.

No. I think it's utterly vacuous. I appreciate the anger about the working conditions in Qatar, but if you genuinely feel that strongly and want to make a statement, don't go. Don't broadcast it. Don't watch it. I won't be watching a second, but I have 0 respect for footballers and football associations thinking they're making any kind of relevant statement with their toned down shirts and rainbow armbands.

Spare a thought for those of us who live in rural Derbyshire and have no gas. We have oil central heating and it is costing nearly £1000 per tank. We usually have 3 deliveries a year. So that's £3000 already and we have the electricity bill on top. No cap on oil prices
