No idea, but he’s certainly taken the heat off the Falcons’ front office!
Guess that’s the dream of just out scoring everybody gone then...

£125m for being the worst team in the league.
    Just let that sink in.
One hundred and twenty five million pounds for being crap.
That’s 3 clubs coming down with a total of £381m, but that’s not all, the Premier League will also give them parachute payments to soften the blow.
Sorry to start another topic on this, but it’s a topic that needs to be repeated, football is broken. It’s broken and they are doing nothing about it. Why?
We have to try and compete with those 3 next year, with barely any revenue we have to compete against clubs with over £100m in their back pockets.
    What hope do we have?
Yes I know money doesn’t always = success, Brentford beat Bournemouth, made it to Wembley but how many years have they been trying to get there?
Whoever goes up it’s a major achievement, getting past the parachute payment clubs, it’s huge, one season up there and they have banked over £100m, it’s madness.
We can never have a completely level playing field, I understand that, but the PL and EFL could come together and distribute that money out more fairly.
    Why are they not?
Why are these questions not being asked?
Do we need to see more clubs liquidated, more clubs going bankrupt trying to compete from the Championship to League 2, all the national media journalists will be all over that, justice for Bury, why not call it out now?
Heads are so far up the Premier League’s backside the Football League barely gets a mention.
I’m ranting I know, but £125m for being crap.
Who signs off on that and thinks it’s good for football?
    It’s broken, football is broken.

Claude Davis was outstanding in the championship for Preston - for us in the prem he was a car crash.  Mikkel Beck had a couple of years playing for Middlesbrough, again at a higher level than we’re performing at, and was a key part of their promotion into the prem...
I can’t believe I’m defending this pair - they were both rubbish.

Albania are a fairly decent side, with some players who regularly grace sides in the top divisions of Italy, Turkey and some other lesser countries.  Admittedly, they lost Loric Cana to retirement which was a blow for them, but they’re far from also-rans.
They would cope with the championship with no bother...

The teams with parachute payments will get first dibs on any good players available to loan, after all many cost a fee for the season plus good wages. We must unload Lawrence now to fund the purchase of a lower league striker that could get us some goals. I am worried about the attitude of Tom when he can start talking to other teams in January. Could be another £5 mill lost if he walks on a free.

I think it’s relatively straightforward to decide a playing strategy and then just bring in players that fit each position to a tee.
Players that look average at one club are more than capable if played to their strengths.
If you can get the right players in rather than scattershot signings of “he’s good, get him” style we’ve become accustomed to, you’re over halfway there.
As long as there’s no conflicting personalities, that puts you in with a chance of a decent shot.
It’s just easier said than done.

I think anyone that invests the money that Mel and Lionel did, with good intent, doesn't deserve to be tarred and feathered for it because they do more than any contributor to this forum would do in the same situation - I can all but guarantee that. But both needed protecting from themselves, and both had a tendency to let their boyhood dreams run away with them. Shame really, as both will ultimately end up leaving the club in a pretty shabby state - irrespective of how much they wished it not to end like this.

My mate was involved with them and went to quite a lot of their meetings, and I originally joined as a member, however the general gist I always got from the officials was “this is our little ramstrust club and you can do things the way we want to or we’re not interested in your input”.
There’s many ways to skin a cat, so to speak, and whilst I do believe they want what is best for DCFC, their approach as self appointed spokesperson for all fans is what rubs people up the wrong way.

This is interesting - and typical of Ramstrust - bombastic and self important.
They have always struck me as very cliquey and it’s something that is worth bearing in mind when we start talking about fan ownership - as we have so many fragmented groups, who is our actual representation?
I would bet that the ramstrust lot would see themselves as the elected representation, whilst many might see them as a bunch of old meddlers.
(In response to a previous question, they were initiated from the 3 amigos era, but were highly divisive amongst fans - many who resented their somewhat pompous tone.)
We might have a united submission, but if it comes to crunch of being invited to discuss the views of all fan representation, we’re some way away - as we’ve seen through responses to this topic already.

1: Fair enough, didn't hear it so can't comment.
2: I don't think anyone is suggesting the club's business should be done in public, as I've just said on another thread. To your point four, we're just paying customers. But we do have a right to ask the questions, just as we would ask Nike if they use Thai sweatshops to make their products or Pret to see if they use line caught tuna in their baguettes. As for takeover news, I'm really very happy the way the Alonso discussions went, if 11 Points or anyone else did 1% of preventing that clown being near our club then thank you all for that.
3: As stated elsewhere, I don't agree on their using this situation to restate a claim to be at board meetings. We agree.
4: Yes, I am a customer of Derby County. They made me that years ago when they asked me to buy three shirts a season, introduced dynamic pricing, charged me >£40 to watch a single match. Yup, that is what my club is now - a product that I choose to enjoy when it suits me. But it is one I think we are able to ask questions of, for exactly that reason. The days of blind faith and following your club till you die are gone, the bonds are broken from both sides, so you are able to challenge it as a customer, like you say, and that is all that has been done. If the club don't want to answer the questions / can't answer the questions then 'no comment' will have to suffice and move on.
