Alluded to him not being match fit, something about him not training well on Thursday.
Said they wouldn't play an outfield player who wasnt 100% and the same goes for goalkeepers.
Said the coaching team collectively agreed Vickers deserved his chance.
Hopefully Ive not taken anything out of context or misquoted but that was what I took from the interview but only heard it once.

Exactly right. Just look at the Portsmouth result a couple hours later, another team fighting for promotion away to a side in the bottom 4, except they lost. These games can look easier on paper, but these are exactly the games we have slipped up in in previous promotion battles over the years.
I don't think we played that well, but in a weird way, I don't think we "tried" to. We have a busy schedule, players will get tired. I think Warne is looking to get us to do enough to win, but not exert too much energy needlessly. I think that showed after they got their goal, because we got control of the game straight away and opened up another 2-goal advantage, after being pretty poor and being under pressure from them for 15-20 minutes before that.
It's risky, because the tide could have turned and Fleetwood could've gone on to get a point, but I think if they didn't get that goal, we wouldn't have gone out to grab the third because it wasn't necessary.
It might not be the prettiest, but it's effective and getting results and that's the most important thing right now.

I think there are 2 or 3 posters who are just wind-up merchants and I tend to disregard most of their comments. They seem to get off on criticising individuals at the Club, in particular Bradley and Warne, not so often Collins nowadays who each week is now managing to keep them quiet.
I'm no fan of playing 5 at the back but without Nyambe today, Warne's hands were somewhat tied and putting either Ward or Wilson at RB could have seriously weakened our defence if put under pressure by Fleetwood. For the one goal we did concede, Bradley must shoulder some of the responsibility for not being tighter on the scorer but Cashin was in no-mans land 4 or 5 metres in front of Stockley and with no-one to mark. I'm a huge fan of Cashin and thrilled we've activated the one year extension to his contract but he has to shoulder some of the blame but hey, much easier to make Bradley the sole player responsible.

Must admit was quietly a bit nervous about this game, not because of the starting line up, but because this is the type of team and situation ( bottom of the league, new manager) that we have come unstuck against previously, so having won this one feels like a bit of a statement. Thought Wilson had a brilliant first half especially, Collins worked so hard as usual, and Bird also good after getting, in my opinion, some undeserved stick on here. Onwards we go!

Just got back, another 3 points although an ugly one, can’t imagine the second half was easy for us with the sun in there eyes.
Go most away games but couldn’t believe today some of the stuff I was hearing, Bradley lumped it up which lead to our first goal as soon as he did it guy behind shouting “you’re f****** sh*t Bradley… 10 seconds later we score.
Early second half couple behind aswell shouting “run Collins you sh*t fat B*stard” he’s literally just scored his 16 of the season and doesn’t stop running?? Absolute pathetic idiots at times!
Really do hope we strengthen this window and learn from last January though, think we’re a winger a big tough CDM and a AM that scores away from being a really really good side
anyway on a more positive note the Cheltenham result gives us even more joy with our tough 3 points, up the rams

Just got back from Fleetwood (we took our time, walked into town for some fish and chips and a chat with numerous Derby fans before setting off.) I am a bit surprised at some of the faint praise from people on here for a good away win and the avoidance of a slip up against an energetic team fighting for a new manager.
I seem to remember we "battered" the Cod Army 0-0 here last season, playing expansive but ultimately unproductive football.
I much prefer us playing like we did today and bringing home three points.

A really solid win in what was an attritional game. It’s the kind of game where you have to dig in and find a way to win and we did.
Fleetwood worked hard and battled away. On another day, they may have scored two or three. The change of shape and personnel left us looking less and less assured and riding our luck somewhat.
The difference between the two teams for me was that in a game of limited chances and quality, we were clinical.
Bird and Hourihane never controlled the game but popped up with flashes of quality to decide the game. Mendez Laing and Wilson always posed a threat as expected being our most dangerous players.
But for me, the biggest applause goes to Collins. He doesn’t have the technique of a McGoldrick, but he puts his body on the line for the cause, sets the tone for the rest of the team, and you can see his confidence is soaring at the moment and his instincts in the box are really shining through.
Really professional win. Another v Bradford, please.

Nothing really concrete yet, heard that Smith might be on his way out on loan for the rest of the season which might explain the Savage/ Coventry links. No plans for anyone else to leave, Bird and Cashin, barring bids too big to turn down, both staying. Have been told there is a bit of money to splash

Boxing Day table last year at the top of the pic, Boxing Day table today at the bottom. More wins, more points, more goals. Still a long way to go but we’re doing comparatively better results wise than we were at the same time last season. Could do with more consistent performances like today’s and seemingly we’re not missing McGoldrick’s goals with more goals scored and being shared amongst the squad. Be interesting to see if we can keep it going, and strengthen (or at least avoid being weakened) in January.

    What a result. What a f****** result.
The performance, the comeback, the nature of the win. We shot ourselves in the foot early on, 2-0 down away to a top 6 side within 15 mins and could've succumbed to a nothing performance. We did the exact opposite.
Our form is excellent but this is the biggest "sign" for me. We can win in different ways, put in different types of performances and still get results. It's the sign of a promotion team.
I'm probably getting carried away, but you don't see this kind of thing from Derby very often. I hope we follow it up with a win vs Posh, then we really are onto something.
But for now, I'll enjoy tonight. Luckily I'm a moderator and can go and clear any trace of my Warne comments after the Stevenage game, because I was very wrong. He deserves so much credit, he's got us doing things I never thought he'd be capable of. Hats off to you gaffer.

So are you saying David Clowes didn’t do due diligence on Paul Warne !
I think that’s unfair on David Clowes if true. .
Not having a go at you mate as you are pretty consistent with your views in this. .
I seem to remember I was on here saying I wanted Rosenior to stay and got hammered for it as the majority view on the forum was pro Warne appointment including his big detractors now.
I always try to get behind the manager and players at Derby County and I think our Chairman who saved DCFC and Paul  Warne and the players deserve some slack.
If we win the next load of games and shoot up the League and get promoted will the Paul Warne detractors change their views .
I also don’t get this vitriol against Paul Warnes style of management and against his interview techniques.
He is who he is and I don’t mind him at all .

If Brighton thought Cashin was first-team material he'd have gone the same route as many, like Kaoru Mitoma, Deniz Undav and Kacper Kozlowski to Union Saint-Gilloise (their sister club in Belgium), or Moisés Caicedo did at Beerschot. Steven Alzate went to Standard Liege. Kjell Scherpen went to the Austrian Bundesliga. They have so many players being developed and it is tremendously successful. Matt Clarke was one of a few they never bothered with. It was the same with Haydon Roberts and Aaron Connolly.
When the rumour went around that Yves Bissouma was going to be sold after his night club incident – he was the best midfielder in the league at that time – I was told they were not worried if he went, because they knew they had a much better player in Caidedo performing wonders in the Belgium league. It was similar with manager Potter, they were happy he left them, and they had a replacement already scouted and were delighted he joined Chelsea.
Brighton are massively in debt, they owe their owner nearly three quarters of a billion, but he is not worried, he is a professional gambler and his wealth increases each year. All I was told when I asked why the deal did not happen is that a fee was never agreed. The fault, it may be at their end, or at our end. I doubt it would be Cashin's demands.

Tomorrows either going to be super busy because Brighton have made a bid too good to turn down or pretty quiet with 1 potentially 2 coming in

I don’t know why I keep seeing people say on twitter etc. that’s he’s to old to spend money on and that he’s near 30 ffs he turned 29 last month, for example if we signed him on a 4 year contract he’d start his fourth season (26/27 season) younger than Waghorn is now, and he’s not doin half bad.

I’m reading comments on here about how we should spend £2 million on players.
Regardless of whether we sell Cashin, given that we clearly have a financially prudent owner and are only in the second year out of administration, with all of the financial limitations that this comes with, anybody thinking we’re going to drop a couple of million on a player has lost touch with reality.
If this applies to you, please wash your face in the sink, take a hard look in the mirror and come to terms with the waters that we are swimming in this year.

Watching the highlights back was a lovely way to start the day. A couple of the same worries to start with as we seemed to do our best to create opportunities for them with poor ball retention and hasty attempts to clear. Then Posh’s first owes as much to their strengths as it did to our deficiencies, Clarke-Harris does what good strikers at this (or any) level do, he bullies Cashin (think he’s picked Cashin to play off rather than Nelson) and shows good hold up play as well as the movement to get on the end of a dangerous cross into that “corridor of uncertainty” from the 10.
All of our goals have good moments of play to enjoy. The first comes from good build up down the left starting with Cashin playing it out to Fozzy and Thommo to work the opportunity for the cross, and even with the slight deflection I think the reverse angle showed it would have been heading into that bit of space Waggy had found, he did well to adjust and sweep it home.
The second was a great header by Cashin on the back of a set piece earned by good counter attacking involving Waggy and Hourihane. Good assist from NML.
The third comes from sustained pressure, another set piece leads to NML’s, erm….optimistic shot, with Waggy showing great anticipation to nick a yard and toe it home. Flukey assist from NML 😂
The fourth starts with Rooney winning the ball back from Mason-Clark, coming out on top of that particular moment in their head to head battle. NML does well to dig out a cross and it’s good CF play by Washington to touch it back to Hourihane who’s pass to Waghorn was perfectly weighted for him to strike sweetly into the top corner.
They had chances, but as one of the more fancied sides in the league, playing at home you’d expect them to. I know it’s early in the season and we shouldn’t get carried away much the same as we shouldn’t get too down after bad performances, what I’ll say is yesterday was a very good away win against a strong side for the division. It’s something to build on, 2 wins on the spin, 2 away wins for the season with 7 goals scored, some strong individual performances, and another week to build on the training ground. Over to Warne and co to build more momentum, hoping the additions to the squad help in that regard. 🐏

Good opening 2 minutes then Posh got in the ascendancy. We gave them too much time and too much space. They won all the 2nd balls. No great surprise that they scored. That seemed to wake us up. We got closer, we moved, we pressed, we got the 2nd balls. We showed that we can play, that we have fight, that the squad is starting to gel. 4 first half goals including a Waggy hattrick, goals 2 to 4 coming in a wonderful 8 minute spell. Roons given a torrid time at the start but grew into it. Tommo again brilliant. Wildsmith was as busy as their keeper. There will be ups and downs along the way and it's a long hard season. Too soon to see patterns other than there are no certainties. Going into round 4 matches last week, Bolton and the Posh were the top 2. Posh have now lost 2 on the bounce and Bolton lost 0-4 at home to Wigan and only managed a draw at Burton. Fans need to get behind the team. Stop the myriad of "wrist slashing" type posts we saw when Posh scored. By HT they'd almost all been deleted. They should never have been written. Little wonder 442 labelled us as the biggest online moaners. We're supporters. Let's support. Let's be measured in our responses. Let us stop the knee jerk reactions when we concede with more than an hour still to play. No more moaning when the opposition has a good spell. They're not just going to lie down and let us walk over them. I suppose it's all indicative of the instant society in which we live. In reality, things are never a 1 or a 10 but somewhere in between.
A word about the ref. He let a lot go, from both sides. He seemed to have decided to let the game flow rather than stop it at every opportunity. That had the pleasant side effect of there being less chance for players to delay restarts. Could well have booked Rooney but let play go on and it was a good 2 minutes before play stopped and he didn't "go back" and give the card he probably should have given.

But this can’t happen. Our stats against top 6 teams are horrendous. We’re just flat track bullies.
This is why you cant judge after 3 games into the season and before the transfer window is closed. Posh sounded like they may have had one of those games they’re capable of at home but we capitalised, we were ruthless, the goals were top quality - a finishing master class from Waggy.

So many positives, Rooney learning fast and having a decent game overall after a tough start (still think he’ll end up defensive mid), Thompson now showing box to box quality alongside his obvious skill and energy, he’s got the bit between his teeth and has a great future, hopefully with this club. With the new lads on the bench we have options now.
As for Waggy, absolutely no reason why he can’t replicate what Didzy did last season. He’s always been a decent player, the issue was last time we overpaid for him, we’re also playing at a lower level.
This league is absolutely wide open and there is no reason at all why don’t have a real shot at promotion.
