Fla Ram reacted to Carl Sagan in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
I've not watched the interview because the love-in is all a bit overkill. Let's have our football do the talking and keep expectations managed for now. But I actually don't mind what you say about Warne being a bit of a bully on the touchline and players being on the edge of legitimacy. Too often we are bullied as a team and not streetwise enough, hence we seem to have so many decisions go against us. I get many people won't like it, but as well as playing good football I'd like us to toughen up a bit. I do think this is partly what's needed to win promotion over a long season. Anything to gain an advantage as this will be a long hard slog.

Let's be honest, none of us know how Warne will use the squad he has available so to continually post that it's going to be akin to the football served up by Rowett is complete guesswork. If he's as good a coach as some have suggested then he is likely to be able to adapt to a system that gets the best out of the players available.
I was disappointed LR wasn't given more time but once the decision was made to appoint Warne I've quite warned to the change.

Conor is a good player and so is Max. Early days, formations will change. New players still settling in to a new club and new surroundings on and off the pitch, in a new division.
A great deal of new things, with a number of new people at the club, with many changes to their lives and the changes at the club, that require some time to gel. Plenty of big clubs in this division that have struggled behind the scenes, like ourselves, and have had to re-build steadily.
We will be alright, plenty of good passages of play in performances, so far to suggest that we can create, score, and win games.
And our support remains to back our club, back our players, management, staff and owner and support it anywhere, in any kind of weather, with pride, passion in all our lifes, with love and unity.

    Tuesday 13 September:
Jack Stretton came off the bench in the 89th minute of Carlisle's 0-0 away draw at Mansfield Town, replacing Kristian Dennis.
    Wednesday 14 September:
Krystian Bielik started in midfield in Birmingham's 2-3 win at WBA, but was taken off at HT after what was described as "a slight knock to the head". At that point in the game it was 1-1.

I take your point mate but I honestly don't think we really have played good stuff.
First half at Charlton was good, ended up losing cos the second half was abysmal.
First half against Barnsley was good.
Last 20 against Oxford were OK.
    Shrewsbury and Fleetwood very similar.
Peterborough we got out of jail against 10 men.
    Tonight was pitiful.
I've never been sold on Rosenior, going back to the time him and Rooney were joint until Rooney took it full time. He talks a good game and it's like he's been media trained to within an inch of his life. He says things that he believes we want to hear, but the never ever backs up what he says.
Praises Oduroh and Rooney in the cup games they've played, says he's not afraid to throw players in, says nobody, not even players like Hourihane are guaranteed a start.
Not one single person would have moaned tonight if he'd have started Oduroh and moved Knight into midfield, infact, I'd argue most would have been very happy with it. I doubt many would have moaned if Rooney had come in for Bird.
I came out of Plymouth hoping that it was a blessing in disguise and that it had shown us up and maybe we needed that kick up the backside.
Rosenior has mentioned how good it's been having all this time on the training ground to work and then they go out and put out a performance like that?
I genuinely wanted things to work for him, because he seems like a really nice bloke. I've kept quiet with my reservations about him because I wanted to see him do well. But there is nothing here to suggest to me we'll be anywhere near the top 6.
Only one team have scored less goals than us and to get 2 points and score 0 goals from Charlton, Shrewsbury, Fleetwood and Lincoln away is unforgivable.
If anything the performances have been getting worse.
Teams have found out exactly how to stop us and Rosenior hasn't got the first clue how to change it.
Let's not forget that Rosenior was a massive part on the coaching field (By Rooney's admission he left Rosenior to the coaching) in which we won 3 out of 23 away games.
    Well now it's 3 out of 27.
    Not good enough.
Clearly Clowes isn't sold on him either. Otherwise he would be in charge by now.

The tactic every week seems to be. Start Mcgoldrick and Barkhuizen.
Then bring on Sibley and Dobbin.
    That's it.
The right back situation is bizarre. Needs to bite the bullet and chuck Oduroh in. Because if he can't see Knight is needed in midfield then there's no helping him.

Only Roberts came out with any sort of credit. The rest were pretty awful in varying degrees. No need to panic just yet but the signs are not encouraging. Just like to see a goal away, forgotten what it feels like.

LR's "philosophy" isn't really working . I'm not advocating a sacking...but we need LR to try a different approach; learn quickly, and adapt. We have sufficient quality to re-form. We need a better engine and that engine starts with Knight in midfield. It's starting to look like stubbornness now.

Thank god it’s still only interim.
His reluctance to move away from what clearly isn’t and hasn’t worked all season will be his undoing.
Talks a good game and looks the part on the touchline but he’s shown nothing to convince me he’s the guy for this job.
A few home wins have papered over the cracks massively. Give this squad to a manager with a a bit of know and we’d be flying.

It is not a transitional season. We can’t be happy for to bum around in league one whilst Liam ‘learns his trade’. The aim is to get promoted straight away.
Chester is too old to play right back and Smith would be the same as Knight, a centre midfielder playing in the wrong position.
The issue now is we play Oduroh and risk mistakes or we try to convert someone into a right back. Either way it is a risk.

Curtis is fit again and I expect he will start.
Hourihane also starts as he's the player in the prematch videos.
Is Rosenior going to balance the energy and know-how better than he did for the Plymouth defeat, and start more youngsters with some senior players on the bench? I'm doubtful, but live in hope.

It’s a massive mistake. The whole of the footballing community has effectively been ‘silenced’, prevented from showing their respect. What a spectacle we could have put on. Once the opportunity has passed it is too late. The moment will have gone.

Sibley took a few kicks on Tuesday. So maybe protecting him a bit and it’s a long season ahead. No doubt he will come in when the time is right

The window clearly didn't end the way we wanted. The talk of Premier League loans and waiting for our first choice targets never came to fruition. But a good window overall. The team are performing better than pretty much anyone expected. There is a lack of depth in various places so fingers crossed on the injury front.
Next goal is to make sure we are in promotion contention in December so that Bird, Knight and our other saleable assets want to stick around for another 6 months.
    Onwards and upwards...

I think the thing that can't be understated is how quickly and effectively we went about our very early business.
That was absolutely crucial as it settled the whole club down, gave reassurances to the squad we had left and gave us something to work on in preseason to provide a platform for the season.
We could have easily collapsed into the season with half existing team propped up by u21s who aren't ready. And it would have been demoralising all around.
Beside I think the business we've done has been very good considering everything and I feel its as close to perfect as we perhaps could have expected.

In the confines of what we were able to do, pretty much perfect.
Given we can only offer two year deals there’s little point shopping in markets for slightly younger players as you end up in a sticky spot in a years time. So I guess the objective had to be to add as much first team ready quality as possible which we did. Hard to imagine we could have had a chance at some of the players brought in.
Could never have imagined keeping Bird, Knight and Sibley was possible either.

    So with the transfer window closed until January, and barring any free transfer that could still be added, this is the first team squad we’ve got;
    GK - Wildsmith, Loach, Anang
    LB - Roberts, Forsyth
    CB - Davies, Stearman, (Forsyth)
    CB - Cashin, Chester, (Rooney)
    RB - Knight, Oduroh
CM - Bird, Thommo, Hourihane, Smith (Rooney, Robinson, Knight)
CAM - Sibley, McGoldrick (Dobbin, Knight)
WF - Mendez-Laing, Barkhuizen, Dobbin (Sibley, Knight)
CF - Collins, McGoldrick, Osula (Cybulski)
Players in brackets are those I see as “alternatives” if we’re struck by injury etc and does show there’s a little bit of depth and flexibility within the squad plus some more academy options could be called upon if needed.
Considering where we were a few weeks back it’s a very solid squad in my opinion. Now I can’t wait to see it gel further and continue delivering results on the pitch ?

He's a key part of a team that's 7 unbeaten and has won the last 3, people just need to just stop focusing on whether he scores or not, and focus on whether we win or not. The goals will naturally come, he's scored goals throughout his career.
