Which is almost certainly why the statement released when we went into admin pointed out that we were the ONLY Championship club not to be granted the £8M+ loan to help deal with the impact of covid (thereby meaning we were more susceptible to the effects) - and also explains why the EFL are now back-tracking on their original statement that we didn't qualify for the money (due to the criteria that they set out) but rather that we didn't apply for it (more than likely because they told us in advance that we wouldn't get it).
The hows and why's of the loan are actually irrelevant though - the fact that we didn't get the money makes us an exceptional case and gives us grounds to appeal....

If you call Forest, Notts Forest their fans go nuts, miserable gets.
I thought let’s embrace the media’s insistence on attaching Frank Lampard’s to the clubs name for a laugh and it started there.
It’s really not meant to be that serious, I mean we even have sausages in the main board description.
When Cocu was here, we introduced the Oranje theme, it’s all just a little bit of fun when each new era starts.
I get Rooney isn’t massively popular with fans at the minute, but removing it just feels wrong whilst he’s in the job.
The day Rooney leaves I will remove it as I did Lampard and promise to never place a managers name on there again, even if we get Klopp, so none of you will have to be offended by it when you look at the homepage again. Deal?

Waggy paid off all his costs with two goals and a chest down for Roberts. Rooney saved us millions by keeping us up. Mel saved the Club's season by funding the purchase of Roberts who scored a vital goal. Season is over. We move on. COYR

Ashley now at 50% on here.
    I think I know why.
He has other local investments a.k.a. the Sports Direct sweatshop.
    He is English.
He withstood fan criticism for a long time, kept Newcastle solvent, and didn't bail out until new ownership was secured.
He kept within FFP rules and never had to go into Administration.
In other words, he is the devil we know, which for many people is better than the devil you don't.
From his point of view, a Championship club will tie up fewer of his resources than a PL one, and we represent a safe home for his dosh due to the loyal fanbase.
We are desperate TBH and we won't have a pop at him too much if he does the deal, not for a while anyway.
Our model of investing in local & Academy talent is similar to Newcastle's already.
From his point of view, it will make a change to be actually welcome somewhere rather than being the subject of constant abuse from the ungrateful hordes LOL.
The main issue that always crops up at Newcastle, namely "we have 50,000 fans, why aren't we top of the PL and winning stuff?" etc, won't be a problem here for some time to come, thus he obtains a breathing space from all the flak.
In conclusion, we don't have to like the person taking over, or approve of his business methods, but he has done nothing illegal (as far as I know), he isn't just a front for a deeply oppressive dictatorial regime in a foreign country, and he isn't an American with no real knowledge of how English football works.  He is the devil we know and he has money.  We could do far worse.
IMO Ashley, right here right now, is the LEAST WORST option of those available, and that's why I voted for him on here.

I think ultimately I want to see the club run without the need for a rich benefactor propping us up. I see people keen on the next millionaire taking us over, but that didn't work last time.
If the choice is being run in the championship at a deficit, or lower league at break even, I'll take the second one thanks.

Do you imagine that relegation, which you seem to be advocating, wouldn't result in even more job losses, nor threaten the future existence of the club?
The blasé way in which some fans seem to want the Club/Administrators to simply roll over and accept whatever punishment the EFL want to mete out, in some cases mainly (it seems) because they're "bored with it all" is quite staggering.
Unlike Wigan, DCFC's case is based on a full season of heavily impacted revenues. The argument that the owner could simply have made up the difference, or that he shouldn't have allowed the club to get into financial difficulties in the first place doesn't negate the impact of the pandemic.
I expect it to fail, because such a precedent is the last thing the EFL would want, but I'm pleased they're willing to try it, if only to keep our season alive.

If Derby is successful it could be the difference between relegation and staying up. Don't see how its ludicrous if they think there is a strong case.

It's all about the timing of covid, it happened at the time when Derby were least able to cope with it.
Maybe, if it had happened 5 years ago, another club or clubs, may not have been in a position to cope with it and we'd have been alright?
MM has thrown the dice and he/we have lost. But, you can't deny that we've had a lot of miss fortune along the way, all little things contributing to the situation that we're in now.
Financial cheating QPR beating us in the most one sided play off final ever.
SM, Rowett and Lampard all having their heads turned and leading to unnecessary management and direction changes.
Hughes and Bryson getting long term injuries right at the end of the transfer window, leading to panic buying and ultimately financial indiscipline by the club.
Key injuries to key players, we always seem to be waiting for our talisman to come back from injury.
The debacle of the Joiners Arms, how the club wish they didn't have that team bonding night, which only caused division.
A potential sale of the club ruined by the EFL questioning the sale of the ground, now proven to be legitimate.
The final nail in the coffin being covid.
How MM must wish he could turn the clock back and so do we.

I blame them Romans for coming over here and taking our jobs and Women then naming our town "Derventio", Celtic tribes picking off eachother to claim a bit of land, The Vikings for 'Danelaw' and Town Councillors for agreeing with others to take parts of other Counties.

Its funny how it is obvious that Newcastle have been bought by Saudi Arabia and do the fans care one jot about what Saudi Arabia stand for...of course they dont..they just see funding on a different planet to Man city and PSG - nothing else...that is all they care about - and the Premier League know this and Saudi Arabia know this..I wonder if any other club/set of supporters would act any differently...I suggest probably not..

Once contracts have been exchanged and the purchaser pulls out...then they're in breach of contract and can be sued in a court of Law.
I've been chased for the last 5 months for my deceased Brothers tax laibilities, The last one last month was for late filing of self assesment...£1,200 after i'd filled all relevent forms in, This one pi**ed me off, I was on the phone to a Tax adviser at HMRC who once he'd put in all the details of information i'd sent...he came to the conclusion that my Brother hadn't earned enough in the last 3 years to pay Tax, The Bill which is sent by automated printing in Northern Island doesn't get this information it just regergitates bills until a human being makes a decision...now here's the Rub...HMRC actually owe me £27.00 and I have the paperwork which was sent to me last week.
Dealing with HMRC is a God Damn Nighmare.

Strange how we all have different views. I had huge admiration for Swansea and the way the kept the ball and pressed us in the first half hour, but they didn’t really do much with it despite our back foot timid display. For me it was an absorbing match - and that unusual for me as I am a goal addict. I was disappointed with Stretton early on, slow to react and slow off the mark but he was gradually improving. There was some great defending and some near howlers. Allsop dominated his box, full of intelligence, anticipating problems and snuffing them out. Thought Dylan Williams did brilliantly both in attack and defence .. Since his debut, which was all willing endeavour but a bit short on horsepower, he seems to have got stronger. It’s going to be a feature of this season .. Many of these players are young and if handled right the growth in ability and resilience will be more visible every game .. We are seeing it already !

Once again a ref that gives a yellow card score of 3 - 0 to the opponents, presumably because they fell over more often and moaned more effectively. Fozzies was joke … just 2 players fighting for a ball that went out of play. Doubt there was a foul and never a yellow
Second half reshape helped and Swansea tired. We had the best chances, they had most possession. Draw is a fair result but if Tom had stick one away we’d have earned it by sheer graft.

We would have lost this last year. Second best team and we took a point. Take what you can get when you are tired and do not play well. Third best defence in the league. Chipped a point off two bottom three teams. 35 games to go.

Football is a weird game... Reading come here with 3 straight wins and we make them look ordinary ... Swansea come here with 1 win in 7 and from what I can read and see in 10 minutes are much better than us.

The EFL think we (the administrators) might appeal and I think we should. Covid is a factor and if we can show that the £8.5m would have kept us out of administration we will make a decent case for a reduction. They (EFL) said that Wigan appealed but were unsuccesful. I think with Covid our is a little different and a stronger case. Maybe they can deducte 6 points and give 6 for any other issues and leave us be.

rubbish Maguire and Gibson have no say efl are dealing with administrators not Morris now. we need to move on from this paper talk innuendo/clickbait rubbish and get our club sorted and as no one on here knows the full details why keep making things up does it help no. only thing that helps club is getting behind Wayne the team the club feel sorry for trusted hard working staff that lose jobs and look to future . don't whinge and whine about new prospective owners. i look at this way Middlesboro is still an awful place with or without Gibson. and we should applaud Wayne for dipping into his own pocket to help out.

There's definitely a good buyer already there and the possibility of an even better one coming in between now and when a decision will be made.
Between now and last Friday, I'm a much happier DCFC supporter.
