  1. lt will be interesting to see what the fed lead review comes up with. Two things are really urgent

    1. Distribute parachute money evenly and put relegation clauses into all player contracts.

    2. Put a % of trading turnover as a maximum of wages.

If that comes out then clubs will generally not be losing money every year. Player wages are the main cause of footballs problems.

  2. Don't forget Shinnie came on a free transfer and had a big substantial wage, and we are a couple of weeks away from being kicked out of the league and being wound up. Every pound of future expenditure saved will now help.

We also got Byrne the same way, and others the same way before that? That's the way it goes when players are close to being out of contract. About time the Bosman rule was looked at again for British football!

I was under the impression that the club generated an average of 25 million quid a year gross. After net deductions I'm kind of struggling to see how we are suddenly 6 million quid short of cash to the end of the season, even if that takes into account transfer payments due.

Dont forget the season tickets money was mostly carried over from last season, so not much season ticket revenue this season. Bet our turnover this season is approx £23 million, down from £30 million pre covid. This time of year every clubs cash flow is reduced, hence the cup run always being seen as a good thing.

    The coffers are currently empty!

  4. Its common for modest value players to go in January for a nominal fee, when their contract is up. It this case a £15k a week saving on wages is the big one. We got Shinnie for free also, so not really a bad deal in my view. £2 million a year saved in wages already, with Shinnie, Marshall, jags and Baldock, that's what the admins are looking at, and it means less cash required to run the club in the coming months.

How many more clubs are going to have to do the same? Is any club in the championship running at break even or better?

  5. So Marshall, Shinnie, Jags and Baldock off the books. Not much cash coming in but there must be in the region of £2 million per year in wages saved there. that must be a big improvement in cash flow for the rest of the season.

Wonder how much more is to come? Who next I wonder? Terrible that we have come to this, but perhaps we should have been challenging the numbers a few years ago.

Belick - £2 million - then off the wage bill

Lawrence - £1 million - plus wages of the wage bill

jozwiak - £1 million - plus wages off the wage bill

Bryne - £500,000 - plus wages off the wage bill

Knight - with gritted teeth £ 2 million and whatever peanuts of the wage bill

Morrison if anyone was to offer him a contract

Roos - £500,000 - does it matter if we only have one keeper the EFL don’t care

That's somewhere between 4 and £5 million per year in wages. No wonder we are in a mess.

  7. I suspect the twitter stuff about Jag's contract being cancelled is wrong. What it actually means is that his contract renewal to the end of the season cannot be completed, until the EFL have proof the club will have a positive cash balance to pay the outgoings until the end of the season. Last minute ducking and diving by potential preferred bidders may well be holding up things, or even a late bid coming in. Lets see, what's happened to the Gadsby involvement? That seems to have gone quiet, or has it?
