  1. Trouble is there is no way HMRC will agree to a reduced settlement just so the new owner can keep the valuable assets. Creditors will come first I'm afraid, so assets will have to be sold to fund a settlement with the creditors. the new owner will then have what's left. Its what administration is all about. We will be left with the bare bones I suspect. ?

  2. He will be sold on as soon as is practical, to remove the salary burden and also to avoid the burden of future payments, as we don't have the cash, or future cash flow to support keeping him I'm afraid.

Don't forget the admins had to borrow money to keep the club in operation, and our turnover is likely to be maybe half what it was assuming we are going to be in league 1.

  3. He will be gone in January, we cannot afford his wages, and we will take a nominal fee, all of which helps cash flow projections. The admins will have no choice.

Our total turnover will be something like £15 million in league 1, gone are the days of any £1 million plus player salaries, we may not even see Barker type transfer fees for a long time either. If we do it will be for outgoing players!

  4. Recently I'd say Johnny Russell v Forest, before that remember that volley from Arturo Lupoli v Colchester? Then Deano v QPR, (Out running Paul Parker who was meant to be the fastest player in the league) however Charlie George volley v Real Madrid as a 11 year old in the Normanton Upper has to be the best!

  5. I'd suggest the ultimate thanks should go to Lionel Pickering and the people around him at the time, late 1990s into the 2000s, for putting things in place for the academy we have now. Not only did he manage to make the move to Pride Park, he also wanted the academy to succeed. Wasn't he instrumental in getting it set up at Morley?

  6. I doubt he is on £38k a week. More like £20-25k. At £25k per week thats £650k in wages until his contract expires in the summer, so if we can get a nominal £500k, we will see a £1million plus improvement in cash flow before the summer. I imagine Jozniak will also be going for a fee which clears any future liabilities and removes his wage, quite possibly Bielik too. No doubt Marshall is on good money too, so add that one in too.

Big reduction in our cost base with those 4 going, £3-4 million per year? Wow, you can see how football and us in particular are in such a mess. A salary limit as a % of trading turnover is essential, before numerous other clubs go into admin.

Shame about Tom, as he has always had that touch of class and quality when he cuts in from the flank and looks to shoot.

  7. No chance I'm afraid. (A bit of reverse psychology..) So far this season in 17 games we have achieved slightly over 1 point per game, which is barely enough to avoid relegation normally. To achieve safety we need 1.8 points per game which is pushing for automatic promotion form. Are we going to go from relegation threatened to pushing for promotion form overnight? Are we capable of winning 2 on the trot even?

  8. I imagine that potential deals to offload Jozniak are already being discussed behind the scenes, and Lawrence will also be in discussion with his agent about moving on too. If Bielik becomes fit I suspect he will be gone too, as we cant afford the wages and future payments either.

That's going to be circa £3 million a year in wages saved, just on 3 players! Wonder who else wont be around next season? Anybody over £10k a week will have to go, or accept a revised contract.

  9. Interesting that in league 1 the salary limit is 60% of turnover. That's how the championship should be run, and without any parachute payments. If relegated from the premier leaguer then a championship salary kicks in. Tough!

Unfortunately one of the main reasons we are in this mess is/was a totally unsustainable wage bill, which many fans here also fully supported and encouraged at the time. "Get yer chequebook out Mel"   mentality is what has ruined us.

Time to start again under new ownership I suppose.
