cheron85 got a reaction from jono in Tom Carroll - Gone Ipswich
I think the 3 of them unfortunately would be poorer than the sum of their parts - All three are very talented players but I'm not sure they work together (yet)
I'm simplistic in my view on a midfield trio (and have stated on this board so many times I'm sure most are bored of it) - a Destroyer, a Creator and a Runner - The classic trio being Eustace, Hughes and Bryson - You a player who does one of the 3 well and then (if possible) can even do two
Knight is a runner with destroyer qualities - Sibley is a creator - But Bird is not a destroyer (for me) he's a deep lying creator - It's like when we were trying to play Bryson, Hughes and Hendrick - Hendrick was a runner not a destroyer
Bielik is a destroyer with strong creator qualities - Shinnie (for me) is a runner - So we still need a backup destroyer for the midfield I think

I think any of us not mentioned by page 5 would have to be classed in the "forgettable" bracket as a manager - And I can't decide whether actually that might be the exact kind of manager we need right now ?
Personally I'm going for @angieram with B4 as assistant - I feel like the sense of pragmatic optimism is needed from a manager right now and then the unrestrained love for the club from an assistant should permeate well into the playing squad
If players can't get themselves in the mood after B4 has given them a pep talk I genuinely don't know what else would

Whenever I think of a number two, I almost always think of @Boycie.

Got to be angieram, who could have a pop ? Knows her stuff about the academy and under 23’s as well as her general football nous. Rev as assistant for the laughs and lighthearted bants to keep the players spirits up. ?

cheron85 reacted to Sparkle in It's not 5 it's 4! Choose again.
We of course could lose one or two if we accept offers or requests for loans for example Hutchinson etc

I think (have been looking at these regulations in way too much detail) that loans are registered in a separate way - So loans out are still registered at the parent club but ALSO registered at the loaning club
https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-6---players/
However - I am more and more convinced that Wisdom and Davies must still be registered with us - And therefore the 5 which people keep talking about shouldn't include them (should they decide to accept the 1 year, limited terms contracts)

Another quirky little football rule to add to the mix.
Players reaching the end of a contract, and not offered a deal elsewhere are entitled to a further month's pay, almost like a redundancy payment.
It's likely Andre and Curtis are still on this month's payroll, so still registered.

Reading the rules I've as yet been unable to find the exact bit - But I don't think a player becomes unregistered unless the club specifically requests it - So you could have a player registered long after he's left the club (obviously there's little benefit to a club in doing that) - Registration doesn't seem to be linked to contract status

Stretton looks like he could be a decent player in 2/3 years - Delap looks like he'd tear the championship apart right now
We need players who will contribute right now unfortunately

Anyone got any idea whether Wisdom and Davies count towards the 5?
Surely as we already hold their registration they won't be counted towards new registrations? In which case the above covers 5?

I don't really understand how you think we're in a position to be developing young players who aren't ready yet? We barely scraped survival last season and we have a decimated squad
Any player who can come in and contribute RIGHT NOW is what we're crying out for - Not someone who will play a bit part but could be good in a couple of years

My understanding is yes - There is a term called 'out of registration' mentioned on the EFL website but I think that is for players who have been formally released - Davies and Wisdom haven't had their registration released (I don't think)
Oh yeh I get that - But I think (reading loosely around the contract vs registration thing) Davies and Wisdom wouldn't count as new registrations...

It also depends though on how likely you think an agreement would be reached with the EFL and how long you would expect to be under a transfer embargo
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57902385
It is understood the EFL will accept Derby's view that it would be unfair to class youngsters who played in their FA Cup loss at Chorley last season as being of 'professional standing'.
It's rare that the BBC report anything without a pretty firm idea that it's going to happen - So I'd imagine we're okay there
The second issue of the other factors keeping us under embargo - Don't account have to be submitted soon anyway? If we're able to submit in time and pay off the outstanding debts (taxes I assume are based on the filings we still need to make etc etc) - Then the club may know we're likely to be out of the embargo before the end of the transfer window - In which case our key signings need to be for the opening few games not the whole season
There's a balancing act here we know nothing about - It's unlikely to be a simple 'cancel contracts vs get relegated' situation
