Come on, you've been watching the game long enough to know the season has just started, you can't base the full seasons potential points total from the first 7 games.
Look at Forest, I guarantee you they won't finish the season on single digit points.
IF a buyer is waiting in the wings, we can be out of admin by January, allowed to bring in a striker some how, who knows?
Don't get me wrong, this is not going to be a piece of piss, the odds are well and truly stacked against us but that doesn't mean we simply give up. Come on now.

I was open to the idea, just as I was with Frank Lampard, if we're talking of love in's then I would kick Rooney out of bed for a cuddle with Frank any day of the week.
Liking the idea and wanting to see a bloke given a fair chance is not a love in, likewise I'm sure you don't hate the bloke, you just don't think he's the right man for the job.

Are 32Red subsidising it still, if so, how much?
Without knowing this I would say yeah it's pretty impossible to call it. I'm guessing when the accounts are published will reveal the answers.
In normal circumstances I would possibly jump on board with the easy, yeah he's the biggest earner, but it's not.

Needless to say, today's game is huge.
If we lose, we lose, but we need to see the players leave everything on the pitch, IF they do that, as Wigan did, dare I say we stand a chance of surviving, albeit a slim chance.
Now if they walk out, heads down looking defeated then it's finished, we're down without a fight and I fear Rooney will walk despite showing incredible loyalty so far.
The players need to step up for him, if not for us, and we, as fans, love him or hate him need to give him all the backing we can starting from today.
We do not want to be on the lookout for a new manager whilst in administration, a squad full of kids.
-12 is a given, we know that's coming as it's been confirmed, however if the EFL write off all the other potential punishment as they did with Swindon due to new ownership, we may be in a position to bring in some new faces in January.
Let's be honest, the EFL are not out to punish us, the fans, the club itself. Their crosshairs are lined squarely on Mel's forehead. If he's out the picture, they may lower their weapons.
Understand this is all very optimistic given what has happened, the odds are not stacked in our favour, however I can't sit here and demand the players do not walk on to the pitch today already defeated whilst having that attitude myself.

We know there was a star player clause where we would receive X additional money from 32Red, in turn that helped cover X% of his wages as a player.
Maybe that crossed over when he took the job making it the cheaper option as you say, but it's also possible the 32Red extra money stopped and he's no cheaper than X manager would have been.
X manager though wouldn't be the big name that will draw attention as Lampard did.
Handy having big names when you're trying to sell the club.
Not just that but Rooney was talking about having a lot of players messaging him wanting to play under him, Rooney as Lampard was would have been an idol whilst growing up for a lot of players.
Big reason why I think he would have no problems finding another job at this level if he was to leave.

Of course it matters who the manager is, you don't just write off the season, season ticket holders deserve to see a team give it their all for the remainder of the season.
Rooney's wages keep getting brought up, but it's just rumoured numbers, I can't sit here and agree we need him to walk as he's on too much money without a clue what his contract even is.

As I just replied in another post, -5, 10pts from safety, that could be 7 by the end of the day. That's not a write off.
If they slap the other 9 on then yeah, that becomes a task that would be too much.
Hopefully the admin process can be completed by January by which point Bielik and CKR will be back.
I just don't believe that right now, as of today this season is over, and I hope the players share that belief.
As for Rooney's wages again, it came from the Sun, DET rehashed it, credited the Sun. I just have a hard time believing they would have the figures of his contract.

-5 points, which would put us 10 points from safety isn't a write off, I seriously hope the players do not share your view that it is.
It's not just Rooney's contract I don't know, I don't know any of the players contracts, I suspect you don't either so I could say Lawrence and we wouldn't even know.
As I've said earlier, we don't know if 32 Red are still subsidising his wages and are in line with the rest of the squad.
I get it, he's the big name, must be on the most money but I'm going to need more than some journalist at the Sun to convince me we're currently playing 90k a week which is where all this has come from.

Putting aside Rooney's wages and the financial questions to one side.
Seeing Rooney walk would be a disaster, it really would, not that I would blame him for a second if he was to walk, from a selfish point of view I hope his loyalty will not be tested by all of this.
For those wanting Rooney out, just think for a second, we're entering admin, the clubs future is unknown, how many experienced managers will look and think this is a great opportunity?
How many will walk in and have knowledge of our squad, the likes of Dylan Williams, Jack Stretton, Festy Ebosele, these are not household names but are now tasked with playing a part in turning round a minimum of -5 points.
Regardless of fans thoughts on Rooney, his tactics, his misdemeanours off the pitch, performances this season have improved.
If his fight and loyalty can rub off on the players we stand a far better chance with him than without.
Surely even those that want him gone can see now is not the time. Even if you can't show him any love, at least be able to tolerate him.
Thankfully in the ground he's been given incredible support so far this season, that HAS to continue and would be nice to see it extended online here and across social media to help create the siege mentality needed to stand any chance of staying up.

I'm not convinced we will receive the full -21 deduction. -12 is a given, but with Mel out the picture, will the EFL drop all previous charges as we secure new ownership?
Reading the EFL's recent statement on Swindon Town:
An EFL Spokesperson said: “Whilst this decision relates to a period when the Club was under different ownership, the EFL has a responsibility to treat all cases of misconduct equally and has taken the appropriate course of action in line with its Regulations.
    https://www.efl.com/news/2021/september/efl-statement-swindon-town
This does for once make sense from the EFL, and whilst I admit to not reading through the pages of regulations, it's something I am holding on to as whilst -12 will be no easy feat to survive given the state of the squad, -21 would be simply impossible.
Having been under embargo for the best part of a year and a -12 points deduction, has the club not been punished enough now.
The clubs statement last night ended with what sounded like a plea to leave us be now, Mel's going, let the club rebuild.

True, and I feel for him as much as anyone in all this.
Saying that, this will ensure his reputation in tact, stays and takes us down or walks away.
Without comparing situations between Rooney and Cocu, who had it worse, clearly Rooney has had a lot to deal with from day 1, probably been through more than a lot of managers that are 20/30 years in.
Honestly think the performances have been incredible this year given the circumstances, even if the results do not show it.
Not his fault we do not have a natural goal scorer, you don't find many on a free transfer that would sign on embargo restricted wages.

    Not sure.
Let's say a potential owner is a major shareholder at say a betting company, in the summer they replace 32Red with their company.
They now have Wayne Rooney walking around with their company name on his chest.
Or Asia, a Chinese owner comes in, takes the club on tour over their in the summer parading their Wayne Rooney around, swapping Man Utd shirts for Derby.
Now he's sold his image rights company, he is an asset.
Not suggesting we take whatever results and performances that come as we have the Rooney asset, but just not sure it counts for nothing.
Having big names at your club makes it easier to market and make money. I mean look at 32Red, they paid us extra as we signed Rooney, wore the number 32.
    It's a business remember.

I understand that tonight many questions will be asked, both of the club and myself.
Tonight as the news was broke, I was sat in the pub, still am, it's hit me hard as I'm sure it has you all, I was not expecting it, there was no pre warning, no hint of what was to come.
I also understand that over the years my opinion has been questioned, it's something I have had to deal with, sometimes poorly, but with the best and honest of intentions.
Tonight I am hurting, just as much as you all, this is the club I love, the club I adore, the club I have tattooed on my hand for all to see with pride.
I love this club, please just think when posting over the next few days, weeks in anger, myself, the moderators, we do not deserve to be on the end of your anger or frustration.
Today is a dark day for the club, but as fans, we need to to stick together. We are Derby County, every one of us and we will move forward as one.
