  1. Fully expect him to sign or have signed and never doubted he would. He’s earned enough over his career that decisions are unlikely to be governed by money but more likely by his aspirations after playing and family situation along with the fact he clearly has Derby in his heart.

I see the Bristol C brain dead are up in arms that we have apparently got away with it..

I mean seriously....they are utter morons..

Won't ruin a perfect day though..been celebrating Canada Day and get the perfect news that our club is safe and in good hands..

I went on the Bristol forum for the first time today and couldn’t believe how vitriolic a couple of them were towards us, they seem amazingly concerned about any money that HMRC might not get.

Seems I’ve been banned already for asking how much tax their Guernsey based tax exile pays in the UK and how much income he makes here.

Every signing will have to be approved by the EFL to ensure it meets their criteria. There isn't going to be any "old, out of contract players, ringing us up with pound signs in their eyes" and, even if there was, we're allowed to say no. There's a maximum wage we're allowed to pay, a maximum overall % of revenue, and strict conditions about squad size, fees etc, so we can neither recruit too many players nor recruit any players on disproportionate wages. It will be very hard for us to recruit the type of player you're calling for unless they're out of contract, and that's a fairly limited pool.

I'm not sure what it is you're not getting about the transfer restrictions, but your constant mithering since the take-over was confirmed is really starting to grate. Have a weekend off, eh?

Being slightly pedantic, isn’t it a maximum AVERAGE wage? Which would mean we can sign players on higher wages but need to balance them with ones on lower ones.

I may be wrong, but in order to get compensation for losing the younger players (U23 or U24), do we need to have offered them an extension to their contract? I fear that Ebiowei may now leave for nothing and so will other youngsters, who's contracts have expired.

It said on the retained list we had offered a contract to him along with others. We can’t register a contract at the mo but guess that does not necessarily mean can’t make the offer.

The only question remains is whether the contract extension has been ratified by the EFL. I very much doubt it has until the takeover is complete and we can show proof we can actually pay the wages for that contract extension

I believed that “option extensions” on contracts on the same terms where excluded from any transfer embargo’s specifically?

Also had an estimated wealth of 252 million in 2018. Adding 50 million quid on from the previous year.

Property developers like Kirkland seemed to have made money through the pandemic too. I'd like to think he's amassed North of 300 million by now. Obviously not all spare cash.

I'd say he has the money to finance a League One promotion and then a lower to mid table Championship club. Which will do.

The problem is that additional wealth is unlikely to be liquid and only becomes tangible by selling all or part of the family business.

  7. To anyone who is struggling to understand what is going on with Derby at the mo spare a thought for the poor foreign chap at the Spanish hotel I’m currently staying at. Just caught the end of a conversation he was having with an English guest which went along the lines of “how would you say preferred bidder? A guy called Chris Kirchner”.

Seems us Rams will cry on anyones shoulder who will listen.

They won't be offered terms of a lower value though will they. The terms will be EXACTLY THE SAME, the only difference being the company name that's on the contract.

You don’t even necessarily get a new contract as when I got TUPE’d it was just a letter telling me that I was being transferred to the new company on a date and my contractually terms remain the same.

If players object to the TUPE then surely OldCo still own the registrations and could possibly pay the wages until able to sell them separately? Think refusing means they cannot transfer to NewCo not that they are no longer contracted although guess that gets messy as the OldCo would no be a recognised football club. Could end up sitting in limbo for a while whilst it got sorted.

Has he ever made an actual bid as most commentators claim he has not. This sell it to him or he will sue does not sit well with me for our new owner. If he really wants us what about putting in a bid and while you are at it make it the highest bid and you will get to buy DCFC

Would be strange to sue someone for not making you preferred bidder if you hadn’t made a bid!

Ashley knows he’s not in the race price-wise he’s going to try and circumnavigate the process

Most likely wants a cut to the Admin fees, this might be the way to get that.

At the end of the day we need whoever owns the club to get the best deal they can purchasing it which then hopefully leaves more left over to fund the squad.

Q are the only ones who know the  facts, anyone else are speculating either for clicks, or notoriety.  The prospective buyers will know their own position but will be sending out non truths to the press or supporter groups to gain a momentum with the staff and fans.

so what I meant to sum up with is if we are relying on Q then it’s a frustrating time still.

My point is people keep quoting things as facts and they have absolutely no knowledge if they are true or not.

Specifically about MA the only facts we surely know to be true are he was interested at one point as his spokesperson announced it, he has the money and has a record of buying “distressed” companies.

There are negative comments about his potential ownership based on the fact he won’t pay enough to avoid a further points deduction which might not even be true. Don’t get me wrong it’s not that I have a firm preference but I wouldn’t want to rule anyone out.

  12. So read through many posts just want to check I understand correctly the “facts” that people keep quoting:

Mike Ashley hasn’t made a bid for the club at all but he has and we all know its £28m including stadium and this not enough to avoid a 15pt deduction but he can’t make a bid as the administrators won’t talk to him as he won’t pay their fees although they haven’t excluded anyone from the process.

Does anyone actually know anything for a fact? All the rumour and speculation that gets passed on enough times that it becomes a fact and drives hated towards people who I am sure are trying their level best to save OUR club is not helpful.

I don’t care if the stadium and club are owned separately, I don’t care if we have a 15 point deduction, I don’t care if the admins can retire off the back of us, I don’t care who the owner is and I don’t care what division we are in. At this point I just want to know I have my football club to watch next season and beyond.

    Hi,

That’s when you would report the gain to the tax authorities, it’s reported in the accounts in the year in which the gain is reported under the accruals principle.

Would it only needs to be accrued for in the period it becomes due not the period the liability results from?

Either way have the 2018/19 accounts been published as I cannot find them to see if it was.

  14. 15 hours ago, The Baron said:

There's no significant liability in the DCFC accounts in 2018, which was when the stadium sold, and the last set of accounts published before Morris decided to break the law and stop publishing accounts.

    From gov.co.uk:

”You need to report your gain by 31 December in the tax year after you made the gain. For example, if you made a gain in the 2021 to 2022 tax year, you need to report it by 31 December 2022.”

So a sale in June 2018 would not need reporting until 31 December 2019.

  15. 10 minutes ago, The Baron said:

Because HMRC issued a winding up order in January 2020, they would not have done that for a trivial sum.

Is not a significant part of the HMRC bill not for Capital Gains on the sale of PP? The “sale” was made during 2018/19 tax year so would need to have been reported by the end of December 2019 and therefore explain why significant sum was owing in January 2020.

The fact he seems willing to let the council have it and rent it off them suggests not.  There's no way he will be able to secure any borrowing against it if they own it.

Problem I have with that is I never believed that the council buying the ground was a realistic option considering the timescales required. They simply would not be able to do it quick enough,  so always thought CK would “reluctantly” offer to buy it at the last minute but on his terms.
