  1. Talking to a guy I work with in the 15+ category and he’s now buying tickets for every away game whether going or not just to keep up his priority for next season. If not going then he sells them on. This could explain why had 2 empty seats next to me at Shrewsbury.

So for anyone trying to work out which games will have allocation remaining might need to keep this in mind as doubt he’s alone in this.

MK Dons will as well. Remember Sheff Weds took 7k there last year.

I think Ipswich,Barnsley, Bolton and maybe Plymouth have a chance. Any news on number of Away Memberships? Can’t see there would be more than 2.5k

Don't want to debate the whole Away Members thing, but the new system leaves the postal tickets for the Shrewsbury game for us members with less than 5 away last season a bit tight. Why two days for each category?

They go off-sale online on Friday 12th so won’t be posting them as it’s in person purchase only.

Rooney’s latest statement (explaining why he left) makes no sense.  He says

‘We had no owner, we had no players and it felt I had got to the point where I did all I could’

But he ‘resigned’ just as Clowes was taking over.

Chris Kirchner probably offered to post his resignation letter for him just took a while to arrive.

    I don’t think that’s correct. There are rules in place both domestically and internationally that ensures clubs are paid compensation for the training and development of a player under the age of 24 who moves on a free transfer. It’s explained quite well in these articles;

    https://www.easportslaw.com/news/training-compensation-and-solidarity-mechanism

    https://level.law/news/determining-the-level-of-compensation-for-out-of-contract-football-players-2

I’ve been looking for more info on it and can’t see anything that says it’s dependent on a contract being offered as this compensation is distinctly paid for the historic development of the player as a youngster, a future contract has no bearing on the time and cost put into developing the player from the age of say 12 to 21.

67.3        Subject to the provisions of this Regulation 67, any Club which makes an offer in accordance with Regulation 67.2 of re engagement to a Contract Player who is an Under 24 Player and which is in the opinion of the Board not less favourable than the Player's current contractual terms, shall be entitled to a Compensation Fee in respect of the loss of the Player's registration, should the Player sign for another Club.  In order to comply with this Regulation, the annual value of the terms offered must be at least equivalent to the most favourable year's terms in the Player's previous contract.  The terms offered to Players for re engagements must be as favourable overall except that a signing on fee included in the previous contract and stated to be a once only payment need not be repeated.  Copies of all offers of re engagement made to Contract Players must be sent to The League.

I would imagine that the club would still have both players on the payroll, but with heavy fines for effectively going on strike.

it would be interesting to see if what the punishment to Werder Bremen would be for playing an ineligible player, if that's proven to be the case. I can't imagine they will risk playing him until that's proven to be the case.

I'd imagine Byrne is having a much more difficult time of it as he's likely to have only interest from English clubs. The EFL have already stated their stance on this situation so Byrne won't be able to play for another club without us releasing his registration. I'm really not sure why he's gone about it in the way he has, because he isn't getting a move to a top flight team like Buchanan (despite being the substantially better player) because he's an undersized 30 year full back who has played his entire career in the lower divisions. He might not even earn more money than he's currently getting paid by Derby.

He would've been a very important player for us this season, a chance to build on his already respected reputation and he's chosen to throw that out of the window, s******* on the new owner and the fans in the process, so let's see what for? He could've just requested a transfer and been wished all the best. Shame.

What we really need to know if The FA's view as they are the ones who would need to issue an International Transfer Certificate to grant international clearance, I suspect the EFL do have some input to this but not sure how much. Doubt very much FIFA will take action if a certificate is/was issued.

Those two contracts were extended by the club prior to its sale and done in line with their contracts - the new owner purchased those assets within the purchase price. sure they can say they don’t want to work for Derby county anymore but they can’t just walk out and play professional football anywhere else until Derby county are compensated to their satisfaction.

another minefield would have been if say Belick wanted out and the status of his contract and would the new Derby county be liable for any of debts due on him, then the football creditor rule kicks in from the EFL but are Derby county not a football creditor in this situation? - the wonderful EFL need to be speaking up on this so that ourselves and other clubs are aware of the EFL stance?

The new company are not liable for any debts, the debts stay with the old company that is in administration and the money David Clowes paid for the assets is used to settle them.

Yeah, that’s my poorly put question.  Could players with contracts that run beyond the takeover also rip them up?

if that’s the case Derby have a big fight on their hands that affects the whole of football.

This is another example of footballers wanting it every which way.  Take the extension you signed on for and we can sell you if it’s not possible to persuade you to stay.

I thought this but didn’t post for fear of alerting players to this, I think by training/playing it could be considered they accepted the transfer as they have in effect “worked” for the new employer. Concerned that Bielik might try it as not sure what is happening with him.

Youre right about the age rule. We started with Bird, Knight, Bielik and Byrne as all are older than 20.

We may have an individual wage cap as part of the business plan, which would prevent us from offering Lawrence a disproportionate amount of the wages.

According to the below I found there are Transitional arrangement so surely Bielik, Bird and Knight would be excluded. As Byrne is a renewal I suspect he would have to be included.

    “Relegated clubs

The rules apply to all clubs and there is no moratorium for clubs relegated from the Championship. However, Transitional Arrangements are in place whereby clubs are allowed to exclude the wage costs of all players that the club signed pre September of the relegation season, if they were signed on contracts in excess of 3 seasons.”

Basic wage, goal/game/other bonuses, promotion bonuses, and even expenses must all be included in the SCMP 75% limit. I expect the same inclusions for the business plan agreement.

Although this wouldn’t apply in the case of Tom Lawrence, just reading the rules and transitional arrangements allow us to exclude our existing players that were contracted before last September and players 20 and under in the majority of cases. Quite interesting as guess we pretty much started from zero salary calculation last week.

Is it therefore possible we could use Loan Fees and wages received from Bielik to “fund” Tom Lawrence’s wages for a year?

Confirmed, don’t understand the “free transfer” bit. Even if he did get out of his contract we’re due compensation due to his age and having been developed for years by the club under FIFA regulations.

You only get compensation if you’ve offered a new contract I, that was why Ebosele was on the retained list even though he already had a pre-contract signed.
