In fairness, it appears you're asking the wrong person, in @Ilkestonian.
This should be aimed at those who have openly aired their intentions (on here) to invade the pitch at full time.
I've made my views clear.  But that's not to say I believe a pitch invasion will in itself lead to a points deduction, as I don't imagine it will for one moment.
My anti-invasion opinions are based on the fact that:
A/  The invaders will be going against the club's wishes, plans, and publicly announced statements, along with the laws of the land.
B/  The potential of those left in the stands missing the advertised "Lap of honour", due to it being cancelled should the pitch not be cleared in an appropriate timescale (There's only so much one man with a megaphone can achieve!).
C/  The potential for just ONE of the assumed thousands on the pitch doing something SO STUPID, that that in itself "COULD" lead to action being taken against the club, be that a fine, points deduction, or any other sanction the EFL has in their power.
Your question is a fair one.  It was just a poor aim.  👍🐏

if a player or indeed anyone gets hurt, then we are open to something even more severe. Our history with the EFL shows that would make an example of us. We don't want to throw away promotion if we do win.

I'm presuming that Curtis Nelson will get his POTS award pitchside pre-game? That's worth turning up early for, imo.

Just so you know, it ain't cool to bear grudges.  It ain't mature to swear in public.  It ain't uplifting to dwell on previous negatives.  It is not sagacious to disrespect the hierarchy.

But come Saturday, from 90:00 and throughout the additional minutes... with the resuscitated Rams on the verge of a new life... throw all that in the bin, and let's give 'em the rousiest, passionest, Black & Whitest, most heartfeltest rendition of "They docked us 21 points..." British football has ever... EVER... witnessed.

I don’t know where you’ve been reading that but I suspect there is zero chance of a points deduction. It happens all the time when a team wins something or gets promoted. It’s already happened at least twice this season (Pompey and Wrexham) and I’ve not see any mention of such a sanction.
Wherever you read it, stop reading there.
I also don’t think the club should embrace a pitch invasion. They’ll probably expect it’s going to happen IF we seal promotion but they shouldn’t be encouraging it. Accept that some will run on the pitch but hope/aim to get them to return to stands for the lap of appreciation to take place. I’m not sure how the elderly and unsteady person on the row in front of me would be partying on the pitch. 😀

They do a full month (no contract) for about £34.
But my go to for a one-off Rams game is their Day Pass... £11.99... 24 hr period starts when you're ready (so you can buy today and have it sat ready to activate).

I see you refer to "the precise moment that a gap appears between the foot and the ball" (i.e. when contact twixt foot and ball is completed.)
I'd argue it needs to be when that gap first disappears... when foot first makes contact with said ball, and thus before all compressions are effected.
Firstly, that would occur sooner, thus giving the "advantage" to the attacker.  And secondly, I'm a complete arse, and just wanted to pooh-pooh your theory for the craic!

Either way, we need to add more cameras, more eyes in the shed at the bottom of the garden, more monitors, some "infra-red tangent threads" (Patent pending) on the ball, and some sort of beeper that marries the ball contact with the attacker's position.
Oh... and more time for the experts to digest the given information before confirming to the excited audience whether they have just witnessed a goal... or not!
    Simples!
