    I actually found it deteriorated.
The first few were ludicrous but strangely entertaining in an over the top 'look how crazy we all are shagging and taking drugs' kind of way.
It then got turgid in a middle-classed navel gazing exercise of where it all went wrong.

Once upon a time in Hollywood 5/10
I'm sure it's very clever. I'm sure it's a great homage to Hollywood in the late 60s. Pitt and De Caprio are terrific.
As a piece of entertainment I found it hugely disappointing.

    Just finished Normal people tonight.
Superb.  The ending makes you want more, and hopefully the author has a 2nd book up her sleeve.

After Life S2 was marginally better than S1 because at least the main character wasn't entirely an unsympathetic, one dimensional ******** who's only redeeming features were those that is dead wife told us he had, but were never once shown in any of the modern day scenes or flashback videos in which he appeared to be a completely intolerable Bamford.
None of the flashbacks in S2 particularly painted him in the best light either.
The majority of the series is basically just watching Ricky Gervais pull sad faces, talking glumly and saying the things he thinks bereaved/depressed peopee would say, backed up by some sad music and the occasioanal appearance of a dog.
His character, and the supporting characters all even remark on the fact that his behaviour is all largely for show.
There are some good moments, of course, and sometimes all the manipulative, everyman, TV tricks added up to a degree where an emotional response was unavidable, it was like watching Long Lost Family. I think there was only one time across all of the episodes where Gervais and his character seemed to be genuinely three dimesional and relatable (one of the park bench scenes nearer to the end) but it's since been pointed out just how bloody awful the dialogue was ("It's my job as a woman" or something), so scratch that.
    It's a 6/10 series. 5/10 for genuine emotional connectivity, 7/10 for comedy.
The psychiatrist character was the most cringeworth and least funny thing I've seen on TV for years though, a complete characetuer without a shred of the humanity that the rest of the show yearned for but never achieved.

Yes, raised this myself in an earlier post.
    Biggest ever show for BBC3.
Great performances from the two main protagonists, both of whom are set for stardom.
It is slow but it’s also a beautiful work on the pain of love.

Anyone watching Normal people on BBC?
Very very slow and each episode is drawn out, but its compelling viewing.
Superb acting by the 2 main characters.

Crash - the story of Derby's championship season.
With Jake Gyllenhall as Richard Keogh and Rylan Clark Neal as Tom Lawrence.
Stephen Graham stars as Wayne Rooney who single-handedly rescues both from the wreckage of their crumpled cars before leading Derby to the Premier League under the quiet tutelage of Philip Cocu, played by Mark Heap.
    I'd watch it.

    Wow!
Eddie thanks so very much for taking the time to deliver such a comprehensive response.
I’ve been using Beerwulf for a while now and have enjoyed sampling some really nice beers.
I agree with you on St Feuillien. Tried that in the latest batch. Lovely.
I will certainly give some of the others a go. I am very much in the quality over quantity camp now and don’t mind paying a little extra for that indulgence.
    Many thanks again and cheers!

There's a new Duvel tripel hop with Cascade as the third hop. I'm told it's an improvement on Citra, which is sooooo grapefruity. I used to use it myself in home brewing a few years ago, and it's not very subtle.
If hoppy beers are your thing, then a couple of Belgians I would definitely recommend are Hommelbier and Troubadour Magma - subtle but quite hoppy all the same.
Corsendonk Agnus is very nice, so you are definitely on the right track.
A few beers which are regular go-to beers for the wife (she is an absolute tripel nut, whereas I'm more into the maltier dubbels and quads, but I do love each of the following):
Tripel LeFort Waterloo Tripel Blond Tongerlo Prior Straffe Hendrik Tripel Westmalle Tripel Tripel Karmeleit La Trappe Tripel (actually Dutch, from the monastery of Koningshoeven) If you like sour(ish) beers, Straffe Hendrik Wild is worth trying. It's basically their 'normal' tripel with an injection of Brettanomyces Bruxellensis for the secondary fermentation. I think it's remarkable, and the sourness is very subtle. There is also one Trappist monastery who only brew one beer, and that is Orval. It's not so much sour as 'funky' - well worth getting your hands on a bottle to try.
There is a style of Belgian beers which are specifically 'summer' beers, blond like the tripels, but not as strong (although most are in the 6-7% range so hardly 'session' beers, and that is the Saisons. You can get your hands on one at Tesco, believe it or not, and it will only set you back £5 for 3 bottles - the beer is called 'St Feuillien Saison' and it's quite delicious. Serve it cold on a summer's day. Other saisons worth looking for in decent beer shops include Saison Dupont, Urthel Saisoniere and the wonderfully named Saison Silly.
Another style which Belgium is renowned for is the spontaneously fermented Gueuzes and Lambics (think about the way that cider is fermented), but that's really for another day.
One other style which is worth a mention is Gruut. This is a style that is pretty well exclusive to Ghent, and its history goes back 400 or so years and originated because of extremely high taxes on hops - so the Ghent brewers turned to a mixture of herbs as a bittering agent.

I have really enjoyed Michael Portillo’s Great Asian Railways programmes.
He’s an engaging presenter and makes the history of the places he visits interesting. He’s a good sport and throws himself into the culture and adventure of wherever he goes and his outfits are quite something to behold!
I met him a few years back and he was a genuine people person, not remotely aloof.
I particularly recommend the episode in Thailand.
