Sadly this will be my last match today. My first was in 1956 as a 13year old, My dad used to take me before that but he stopped going when we went down to the third division north. My mate and I would catch the 12 oclock bus from Melbourne and be the first in the ground. We stood in the Normanton end pigeon loft, I think it was 3 shilling. To this day I remember that team. We were champions in 1957 and I ran onto the pitch after the last match against Southport, Ray Straw scored 37 goals that season, The next ten years saw me start work, get married and have two children, I had moved to Derby, and after my family, the Rams were the most important thing in my life I never missed a home game in those ten years even though we were only an average second division side. And then in 1966 after England won the world cup my mate and I decided to have a season ticket, Little did we know what would happen that season, I was at work one day and a Rams supporting work mate told me we had signed a player from Bradford Park Avenue, his name was Kevin Hector I'd never heard of him but he was without doubt the most wonderful footballer to grace the Baseball Ground I had ever seen, and because of this we wanted to see more players like him which led to Tim Ward getting the sack and BC becoming Manager, what followed was ten years of unbelievable success and enjoyment. And then things started to go wrong off and on the pitch and I stopped being a season ticket holder during Peter Taylors time as manager, i still loved The Rams of course and when I turned 65 and retired my old mate from Melbourne and I bought season tickets again. But sadly covid left my best friend of 80 years with a dementia problem and he know no longer knows me. For the last two seasons I have been going alone to the match but its just not the same for me. Therefore I am calling it a day, as I write this I am welling up as I will do this afternoon. Thank you Derby County for every thing I will love you till I die.

From next Thursday, 11 April, Lidl have the Belgian beers in again.
I am 81 and for 65 of those years I have been a bitter drinker, in the 60s,70s and 80s I was a heavy drinker but as i got older my drinking habits changed, I now drink red wine and whisky with the occasional pint of Abbot. I like to read your posts about Belgian beer but have never tried any, I have been to Belgium a number of times but have drunk the bog standard draught beer as i have else ware in Europe. So I see the Beer Lidl have for sale are Blondes, triple hop, dark double and cuvee des trolls ale. None of that means anything to me. I have decided to try one, which should i try first? and are these beers drunk chilled or room temperature? not a fan of cold lager type beer. Cheers

I remember the chant going round the ground, clough clough we've had enough, that wasn't Nigel it was Brian. And thinking about it I would estimate in my 68years of watching and loving the Rams I have seen them play over 2000 times, and Saturday certainly wasn't the worst I've seen by a long way.

Ex referee Mike Dean admits he failed to call a mistake when he was video assistant ref, to save his mate Anthony Taylor who was the referee, from further grief in a match between Chelsea and Tottenham. How many more bad decisions have been made for the same reason?.

Been to London this weekend courtesy of my family for our 60th wedding anniversary. Yesterday we took in the Freddie Mercury auction exhibition, was worth seeing. Then last night went to see the abba hologram show. I have been to live rock concerts and this was nothing like. but for the sheer experience it was mind blowing, but to hear people cheering a hologram was a little bit strange. But it was very clever and enjoyable. I found that I could not clap even though I was an abba fan many years ago. Also on another note the average price of beer and wine was at least £9.

Paul Warne is not the manager he is head coach, there is a subtle difference.

That's a very good question. 5 other seasons at this level, but 2 were promotions. Going on the first 4 games, we're worse than last season.
So the question is, were we worse in 55-56 or 84-85? I saw some of the latter and I'd we're worse now. So we need someone who was around in the mid 50s to settle this.
What are you talking about? my first season as a full blown supporter we finished second to Grimsby, It was for a 13 year old a great season followed by an even better one in 57. In the sixty odd years since I think I have seen more poor sides than good ones. We must have had 40 different managers in that time most have left because they were rubbish.

I went to see Dial of destiny yesterday and i quite enjoyed it. But as there was only my wife ,myself and two others watching there was a lack of atmosphere. The best part for me was meeting the legend himself B4.

My first game as a Rams fan was in 1955 in the third division north I was 13. I bought my first season ticket in 1966 the last season of Tim Ward as manager and the first season of Kevin Hector(the King). I have never wavered in my love for Derby County, so in those 68 years I have seen the best and the worst of them. And I enjoyed last season as much as the first. And speaking of the King my wife and I have received a card from the King and Queen this morning on our 60th wedding anniversary. UTR.

Can't help thinking of Billy Caskey reading this post.

Why are we discussing Sheffield?, we could still be facing Barnsley.

In another topic on here, Anagram talks about the cruddy lard sold on the concourse at Pride Park. Of course I know he doesn't mean bread and lard sandwiches. But I was brought up on lard and dripping on bread. I have been married 60 years this year and have never had dripping or lard in that time. I never realised that I have missed either but having read that/this post I think I have. Anyone else eaten Dripping or lard?

It was my 14th birthday and the best present I had was the Rams beating Scunthorpe 4-0, On Boxing day we won 4-1 at Scunthorpe, it was a really happy Christmas for me and all Rams fans. Tomorrow wont be as happy as I am 80 so not a lot to be happy about. Just looking forward to a Wembley trip next year in the play offs. Merry Christmas RAMS fans everywhere .

Reading this thread about scoring direct from a corner reminded me of the first time I saw a Rams match televised. It was a FA cup first round game against Bradford City in 1956, I remembered it particularly because Tommy Powell scored direct from a corner. So I found it on you tube, and it was just as I remembered it. One camera at pitch level, you had a job to see the ball never mind if it was over the line or not. But watching it this morning I found it gave me a lovely warm nostalgic feeling for a time as a 13 year old Rams fan.
