Only Mel, the administrators and @i-Ram know the answer to that question, but the first two aren't telling and the third one is still trying to work out if the club badge has got a big eye on it or not!

For me it’s blindingly obvious. The EFL has failed in its duty as a governing body.
Mel Morris gambled, failed, and ran out of money. We might have soldiered on with him but Covid threw petrol on the glowing embers.

The EFL however have pursued clubs that breach FFP as if they were pariahs and cheats when in fact they were just clubs with funds trying to compete with the half dozen parachute clubs with so much money following their fall from the prem that they have budgets vastly different from other clubs in the league. FFP and P+S were never anything to do with fairness.

The EFL has been limp when selling rights to broadcasters which hasn’t helped the finances of the championship but has been antagonistic in the extreme towards anyone who has the temerity to question its competence.
When it has been called on to show leadership it has vacillated, dithered, acted to preserve its own status and power rather than the clubs it is supposed to represent. It is riven with self interested groups and hasn’t an iota of sportsmanship in its rotting corpse. It’s lack of professionalism in presenting cases in dispute has at times been laughable, preferring to rely on power and pomposity rather than fact and reason.

In my opinion it needs disbanding forthwith.

Correct. It’s a couple of blokes in London making guesses and creating all the other 'lists' the Times does as well. In 1990 they estimated Robert Maxwell's fortune at £1.2 billion. Less than a year later he was dead and one of the largest debtors in history.
Only Mel and his accountant will truly know how much he is worth. The Sunday Times rich list certainly won’t.

Presumably you @The Baron, will have the opportunity on the radio tonight to concentrate your fire  on Middlesbrough and Wycombe, without risk of ending up on the cutting room floor.
They could both of them end this problem tonight, by withdrawing their spurious claims. They could show some leadership, some magnanimity and an awareness that the whole of football below the EPL top 6 are under considerable financial stress, never mind Derby. They could also dig their mates at the efl out of an unholy mess. You could use your various platforms to help football as a whole.

Para 5 is important. It says that Boro first made their claims 12 months ago, suggests that WW were more recent (though it doesn’t say so). Only last week have the EFL decided that they should seek submissions to try to bring an end to the impasse. Incompetents.
And then later they confirm that the potential value of the claims is unknown and then suggest that the bidders are being unreasonable by not progressing without that knowledge.
The statement reeks of incompetent inaction from an incompetent organisation. We can only hope that the public and political pressure will allow them, however late in the day, to do what they should have done in the beginning - create an arbitration process that allows for a decision to be reached that keeps one of their members in competitive business. Quickly.

    Erm...

    then this

Essentially - Our insolvency policy is uselessly vague and we have no idea how to apply it.
We are a complete waste of space and we have completely destroyed the integrity of the competition through our own incompetence

    Your Sincerely

@The Baron, why couldn't you bring yourself to raise the vindictive claims by Boro and Wycombe being the sticking point on your TV interview. You forensically went after DCFC's accounts and we have been punished fully by our points deduction yet you fail to recognise that and will be complicit and as guilty as Gibson and Parry if we go out of business.
ducking disgraceful, vindictive behaviour from someone like yourself who professes to be a football fan.

And selling the entire first team then makes a mockery of the integrity of the league as we play out the remaining part of the season.
How we sort it out is straightforward.  Boro and WW withdraw their claims or some kind of negotiated settlement/compromise is reached that allows them, the PB and the EFL to be comfortable or the administrators raise the funds (either through borrowing or sales or both) to show proof of funds, using the time to follow option 1 or 2, or the courts rule.
If we are to survive AND remain competitive so that our fate is decided on the pitch, we have to hope that the pressure can continue to be ramped up on those who can find a way of getting the two clubs to withdraw or find a compromise.
    Keep the pressure on!

Isn't it great how the conversation has changed over the last 72 hours? Thanks to the valiant call-to-arms of some heroic Rams fans the noise generated has been spectacular.
MPs, media doyennes, City of Derby leaders and 40,000 fans have put their shoulders to the wheel and turned the discussion on its head.
Now it's not (all) about how naughty Derby County are; it's about shining a spotlight on what is fair and appropriate.
    Well done to all involved.
