Yep, it’s about 4 posts up!
In the clip yesterday of Warne telling the squad about Wilson he says how he tried to sign him last year. Pretty sure he said the same about Sonny Bradley too.
You can’t underestimate the impact a bigger club with a bigger fan base and better facilities have on a decision. Players turned down Warne at Rotherham, but are more than willing to come to Derby to play for him. And to think some people thought that a non-league player decided against joining us because he didn’t want to play for Warne.

I’ve heard we signed him a week ago but they were not allowed to show photos until he had grown some semblance of a beard .

Weird cos all four that have signed so far have all said the exact opposite.
Ridiculous statement.
He'll attract players as he has done so far.
Window doesn't shut till the end of August.

I can’t believe Warne approved this.
My confidence in him is beginning to waver.
George Burley and Steve McClaren wouldn’t have stood for this.

Bet Mel designed and chose this. Maybe Ed Dawes should ask Clowes about it

Maybe there needs to be a poll to put a number on the genuine anti-warners, might help stop these slanderous accusations, sneering insults and constant digs that besmirch the good name of those of us just wanting to have an honest discussion about where we're at!?

Clowes has said in his interview that we will have the biggest budget. With that comes a lot of expectation, from fans and also from the board. Clowes will not want to get stuck down here for another year, even if he didn’t expect promotion last season.
It’s an awful lot of expectation to rely on scrapping around for frees in positions like strikers where there really isn’t that much quality for nothing.
We could build a good enough squad with £0 outlay in transfer fees, except for the forward position in my opinion. Last years’ stats showed we actually played well enough and created enough to challenge for the top 2, we just couldn’t put chances away.
I think we will spend on a striker, but it’ll have to be one that Warne really wants. He doesn’t want to fail to get us promoted, but it’s even worse if he also fails while having the biggest budget.
Spending two or three weeks extra finding the best fit for us will be more worthwhile than rushing into something so they have a couple weeks longer in pre-season.

It’s only July 1st. We’ve been in pre-season for a few days. We’ve not even played a friendly.
We have made four signings, all of whom will strengthen the squad and give us more depth and flexibility and all of them have a good track record in this division and experience of the division above.
Knowing how quickly deals can come together, why would anyone be twitching?
We need to judge Warne and this squad with the fullness of time. We have to see how the team looks on the pitch and how it performs in relation to the rest of the division.
Warne is looking for a winning blend. It’s not necessarily always big names and big reputations that deliver the best teams. Last year’s champions Plymouth were not laden with star names, but what they did have was a group of players that bought into the manager’s vision and executed it on the pitch.
Let’s wait and see if Warne can assemble a group in a similar manner and let’s not let our assumptions hold us in a vice-like grip. We could be one of the best footballing sides in the division come August 5th.

Most of the twitching is probably borne out of McGoldrick leaving. Personally, I’m not twitching and I’m pretty relaxed for a few reasons.
In DC’s interview he said he always goes about his business quietly and I think that’s been shown so far. I like this approach and it’s a welcome change. Just because there aren’t lots of rumours, press stories, etc doesn’t mean nothing is happening. And I suspect a lot of the players we have been linked with we probably haven’t had a serious interest in.
PW has said it’s easy to get players to sign for Derby but he wants the right ones. Again, a welcome change from when we seemed to sign anyone and everyone. PW wants to have a team, rather than a bunch of footballers that he needs to work out what to do with them.
Our business so far is sensible in that it’s filled gaps. The midfield, either in CM or ACM/SS role has already been strengthened by these signings. Smith and Knight (if he’s still here) are free to play in CM. Sibley is free to play as an ACM/SS.
I think a lot of the signings will be “underwhelming” but I don’t see that’s as a problem as it’s about the team. We’ve gone from having MM’s personal real life panini sticker album and signing anyone and everyone at inflated prices to going about our business in a quiet, understated manner. Dare I say, more professional.

I don’t see what more the club could have done here.
We haven’t had any leverage where Bielik is concerned for a while now.
We are obviously trying to make the best of an extremely bad situation.
If the fee is £1 million, then it’s a small victory.

If we decide to cash in on Bird and Knight, then we have to trust Warne and the men behind the scenes.
I like both players but maybe they have reached their ceiling with us. At their age, they should be developing and improving year on year but they seem to have stagnated. Sometimes you can hold on to a young player for too long.
A fresh start might be exactly what both players need, especially as neither really made their mark in this division last season, well perhaps not to the levels we would have expected. They both excel at specifics, whereas we probably need midfielders who are more well rounded.
Personally I think we’ll be figured out pretty quickly if we persist with Bird and Knight as two key components of our midfield. Freshening things up and becoming more unpredictable would be a step in the right direction for me.

Jeez this thread is hard going these days ,, it’s like a professor Brian Cox lecture , this number , that number , this percentage that percentage, seems you need a masters in algebra to follow football 😂
