Yes, we have to accept that it will take time. Success might not come under Warne or possibly even Clowes, but we have to hope that at some point there will be something that ignites a spark for the clubs resurrection to begin. Look at Luton Town and Coventry City, both had to come back from dark places but have really achieved something in the past few seasons. Our club just needs to find that winning formula at some point.

Rooney had nothing to do with Clowes. Rosenior was an interim to help provide some stability in a time of change, Clowes clearly didn't fancy him and brought in his own man. He hasn't changed style.

What divine right do we have to ''demand'' anything? We demanded things all the time from Mel, and he was as stupid as the fans were, and that was the entire reason we got in the mess. I agree that we shouldn't use ''we still have a club'' as an excuse for everything, but the **EXACT** reason we got where we are is knee jerking firing of managers and changing styles every time.

Who are these players that are going to play fast, vibrant, passing attacking football?
Méndez Laing, who can’t last 60 minutes and is equal measures frustrating and exciting?
Smith and Hourihane, who can only prosper on the ball when they are given the freedom of the continent?
Sibley and Barkhuizen, who can’t stay fit or find enough consistency to get a place in the team?
Cashin, who only has a sweeping long ball in his locker?
Let’s be honest, we have a squad which is not above this level and isn’t particularly blessed with technically strong players who can play good attacking football against all comers. This is why our play orbited around McGoldrick for 70% of the season previously.
The only one who is really fit for a passing team is Bird, and currently he is injured and come January, he might be on the move.
If you want to see a good passing team, @CornwallRam is right. It will need time, patience and investment.

Let’s see where we are after 20-25 games.
It has been an unconvincing start to the season, but there’s no need to hit the panic button. Warne has two weeks now to take stock and hopefully pinpoint and work on issues. We are four points off the top, not fourteen. We have forty games to course correct, not four. Let’s not overreact.
The concerns over the performances and the style of play are valid, but equally the side isn’t settled in any way and evidently that makes performing fluently more difficult.
Injuries, suspensions, players new and old struggling to blend, some players desperately struggling for fitness and form, and of course game changing lapses by officials and experienced players - there are a multitude of issues that are hitting us hard all at once.
What can we truly read into six league games? One week, everything goes for us, the next nothing does. We need a bigger sample size and we need a more settled XI and more coherent and consistent set up before we can judge. Could this side look different with a back four and Fornah, Embleton and Thompson in midfield, for instance?
People want to press the eject button before a squad with 11 new signings and a manager 12 months into the job and still working things out genuinely finds true synergy.
Comparing us to Bolton, where Evatt has been in charge for three years and has been able to tweak and improve the team year on year, is pointless. The circumstances are completely different.
We need to give it time.

How can you be a good passing side if there is no end product? Isn’t one meant to lead to the other? If it is not effective, is it actually good?
In the same way, is our running and pressing under Warne effective? Not always. So I wouldn’t describe us as a good pressing team, particularly. A team that tries it, for sure.
As I remember, much of our ‘good passing’ under Rosenior was in areas where the opposition were happy for us to have the ball and in positions where they knew we couldn’t hurt them.
Had we scored more goals and turned more draws and losses into wins, the feeling would be different. I don’t remember many times where we actually cut teams open with our passing and it led to goals being scored. We actually did more of this under Warne last season.
We created chances under Rosenior, yes, but we also create chances under Warne, just the build up is different and frustrating in its own way.

The squad McClaren inherited took 4-5 years to build. Rosenior built our squad in a matter of weeks having to get what he could, and with little to no thought to the future.
    That’s the point.
McClaren was able to come in and raise levels so quickly, one because he is a very good coach but also largely because all of the hard work and laying of foundations had been done and the blood, sweat and tears had been wiped away.
We are still in the blood, sweat and (a lot of) tears stage. So maybe that’s the reason why Warne hasn’t had the same impact as McClaren - because the squad still requires a lot of work due to the restrictions in place, and perhaps he will have to build those foundations.

David Clowes saved our club, but we're still not free of the restrictions caused by administration. We are currently an artificially reduced club. Our turnover, fanbase and history should feed into increased revenue with sponsorship deals and TV appearances. If we'd just been relegated, we would be able, given the right management, to dominate this league.
The problem is that we had 5 players, very few academy players capable of stepping up and serious restrictions on our finances and recruitment.
Thanks to hard work and commitment from David Clowes, Liam Rosenior and Paul Warne, we are now at a point where we are a 'normal' club again. We have a full squad and the academy has been strengthen. But don't be fooled. We're still not a big Championship club about to boss our way out of League 1.
The calls for passing football are, IMO, naive. You only get promoted by playing passing football if you have a squad full of high quality players that are simply too good for the rest of the division. The restrictions which we've been under have meant that the rebuild has had to be cheap. Quality players aren't cheap. The only way this squad is getting promoted is with spirit, fitness, organisation and pragmatic football. It doesn't matter if we replace Warne tomorrow - trying to pass our way out of this division with this squad would be a disaster.
I'd also argue that Warne hasn't had any quality academy players to include, so criticising him for not playing them is difficult to justify.
At this point we need a pragmatic manager. If we replace Warne it will be with someone similar. The restrictions have forced us to build the squad this way and it is logical to give this type of squad this season and next to try for promotion. If that fails, then it will be time to review and maybe bring in a manager who will rebuild with expensive passing players and academy products. By that time the restrictions will be long gone and the size of our club should enable us to be more dominant in the transfer market.

While I agree with some of the sentiments of the OP, why do we need to do this dance every time we lose? Not on this forum particularly but definitely on Twitter one week it’s HMS piss the league next week relegation fodder the next. It’s becoming tiresome.
I didn’t follow the game yesterday stats wise it looked like we parked the bus first half, but who is to say without the red card we’d have taken over the game in the second half and won it? Playing nearly a whole half with 10 men when at 1-1 is a significant enough mitigating factor to just ignore this game and move on to the next one. Not to mention sounds like a very fortunate goal won it and a horrific injury for Jake which is a body blow to the lad and to us.
Weve had a pretty tough start with the fixtures and we’re in the mix in what is going to be a wide open league this season.

We can all accept the football isn’t good to watch at the moment and there are issues to resolve. Maybe we need to take the pain before some joy follows.
No-one is enjoying our play at the moment, but with time, is it possible things will click? We didn’t start playing our best and most coherent football last season until November/December, but once we found our stride, we got results and played some lovely football. So let’s not pretend it’s not possible and let’s not pretend all of our good players will be bypassed.
We’re going through a tough patch at the moment but surely we should see what this team looks like when we have a settled eleven with a clear and well-informed approach?

I think this is key. We just need to give it a bit of time. I don't think the chopping and changing of lineups/system/formations is helping us at all.
Our best football last season came when Forsyth was next to Cashin. They formed a really solid partnership. In front you had a midfield combination of Bird Knight and hourihane. McGoldrick the central striker with wingers either side of him. It was round pegs in round holes. It just worked. And that's where we saw some pretty nice football and results.
We are nowhere near a settled side at the moment and it's showing.
