I’d rather send him to that other team for zilch than let Wycombe have absolutely any benefit from us.

No we can’t still hoping we either bring in a ball winning dm or give fornah more minutes in that role as he could be our man

If Derby don’t get reinforcements in by the end of the window then it certainly won’t be for the want of trying by the coaching staff. They know they will be out of a job if we’re not at least in the playoffs come the end of the season so not getting quality players in will all be down to the finance guys.

    Fornah is in these training pics (and possibly Bardell in the background of the Robinson/CBT pic) so hopefully fit enough to be involved on Sat as we could do with fresh legs in my opinion;

Would like to see fornah in for bird. Feel the lad deserves a run of games to see how good/average he actually is.
Bird was exceptional vs Fleetwood but since then a passenger most games.
Hourihane is more of a goal threat then bird so he stays for me.

He gave an interview the other day saying Brown and Weston have loan interest from National League sides and he expects Brown will go on loan this month. If that happens it makes sense to me, Brown gets to play senior football without the pressure of being here, we loan a tried and tested senior pro until the end of the season to boost our promotion push, then next season Brown can be further integrated having proved himself on loan

I guess, but it would be pointless us signing a different kind of striker (especially on loan) when the team isn't set up to make use of them.
If the aim is just to get out of this league at all costs I can't really think of any better option.

Get your point but I wouldn't exactly call him young - he's 26.

I'm sure this point has already been made but, not only is it fantastic to see Derby signing a young player in a position we desperately need to improve in, but it's also so great to see us splashing a bit of cash!
Goes to show that we have got the money to spend if we feel the deal is right and are willing to do so to secure Warne's main targets.
Definitely makes me feel at ease about our financial position and about our owner's willingness to get his wallet out when needed.

I always find it so amusing when Rammie joins in with the celebrations. A grown man dressed as a farmyard animal at the hoardings giving it to the crowd as if he’s just banged in a 20 yard volley himself.

Struggle to see why anyone would be against this as a loan. Smith has proven himself over many years as a decent player at this level. He might be aging, but that really isn’t relevant unless we buy him - an an ideal world, he joins us for 6 months, helps us get promoted, and then we ditch him (harsh as it sounds) since he’s no longer good enough for the Championship.
No brainer for me if he’s available, obviously a player Warne personally wants given their time together at Rotherham. Not as naturally talented as John-Jules of course, but I think he’d offer us a lot more reliable competition up front.

It's the same posters having the same hissy fits every bloomin' transfer window. They were also convinced that Charlton (13th) & Reading (21st) had recruited better than us in the summer and would certainly finish above us.

I think the main reason he's gone to a back 3 is because we haven't got an out and out right back. Playing Wilson there essentially takes away his biggest threat which is running with the ball and taking players on and being an attacking threat in the final third and Joe Ward basically can't defend. So neither are suited to playing as a right back in a back 4. But are ok playing as a wing back. When Nyambe is back we'll have more of an option to play a back 4.
I still think there's a player there with Fornah. He's just too laid back and has too many touches. He shows glimpses of what he can do. But there are times he needs to release the ball quicker, but this will need to be coached in to him. I wouldn't write Fornah off just yet. Elder I think will come good, but he is going to need a run of games. He's never gonna be able to get up to speed if he's in and out and until he has a proper run. I won't judge him.
One of the benefits of playing a 3 at the back is the fact we play 2 up top. Since that Collins has been scoring and that's no coincidence. Anyone with eyes can see he's not lone striker. All his goals at Luton came in a 2.

Or if you choose to not be miserable and pessimistic you can see a lineup that includes a number of our attacking threats. Collins industry, TJJ’s finesse, NML’s pace and power, Wilson’s trickery, Hourihane’s set pieces etc etc

    Oh what a night,
    Late December 2023,
Oxford scored 2 but then we scored 3,
What a comeback, what a night!

PS - sorry to anyone I may have offended last night, I was a leetle bit drunk!

The third felt very promotiony, very f****** promotiony indeed

Think hundreds of supporters will stand regardless so the sensible thing to do is to make those higher up areas more safe for those who do stand.

It’s football not the opera so it’s unreasonable to tell everyone they have to sit.

atleast now it’s very clear - there are certain areas where standing is very much encouraged/allowed and if you want to stand all game you should migrate to those areas when renewing STs and vice versa - move away from Those areas if you’d rather sit. we have to cater to the different kinds of fans at the ground whilst trying to support creating a strong atmosphere too.

No they don’t. Been to 4 or 5 games in Germany and had no issues.
It was a huge problem yesterday. Why do they need to check my ticket at the top of the stairs if they’ve checked it at the bottom? I can’t escape a stairwell. Then the rent-a-stewards they’re using don’t care whatsoever, they’re don’t even actually check. Then they stand in the way on the stairs half way up the stand as well.
It’s a whole lot of pomp and circumstance for nothing when the same people stood last game as did yesterday. Nothing changed apart from a railing. Actually felt like we needed to ask permission for a slash. There was noticeably less people going down to the concourse and spending money at half time due to it all.
Someone was thrown out by a steward before the game in front of me for arguing about it and tempers flared. Whole thing so avoidable. This wasn’t even a rent-a-steward. He’d seen the fan in question every week for years. Just bonkers.

I'm a reasonably diplomatic, boring, steady middle aged bloke.
I'm reasonably well educated and can write reasonably well so try to choose words on this forum that express an opinion that may be different to others, without deliberately causing offence. I certainly don't have 'poor writing' or 'poor vocabulary' as anything like an excuse if I were to cause offence.........but, without being patronising, I do understand not all so-called offensive posts are intended to be offensive.
However, it's apparent that I'm not alone in finding it tiresome that almost every single thread deteriorates into a game of point scoring, oneupmanship and, increasingly, forum archeology, in order to be unpleasant to one another.
There seems to be, in equal measure, deliberate attempts to cause offence and seek offence and it's just not great reading. I'm not in the slightest bit supportive of closing down debates or censoring differences of opinion but the number of personal spats with unpleasant language is getting beyond a joke.
I can't blame the mods because, individually, most of these posts fall below the threshold of complaint but, collectively, they make this forum so much worse than it could be.
I came to this forum for camaraderie when we nearly went under as a club - and it was a source of great comfort, information and humour.
It's got to the point where I'm considering signing off and and using the Telegraph and Radio Derby as my main non-matchday links - they have limitations but they are civil.
Any ideas what we can do?
