Anyone idea the player on Saturday we were gazumped by a championship club for.

If this is up to date:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_transfers_summer_2023

Then it can only really be Yasin Asari (Brighton to Coventry), Flynn Downes (West ham to Southampton, although seems very unlikely to me) or Taylor Gardner-Hickman (West Brom to Bristol).

That would have been an unreal signing

How so?

"Taylor Gardner-Hickman is an English footballer who plays as a defender for EFL Championship club Bristol City on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

Born: 30 December 2001 (age 21 years), England

Height: 1.88 m

Gardner-Hickman would have been good. Downes is essentially a Prem-quality player so no chance there. And I've personally never heard of Asari.

Not sure why West Brom would loan to Bristol City though, especially if they will both be competing in the top half of the table.

His Wikipedia says he plays right back, wide right, or centre mid. Could have plugged a lot of holes in our squad.

But is he any good? Not that it matters now anyway. Edit: that description sounds like Rooney.

Because maybe actually he isn't that amazing, when you take away the added premium of he has 'signed for someone else so the bed-wetters now need to hype him up as Warne missing out on the next Roberto Carlos'?

Dunno personally, never seen him play.
