Busy, tight & a blistering 25 yard shot inches wide. Forsyth 7.5 Majestic & dominant - half mark taken off for 2 stray passes. Cashin 8 Dominant and granite hard. Sibley 7 Constant threat & moved the ball quicker; lovely inside pass for goal #2 Davies 6 10 minutes & didn’t break sweat Mendez-Laing 7 Great opener then disappeared to the left for some strange reason. Osula 7 Raised the tempo of the team noticeably Hourihane 7.5 Very busy & creative Thompson 6 cameo Bird ? 8 Very solid & great passing Barkhuizen 7.5 Busy & then drifted out. McDick 9 MotM. A class above; such silky feet & plays with a smile Collins 6 Too obnoxious today for me. Knight 8 Came on and set up the third. Not sure why he isn’t starting but fear the worst. At HT I was not very happy with the team as I thought we stepped off the gas and we’re going through the motions. Let’s face it FGR were not very good. Derby need to be more intense & ruthless. Strong in the tackle, good going forward, covered well. Looked like a full back and appears to be learning the role well. FGS were very limited but I hope games like this do wonders for his confidence. Guest Posted December 18, 2022 Share Posted December 18, 2022 Wildsmith 7 (no real saves to make but distribution very good, especially quick and effective throws) Smith 7 (another good solid game) Forsyth 7.5 (solid once again on the whole) Cashin 8 (perfect in the air, good defending and passing) Sibley 7.5 (very decent showing - starting to look the part as an attacking LB!) Davies 6.5 (didn't have long but did OK with what he had to do) Mendez-Laing 7.5 (nice goal and getting back to where he was) Osula 6 (didn't have much time to make an impact) Hourihane 7 (ok but still the odd sloppy pass and surely still some way off his potential) Thompson 6 (see Osula) Bird 7.5 (very good, albeit FGR didn't have the most "enforcing" of midfields) Barkhuizen 6.5 (hopefully he can work on his crossing from the left because it's still more of a poke than a cross) McGoldrick 9 (just a delight to watch and the second goal was a beauty) Collins 6 (no questioning his effort but it's annoying watching him argue his way to a yellow card over a challenge that either never gets given or only with VAR at a much higher level! Not worth it... channel it, lad!)
