Wildsmith 6 - two massive kicking errors that should have been punished. Some sluggish distribution also but solid enough on goaltending duties

Knight 8.5 MOM - very impressive today. Beat Clarke-Harris in the air a few times, composed defensively, plenty of surging runs, linked up well with Sibley & Dobbin. And the goal.

Forsyth 7 - good second half display. Was very advanced & an improvement on Roberts 

Roberts 6 - was OK but not as dynamic as Forysth going forward & got caught out defensively couple of times

Korey Smith 7 - offered impetus in those final minutes. Busy & industrious 

Cashin 7.5 - some good last ditch tackling & saved a certain goal just before their opener

Stearman 7 - generally good & kept their front two quiet but closest to their lad for their goal

Dobbin 6.5 - bit inert first half & reluctant to run at his man. Bit better second half but very influential in our late comeback, great assist

McGoldrick 7.5 - great cameo. Strutted onto the pitch, tried to make things happen & scored the winner

Sibley 7 - played well I thought. Couple of good half chances & always looking to get others in. Tracked his runners & didnt get embroiled in far side melee which saw his tackler booked

Hourihane 6.5 - ordinary quality first half but played his part in quick tempo of last 10 mins that they couldn't live with

Bird 6 - played OK but bit quiet & ineffective second half

Collins 6 - decent display first half & worked hard. Lot of poor touches/misplaced passes second half & good decision to replace him

Barkhuizen 6.5 - one good chance & fouled for the red card

So pleased for Sibley, reading your comments over the last couple of games, that he has finally been given his chance to prove what a good player he will be in time, did not agree with Rooney publicly humiiating the young lad, whatever your business you do not do this, you do it behind closed doors.

Watched the full 90 on RamsTV, pen and paper in hand. Several under par performances.

Wildsmith 5.5 Two passes straight to opponents, didn't command his box and the rest of his distribution was poor. Worst game for us.

Knight 8.5 First half was the Knight and Sibley show. Felt he was quieter in the second half but then the equalizer was everything.

Cashin 7.5 Struggled in the first half but stuck to it and helped drive us forward in the second.

Stearman 6.5 Solid. Sold horribly by Bird's hospital pass and took one for the team.

Roberts 5 Didn't affect the game.

Bird ? 5.5 Occasional good touches but too deep, especially against 10 men, and a horrid pass that could have seen Stearman off.

Hourihane 7 Came into the game more second half but doesn't do enough.

Dobbin 6 Saved by his assist at the end but was rarely in the game.

Sibley 8.5 Constantly found pockets of space, great pressing and always looking to create or take an opportunity. Very unlucky not to score. Put one on a plate for Barks.

Barkhuizen 7.5 Often dangerous. Did well on both wings.

Collins 5.5 Looked tired and demoralized by the end. Led the line OK in the first half.

 

Subs:

Forsyth 6.5 Played high up forcing their full back deep. Not always the quality we expect in his first-time crosses, but impacted the game.

McGoldrick 7.5 Scored and made a difference. Better hold up play than Collins.

Smith 7 Played further forward than Bird and always looked for a forward, dangerous pass until we tool the lead. Then he slowed things down well. Best game for us.

Wildsmith 6 - couple of shaky distribution moments one of which he was put into trouble so not hugely his fault. One excellent ping out to Dobbin who didn’t get control of it. Couldn’t do anything for the goal.

Knight 8.5 - excellent and playing in a role that really suits him, more so than playing further forward on the wing. Struggle to understand the calls to get him into midfield when he is excelling where he is.

Forsyth 7.5 - always a very good outlet. Strange to have horses for courses in a full back position but the game yesterday suited him. No real slight on Roberts who will be more suited to others.

Roberts 6 - largely fine just not really his game.

Smith 7 - added impetus playing in his proper role. Hard to compare his and Bird’s performances due to the state of the game but given Rosenior something to think about.

Cashin 6.5 - not his best but fine

Stearman 6.5 - as above

Dobbin 7 - in and out the game but telling contribution at the end. Also a great cross right at the end of the first half. 

McGoldrick 7.5 - just a lovely footballer. One really neat turn on the half way line and right place at the right time for the winner.

Sibley 6.5 - pressed very well first half but not his best on the ball. Snatching at things a little but glad he is establishing himself. 

Hourihane 6 - kept things moving well at the end, good corner for Knight’s goal. 

Bird 5.5 - good enough to be dominating games but isn’t. Lost composure when they went down to 10 and lucky Stearman took a yellow card from his lax pass. 

Collins 5 - just not happening. Presses well and fine outside the box. Worry a little about his confidence, needs a goal soon.

Barkhuizen 7.5 - beat his man for fun and got their player the red, unlucky not to score a couple of times.

Knight 9 MotM Imperious. Scored the equaliser.    We need this top midfielder in midfield.

Forsyth 7.5 Gave us a dangerous supply of good ball from the left after coming on at h-t.

Roberts 6. Effective. 

Korey Smith 7.5 A bright sub and got the ball neatly forward.

 Cashin 5.5 Some loose passing and switched off for their goal.

Stearman 6 switched off for their goal.

Dobbin 7.5 Quiet spells but kept his head to set up the winner

McGoldrick 8 His skill & craft means we need him to start.

Sibley 7.5 The most likely creator & scorer until McG came on

Hourihane 7 Assisted the equaliser. Do we get enough industry from him?

Bird ? 6 We need more from our Captain

Collins 4 It simply isn’t working and he needs a reset

Barkhuizen 7 A good shift and involved in key moments which swung the game.

 

A dramatic & exciting outcome but that shouldn’t delude us into papering over the cracks. The midfield is unbalanced; we missed NML and didn’t create enough quality chances until they were a man short and knackered. 
We actually had a stronger team out v West Brom in the Cup.

Wildsmith - 5.5, can't really excuse that pass, lucky Marriott can't shoot from more than 8 yards. 

Knight - 9 for obvious reasons

Forsyth - 6, provided height and width but put in a number of poor crosses. Right sub and it worked tactically, just one of his off days in crossing.

Roberts - 6, don't think he did anything wrong really and subbed for tactical reasons.

Korey Smith - 7.5, Have we got another Smith? Does he have a secret first name only EllaFella knows? Much needed forward progression and positionally very good. Would play him instead of Bird next time out.

Cashin - 6.5, cleared one off the line, but one uncharacteristically terrible pass put us in trouble. On balance just above average 

Stearman - 6, lost the header requiring Cashin to clear off the line. Sleeping a little for their goal, but not helped by whoever was filling in at LB. Some decent passing though, somewhat surprisingly.

Dobbin - 6.5. Struggled for impact until it mattered, but that alone gets him an extra half mark. Works hard, doesn't hide.

McGoldrick - 8, thought he tried to do too much knocking it round a player and running into it the first time he tried it, attempting too hard to impress, perhaps. Then he did it again, perfectly, then he scored. Not sure Collins would have taken up that position?

Sibley - 7.5, constant threat, didn't disappear, getting back to himself I feel.

Hourihane - 6, as ever some fantastic passes  and the assist overshadow a generally not-so-geat performance, just not really in the game in general play and probably would struggle in the Championship now. 

Side note... our equaliser came because he took the corner early enough that the opposition weren't fully set. I called for a quick one, he delivered a quick one, we scored 

Bird ? - 5.5, barely there, I don't understand why he couldn't do what Smith did, or rather why he didn't, because he can, but he doesn't. He's a.quandry.

Collins - 5.5, just doesn't seem on the same wavelength as others no matter how hard he works. 

Barkhuizen - 7, good work especially shown by the highlights, shooting issues stil him scoring any higher but overall a very good game.

Summary

Knight was the statistical MotM with an average of 8.37; he was a whole average point higher than McGoldrick who averaged 7.4. Sibley maintained his high position in the ratings with 6.98. The average rating for the team was 6.52; the mode was 7.0

9 players were rated higher than the team average and 5 below. As usual the red dotted line shows the cut-off.

The average aggregate team rating was  91.23. This is 2nd highest for the season {beaten only by WBA game at 98.43} and compares with 87.9 (Fleetwood), 88.2 (Barnsley), 83.6 (Mansfield T), 82.8 (Charlton), 90.5 (Shrewsbury), & 80.98 (Oxford Utd). Not the best performance of the season but what a finish to the game!

"Tony Hatch" award went to @Keepyuppy whose aggregate rating was 82. 

The single lowest rated player was Collins (3.0, by Srg). 

We have over 187 lines of ratings data thus far (not including the Grimsby game which will come later this wee) so thanks again for your help. I will produce a "season to date" summary of all players when I get a spare couple of hours - probably deep into winter.
