Well that was thoroughly awful. Don’t think any of us expected anything else though with the options we had available, this current side is relegation scrap quality. Very disappointed with the goals we’ve conceded though, very basic errors. The fullback selection that I mentioned before the game has been proved the wrong call, slow fullbacks against Readings pacey wingers is a recipe for disaster. They just look quicker all over the pitch, first to every ball, whilst we’ve been very lax and appear half asleep. Fitness doesn’t look up to the right levels either which I feared after a poor pre season. We’ve got a long season ahead if we don’t get some players in, we really have.

Again Whitaker stands aside and sibley gets booked sorting it out

Sibley wasn't sorting anything out. The Reading player was running horizontally into Derby traffic. Sibley clattered him unnecessarily through petulance. Don't put that on Whittaker.

Pressed pretty well in midfield but haven't been able to do anything with the ball when we've won it back. All 50/50 decisions being given in their favour by the ref

João has killed us, if we'd won the ball and been able to give it to a player like him this would have played out quite differently.

Even if we had a player like Joao, our slow pedestrian football with no urgency would make him ineffective. We play in front of the back four, sideways and slow. Reading a least tried to inject some urgency and movement. We have done neither. This may not be popular, but Cocu's style of play does not work in this division. Leeds went up with high tempo. Brentford nearly made it with high tempo football. We nearly did under Mac 1. Wolves did (albeit with way superior players than we have).  I buy into bringing the academy lads through, what I don't buy into is Cocu's style of football.

Our players and our manager have approached this game like cowards. Just pass the ball sideways and backwards, never take a risk and go forward. Don't press, just let them pass it between their back four. It's ducking boring. Reading haven't looked good, we've just been gash.

Play with some ducking tempo, go press the ball, show some desire to get the ball forward, take risks in possession, and stop being pussies. How can this style of play work unless we have Messi who can do it all alone? Even with better attackers, it wouldn't fix this lack of desire to go forward.

Agree this is so slowly and they are picking us off easily as we cant stretch them Knight and Whittaker sadly are stretching their full backs like theirs are ours

Even if we don't have an amazing attackers, we would look better by just moving the ball faster. We're so predictable. We must be so easy to defend against, sit your back 4 in a line and watch Derby pass it around in front of you for the game.

How is Whittaker even considered over Hector-Ingram? The lad is so weak, needs loaning out.

Bird looks the part but is in no way captain material.

All horrendous.

Well, for one, they play different positions. And for two, Whittaker has been our best attacking player and has been hindered by everyone else offering nothing.
