Who would you sell (and how much do you think we would get)

Sell: (this isn’t what I think they’re worth I think it’s how much we would sell them for)

Bogle 6-8 million

Marriott (give him a pre season) 1-3 million

Carson 500k-1 million (big wages though)

I think these players will have at least some demand but in a dream world I’d also sell...

Malone 1-2 million

jozefzoon 750k-1.5 million

That should give us at least I’d say 5 million to spend in the summer which is enough especially if we are looking at ibe on a free, to buy a keeper and possibly another striker.

If we could get an offer for Lawrence, probably time to let hime go. He's not likely  to improve now, as a DCFC player.

He might not improve much now, but he's one of our best players IMO. We need to be looking to bring another winger in rather than losing one. I'd much rather sell in a position we have much better squad depth in (ie selling Bogle with Wisdom coming in at RB), if we do need to sell to raise funds.

I think there might be a few people in for a shock regarding transfer fees.

There is no way fees will be anywhere near similar to what existed before Covid.

There is a glut of out-of-contract players and clubs are having to not only cover costs of the last 4 months but also covering the costs of potentially empty stadiums for at least part of the upcoming season.

Unless we are willing to sell way below what we value players at, none of them is going anywhere.

exactly.... if anyone thinks that Lawrence is worth 10 million then they are high and if they think that we could actually GET 10 million for him....then they havent been watching the news for the last 5 months....

Cool.

If things are so tight let's take Messi for £500k!?

I suppose the easy answer is anyone who is not part of Phil's long-term plans, assuming buyers could be found. A few thoughts...

  • Bennett needs to go. I've always thought he could be a decent championship player but he's a liability off the pitch and my patience has run out. Odd that he's so committed on the pitch but such a massive dick off it.
  • Malone probably needs regular football at this point in his career and he's behind a few anyway. He's not as bad as folk make out and if he's willing, I'm sure a new home could be found.
  • Zoon remains a bit of an enigma. By all accounts, he has bags of ability but we seldom see it during games. He's probably on a decent whack and might not feel obliged to move on if the deal doesn't meet his expectations.
  • Bogle is a tricky one. I thought he would be tearing it up by now but his progress has faltered with Bielik and Te Wierk possibly our go-to CB pairing next season, Jayden may find a seemingly rejuvenated Andre Wisdom blocking his path.
  • Curtis Davies is another who may find himself surplus to requirements. There's a good few ahead of him these days but I could see him being a very decent coach.
  • Jack Marriott seems to have lost his edge and seldom seems fit enough to avoid injuries. It's hugely frustrating as we all know what he can do but he's another with who my patience is fast running out. A succession of managers have now alluded to his work ethic and perhaps it's time to cut our losses.

So that'd be my list with a view to getting a couple of decent signings in and also blooding a bit more youth. There's still some really exciting talents in the academy, to my eye at least.

I'd possibly add George Evans to your list.

Not strong enough for a central defender, not skilful enough for a midfielder.

Utility players are not the same as specialists.

We need to have quality throughout the team and I just don't see it with him.

Young enough to command a fee and his Man City background might tempt some bids.

To Start off we have to clear the decks.

Firstly, let go any who is not wanted and is out of contract.

Secondly, released any of youngsters from reserves who have reached a certain age (21 plus) who are not required and will not fetch any money.

Thirdly, look at positions within the team/squad where we are over stocked with options/players and see who we can let go.

Fourthly, look at the  reserves and see who could potential join the first team and replace current member who could then be sold to raise cash.

Fifth, Look at weakness within the squad where personnel need to be replace by new free agents/purchases/loans from outside the club.

This would hopefully lead to a more slimmed down, youthful, fit for purpose, tight-knit squad.

One that would help us complete both on the field and stay within the FFP rules off it.

I'm a George Evans fanboy so he stays for me. I think he'll at very least be an able understudy to Bielik and Te Wierk and with our injury record that might be handy, especially if Curtis leaves. I also think he does have some quality about him but I accept that he needs to show it more consistently.

Agreed, I think Evans is a very useful player to have around

anyone know which youngsters have been released ? Presumably another round of talented but not quite good enough 21 year olds will go

I'm hoping we get Dickie from Oxford so we can have a Dickie Bird partnership.

Or Dickie Davies?

Can't say I disagree with this list.

It'll be make or break for Marriott next season. Was surprised to see him back so soon, so maybe he does have a work ethic? 28 days post op and fit enough for 20mins from the bench...

Bogle will be our most saleable asset, I expect. Depends whether the demand is out there, but if he does leave, we need another RB, else its Wisdom, who outwardly prefers CB, or Max Lowe who is good at LB but forcing him to play RB is cruel when he's so left footed it hurts.

Zoon doesn't fit the system. Simple as that.

Or taking the opportunity to show he’s fit enough to be sold? So theoretically we know that this season he’s had a ‘niggle’ thanks to the podcast, what was wrong last season? Why no excuse?

Don’t think we’ll sell, but I don’t think there will be buyers anyway.

Aren't all players trying to prove they're good enough to be bought by a club in a better position?

What was wrong last season? Other than Lampard not picking him for Wembley?

Lampard came out and questioned his attitude towards training and fitness (my paraphrase), and he was injured.
