Bris Vegas
Uefa has issued a statement on the pre-match problems outside the stadium... "In the lead-up to the game, the turnstiles at the Liverpool end became blocked by thousands fans who had purchased fake tickets which did not work in the turnstiles. "This created a build-up of fans trying to get in. As a result, the kick-off was delayed by 35 minutes to allow as many fans as possible with genuine tickets to gain access. "As numbers outside the stadium continued to build up after kick-off, the police dispersed them with tear gas and forced them away from the stadium. "Uefa is sympathetic to those affected by these events and will further review these matters urgently together with the French police and authorities, and with the French Football Federation." From the reports I've seen that's complete rollocks and whoever is responsible for the organising of this event is lucky they haven't got a serious incident on their hands

This is uefa trying to deflect blame from themselves and the police and they will be lucky if they don't find themselves prosecuted DenmarkRam

Is it because an extra 60,000 Liverpool fans made the trip to Paris? Don’t you think some of them would have tried to get in? You think all of the 60,000 odd just went to see the sights? I feel sorry for the Liverpool fans who had genuine tickets who couldn’t get in.
ariotofmyown
Shame Lpool lost. Good news they didn't murder loads of opposition fans though. Or get us kicked out of Europe again.

Bear in mind that some fans may have bought what they thought were legitimate tickets off the internet which turned out to be fake. I imagine there'll be some of that tomorrow too, though the numbers will be allot smaller. FOMO makes some fans do illogical things.

But, only 10,000-20,000 legitimate tickets were available to buy yet 80,000 or so turned up. Of the 10,000-20,000 surely there would only be official sources to sell those tickets? Anything else you are taking a gamble on.

Celtic and Rangers in Seville are a good example, and though most of them are happy just to be there, there'll always be some who'll take a chance on a dodgy ticket. The fans who stormed Wembley at the Euro final weren't Liverpool supporters.
