He seems to be the only person unwilling to even see the guy as a terrorist. Pretty clear to see whose camp he is in. Was he a terrorist when he was taking out ISIS for us? I think you need to take a read of that newspaper letter I posted a couple of pages back. Could just be that Corbyn is the only one acknowledging the complexity of the middle east situation. At no point does he say that he wasn't a terrorist or that he supported him - he just refuses to be drawn in the pathetic media game of painting every situation in noddy terms for the hard of thinking. So you're acknowledging that the US recruit, train and arm these assets when it suits their interests, and then kill them once they somehow turn those skills/weaponery against them? Norman
I do feel sorry for all of you who are wishing for WWIII just so you can be proven right in your own heads over Trump. Must be a terrible place to be put in. Mind you, you can look forward to Brexit and emergency budgets, lack of medicine, not being able to fly etc. And if that doesn't prove you were correct, you can look forward to the world ending in 7 years. But don't let that bother you when accusing others of not caring whether hundreds or thousands of people live or die. On 08/01/2020 at 10:45, Highgate said: It seems that there are no casualties as a result of the missile attacks. According to early reports anyway. This may be a chance for de-escalation. Iran can claim (in Iran) that this was sufficient revenge for Soleimani and the US can consider the attacks ineffective and brush them off. And everyone can put this episode behind them, with the only long-term effect being the Iranian regime will have gained more support at home and domestic protests in Iran will subside for some time. These non-lethal missile attacks could be the best thing that could have happened. Too optimistic ? That's me wishing for war yesterday apparently. I don't think anyone wants a world war, more worried that a certain person will drop us into one because his housekeeper will have not gotten the cookie dough ice cream in, or his hair gets singed by the fire while its drying on its stand. Anyway, if there is a world war I guess it will up the socialists to win it …. you know, like last time.?
