Thank you Mel

Jayden Bogle, Mason Bennett, Jason Knight.

3 players from the academy in the squad last night that were celebrating in the dressing room in one of the biggest games in English football last night.

Mel Morris for as long as I have spoken with him has had this vision, players coming through the academy to the first team and has invested huge amounts into the club to achieve this.

I hope you enjoyed last night Mel, you’ve been doubted, questioned, not trusted and put your trust in managers that have failed to buy into ‘The Derby Way’. Take that team sheet and frame it, place it above the bed if Mrs Morris will allow it.

That pathway which was once littered with obstacles is now completely clear.

Last summer you took a big gamble on Frank, whilst others continued to employ the old dinosaurs that plague the game.

Your gamble has paid off as we now have an absolute legend of the game in charge of our club that shares your vision, and it’s about time! You got your man, Lampard’s at the wheel and it feels so good.

With the U18s National Champions, call ups for England, the first team now at Wembley one game from promotion it’s been an incredible season so I just want to say thank you.

If we look across the country this morning, some fans don’t even know where they are playing next season, others if they will even start the season. To be where we are, as a club, is largely down to you.

Whatever happens on Bank Holiday Monday, this has been another memorable season under your tenure that will live long in the memory. Thank you Mel.

I’ll second that, I’ve said before on this forum in my opinion neither Mel nor Frank are doing this for the money as they clearly don’t need it. They are doing it for the love of the game, in Mel’s case for the love of his home town. Pure and unadulterated altruism from both of them. They deserve all the credit they get especially for sticking with it through thick & thin when the criticism was coming their way.

@David trying to set a new record for most threads started in 24 hours ?

Jokes aside, completely agree. Many of us on here have had unwavering support for Mel while he's been in charge, whatever the result of this season I'd like to think the appointment of Lampard has met if not exceeded the targets set by Mel.

And Kelle Roos too.

Every decision he's made has been with the best interest of our club at heart.

He's been led by his heart and made mistakes but he's poured in so much of his personal wealth to transform us from mid table to regular play off contenders.

Love him!

I'm sure Mrs Morris has already done that. She is as big a fan, if not bigger, than Mel.

Win or lose vs Villa and its been a great season with some wonderful games.

Its nice to see Mel's vision finally coming to fruition, what with attacking attractive football and youth players making their debuts.  He gets a bit of flak on here at times but I'd rather have MM than anyone else.

COYR, hope you can pull one more big performance out of the bag!
