Still no Luke Thomas watch in stock. No Max Bird alarm clock either. Tempted by the Tom Huddlestone sundial though.... You must be blind, it’s right next to the Will Hughes watch. IronRam 140.6
"Good enough old enough" does apply sometimes, the Rooney, Walcott & Bales of the world. But the world isnt that kind to everyone. Slowly slowly catchy monkey for mere mortals I'm afraid.

They tell you the player can handle X role in X system at X level. In terms of player development he gets used to playing against full-backs that aren’t as good as what he will be playing against. If you’re good enough you’re old enough Yeah? Why isn’t Mount starting behind Morata rather than Nugent then? Why isn’t Wilson vying with Mane/Salah for those wide spots at pool? Players can show a lot of promise but it’s better for them to gain experience and make their mistakes for another team.

Now it’s about find a role. Mental side might need to develop though - Which is where it can be good to play against 'not as good' opposition - Builds his confidence in his ability - Gives him a little more time on the ball to start seeing passes, understand how the flow of the game is around him, work out how to weight passes etc - The further up the leagues you go the worse you get punished for a poorly made decision - Loans allow young players to go out and play against (in theory) teams and players where their mistakes will be less costly

He wasn’t deemed good enough at the time to play, clearly. So it was loan, sell or play for their U23’s at a level quite obviously beneath him. Which would’ve been the best option, if loans are pointless?

Day
Might be better for his development to stay with Coventry till the end of the season, get a full season under his belt with the possibility of promotion. When we have the likes of Jozefzoon unable to get a game, do we really want Thomas sat around twiddling his thumbs? Thomas time will come, great to hear he’s doing well though. He's in the best situation at Coventry, a decent club with a good manager.
