loweman2
I thought that it was time to clarify just what happened to our ram, and when. it was the start of the 1971/72 season when we won our first league championship. we also changed from black and white to the fantastic blue and white, the wannabe England strip. You can see they guy designing it, look at the fat ram ! I’m glad that we didn’t go for that one. it was designed by a Leeds fan, I suppose that’s another thing that we have over them, especially when we saw their ridiculous new badge. any how, have a read, it’s all there so should answer all of those questions. its got an eye, two horns, four legs and it faces the right ! you Rams !! (for anyone who is interested all of this is in the very first edition of the ram paper)
ThePrisoner
Cracking bit of history that. Taking my bias out of it, it's the best football badge I think, absolutely timeless in design.
Day
That fat one looks great! Reminds me when we all tried to squeeze into those Kappa kits

LazloW
From those who were around at the time, I’d be interested in knowing what the reaction was to the change. Was it a shrug of the shoulders in that pre-social media, faux outrage and over excitement world (see reaction to the Leeds logo... which was crap to be fair)? Were there any complaints at all or was it universal love for what is an absolute classic in design. Agree with others, it is the best.
Ellafella
Brilliant @loweman2. I tried to re-find that article a couple of years ago but to no avail. The Rampant Ram must be one of the most famous ensigns in the world. I know I’m biased but it’s a classic.
Rab a dab doo
A great piece of club history. These are the sort of stories that make our famous great club so distinctive and unique in the world of football. Thanks for bringing it back to our attention. Keep up the good work. Carnero
@loweman2 not such a noticeable eye on many of the shirts from when I was growing up... I don't like the eye as it is now, I much prefer the slight blob of the late 80's & early-mid 90's. **note people, I do mean eye and not horn!!!!!
